    ABOUT Dr. Katie Woodley - The Natural Pet Doctor
    =====
    Dr. Katie is a small animal integrative veterinarian who developed a passion for natural medicine while I was living in New Zealand. Her vet career was lucky enough to begin in the beautiful country of New Zealand. She was able to see how living off the land by growing our own vegetables and raising our own animals was the way to live the healthiest versions of ourselves. Her pets were lucky to have lots of open space to run around in and were always at the beach or the river.
    When they moved back to the States five years ago, her husband, unfortunately, developed an autoimmune disease. As they researched natural medicine options for him to avoid the horrible side effects of the treatment options his doctors were providing him, Dr. Katie realized that she was doing a disservice to her animal patients by not offering these holistic options to them. She began down the integrative medicine route and has never been happier. Through nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine, essential oils, and supplements, every animal can achieve optimal health or feel their best even when they have a chronic illness or disease like cancer. She currently has a certification in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and is continuously learning about the other natural modalities and growing her knowledge base every day!
    She started this business to provide pet parents with more resources for natural medicine advice and care because we need to increase awareness of how amazing natural medicine truly is! Dr. Katie's mission is to ensure that all pet parents have access to herbal medicine, supplementation, and nutritional advice throughout their pet's lifetime. One of her greatest joys is the opportunity to collaborate with both pet parents and other veterinary professionals to ensure access to all available integrative options for pet health care.

      My Rescue dog has E.G.I.D, her immune system goes nuts from airborne allergens + some foods, her throat swells, bad acid reflux when she had endoscope & biospies done on her stomach & small bowel they also found mild to moderate Helicobacter & wanted to put Roxy on Triple Therapy meds for 21days Metronidazole, Amoxicillin & Losec after 2 days on these medication my girl throat was swollen & her gums were white & top of teeth the gums were bleeding ??
      What was happening? I stopped all her triple therapy meds.
      Vet nurse said she might be allergic to Amoxicilin?
      I just want to help stop her acid reflux & make her more comfortable with her Environmental skin allergies & her stomach?? She gets Cytopoint Injections these injections seem to calm her itch & then her stomach seems to be better less acid reflux but I hate her getting this Cytopoint injections every 2-3 months there has to be something else for Roxy..

    My dog who I rescued in 01/2021 started having these recurring issues in 11/2022. 3 veterinarians and close to $3,000 later for exams, X-rays, blood work, etc, none of these supposedly educated vets, who have been in practice for at least 20 yrs, were able to come up with a diagnoses, not even after i showed them videos when she would have an epidose and my extensive and thorough descriptions of the symptoms. One even suggested a procedure to have my dog's lungs cleaned out. Through my extensive research, I finally concluded that she has acid reflux. So now when she would have an episode, I give her .5 mg of Pepcid AC (at night bec it's when it usually starts), empty out a capsule of Slippery Elm and mix it in with her breakfast, followed with another .5 mg of Pepcid AC with her dinner. It does the trick. Sometimes I would do the treatment regime for 1 1/2 days until I see she is feeling better. I am less and less impressed with vets after 18 years of having dogs. They are like Snake Oil salesmen.
    One veterinarian who was treating my dog for an eye infection (he had puss underneath his eye lids), after 2 weeks of treatment, the infection started again. This vet told me that the only way to resolve the issue is for him to remove my dog's eye lids. Yes, you read that right, and he wasn't kidding. I took my dog to an animal opthalmologist that same day and the 1st thing he did was to throw away the meds the other vet was treating my dog with. He said the meds are not correct. Unfortunately, the damage had been done. My dog from 6 yrs old until he passed away at 14 1/2, had to had 2 different eye meds, adminstered 2x/day for the rest of his life because of that idiot vet.

      I know this is totally unrelated but my wife was seeing an ear nose and throat specialist for a couple months . They couldn't figure out her blocked ear. They set an appointment to get tubes put in....
      She had a chiropractor appointment and they said get in and get an antibiotic NOW!!! You have an ear infection.....
      Problem was better in 2 days...... I don't get it

      Agree with you. I have the same experience. I took my dog to 2 different vet neither could diagnose my baby & the second vet wanted to do the same lab & X-ray which cost so much. The meds prescribed amounted to $550.00 with the lst vet & the second cost $150.00 so l just got the rx & ordered from Chewy & only cost for me $32.00 vs &150.00. After costing me over $2,000.00 l lost trust with these vets.

    I love your comment about us having to be sleuths. One of my dogs started licking her paws several years ago. Through a process of elimination I discovered that this was triggered by kefir, fermented sauerkruat, sardines and green lipped mussels, all supposed super foods. As soon as I cut these out she was fine. I now realize these are all very high histamine foods and I have recently read several articles linking high histamine foods to allergies.

      @RusticWoods I just removed these foods from their diet. I feed a balanced diet of meat, raw meaty bones and a wide variety of organ meats. The so called super foods do not seem to be necessary for my dogs, who are both 15 years old and have been eating my homemade raw for over 13 years. In fact, I personally cannot eat fermented foods like kefir and sauerkraut because they cause digestive problems. So everyone is different.

    Yes! So many symptoms and I try to explain to the vet over the years and they never have any answers - just tell me that you can’t test for acid reflux when I tell them I think he may have it - they only offer me more expensive imaging on top of the labs and imaging he already has had. Thank you so much for doing this video 😭

    I believe what you are saying is true. I’ve been so sad and stressed out over personal problems and then the stress of being upset over my dog having diabetes and then becoming blind made me so sad, I’ve been crying continually. I’ve been trying to sing and turn my mood around and she began licking me and I saw her having more energy. She had looked like she was going to die. She is 15 years old and I hear a lot of negative words like, well she’s old, you have to face she may be dying. But I am fighting against that. I believe she can live a healthy life as long as I can keep a positive attitude, pray and do my best for her nutrition. Thank you so much. I love your channel. I just stumbled upon it. My neighbour's dog's vision came back after putting 1 drop of castor oil 4 times a day but make sure the oil is pure and clean and there are very very few companies that make proper pure castor oil. My 11 year old boxer baby has GERD😢, and her vet (traditional) wants to prescribe an acid blocker-Pepcid. I told her I need to think about it. I feed her Dr Harvey's Paradigm and gently cooked turkey and ground beef. She doesn't do well with chicken (causes vomiting). She also has Chronic Low Grade Pancreatitis, so I supplement with Dr Mercola's Digestive Enzymes which have helped tremendously. She used to have pancreatitis flares about once a week, but now she might have 3-4 episodes a year!! I sent in a sample of her poop to Animal Biome, and she has a dysbiosis with E-Coli. So I got the GUT RESTORE and GUT MAINTENANCE supplements and haven't started yet because I need to call them and ask questions about them.

People with rescues can testify how far some TLC and calm surroundings will go. Our little guy (mini dach) has come a long way, I will always groom him as that was one of his triggers. Hi Dr katie,
    We have a question about feeding an underweight 19-year-old dog. After spending over $5000 in vet bills, none of the vets (4) could solve the issue. I prefer to ask you here if other people have the same problem. We are here to help, after all. You previously mentioned that during a crisis such as intestinal inflammation, severe stomach inflammation, or pancreatitis, we should avoid feeding any fiber or fat to the dog's diet. However, what if the dog has become severely underweight due to refusing to eat for an extended period? Shouldn't we be adding good fats (such as fish oil) and fiber to the meal to help them gain weight?
    On the other hand, if we follow your advice and avoid feeding any fat or fiber, won't the dog continue to lose weight? We are confused about how to handle underweight dogs. We have tried feeding low-fat protein such as white fish (not salmon), but while we saw a slight improvement, the weight was not increasing. We thought that adding fish oil and fiber might be the solution, but it seems to have made the situation worse.
    What are your thoughts on this? We appreciate your help.

    • @thenaturalpetdoctor
      @thenaturalpetdoctor  10 месяцев назад

      I'm sorry to hear this about your 19 year-old dog. There's usually a reason that they don't want to eat and it's important to find out why that's happening. I can't give specific medical advice, since it could cause harm, but I would ask the vet to run diagnostic tests like bloodwork, ultrasound, etc to see if there is something serious going on so you'll know what you're treating.

    Great information, thank you for sharing. My 13 yr old cat has IBD. I really think he has acid reflux, he has all of the symptoms like noise tummy, burp, sometimes Spits up water/bile. All this is usually after he eats too. Constantly licking his lips too. I give him slippery elm bark powder (I make my own syrup), sometimes it seems to help. Is there a certain amount he should get? 7.4lbs. Also he eats rawz rabbit wet only right now only because he can't handle anything else yet, eventually ill get him on raw or cooked meat. I just switched and he seems to be doing good on this for now. I give him ginger and tumeric too. I also just ordered the gastro elm hoping that helps too. I think this acid reflux is the biggest deal right now besides his IBD. He's been on prednisolone for 3 months but I plan on getting him off that soon too. Atleast he's starting to gain weight and not puking. Another question, how much ashwagandha would be good? You recommended the SP one but do you crush it up? Thank you!

    My dog has diabetes and cataracts. I’ve been trying to help her. She had taken Pepcid & slippery elm but I had also added Quercetin for her eyes to her food. I believe I over did it. She was eating Steve’s frozen dog food but now refuses to eat it, but thankfully, she is eating the dehydrated form of Steve’s raw food.
    She drinks a lot of water and burps and then spits up water and is in pain. I don’t know what else I can do.😢

      Please check out Castor oil for dog's cataract. You can put drops in their eyes and it reverses it.

    I was told that long term use of PPI prevents oesophageal cancer, not cause it

      Unfortunately it’s the opposite. If you go to Pubmed and search proton pump inhibitors and esophageal cancer, there are numerous studies that detail this information.

    Dr Woolley, thank you so much for this information. I am an acupuncturist and herbalist and have been doing most of the things you recommended for my Yorkie. I am so relieved to get some confirmation of my approach, sometimes I feel unsure and anxious. My 15 yr Yorkie has liver issues and cannot digest fat, he is a very picky eater so meal time is extremely stressful. I have been using gut soothe from adored beast + other herbs and have great results. We are still struggling with him waking up coughing and that bilious vomit at about 3 am. this is a flare up because we dared to go on vacation for 7 day 😅. So the 3 am wake ups are taxing on the whole household I don’t know whether to feed him closer to bed or not. He has the coughing+ bile and the. Feels better and is hungry immediately. I will add the ashwaganda for everyone, aloe and chamomile to see how we do. I’m just super grateful, I shed some tears here out of relief.

      I always recommend variety for any pet, so if they are doing ok and you're rotating the different types of proteins, veggies and other foods, that's perfect👍

    • @mamabear9389
      @mamabear9389 Год назад

      @thenaturalpetdoctor Yes I do try to use lots of variety and constantly looking for new ways to do that. They are small so RMB choices are more limited but recently discovered they can eat duck heads if I cut them in half. Also introduced quail. So I feel better in the RMB department.

    Dr. Katie > I would recommend that you tell us about the GMO Pet foods, I found NULO that is supposedly Non-GMO. I would even like to order wet cat food BENEVO (vegan with Non-GMO ingredients) to mix 1/2 with the NULO. Trust me I have even cured horrible red welts all around the eyes of a 10-yr. old Kitty I rescued, just by mixing half-and-half Greek Olive Oil with filtered water by dabbing all around the eyes. I also cured this kitty Maxie with Organic cooked Oats + Non-GMO Wellness food. She thrived.
    This half Olive Oil & filtered water also can be a remedy for Dander that People are allergic to, and surrendering their Cats...NO just do this, and you're good for 1 whole month...as rubbing this with clean hands all over the Cat's fur, will make the Cat not spew Dander...No Dr. Katie Animals & People were created in the Garden of Eden as plant-based, after the Great Flood as all the fats & minerals with salt, removing salinity, leached into the expanding oceans. Trust me I had 15 super healthy kitties in Paris for 8 months, Cats and kittens...on a Vegetarian Non-GMO diet, they never ever smelled of Ammonia in the 2 large litter boxes I placed in the bathroom, with stacked newspapers...never had fur hair flying all over...But the French Kitties that I rescued were more likely to eat the Vegetarian fare, including french steamed beets (slivered), chickpeas, canned green beans, green peas, french "creme fraiche" something just a lot better & tastier than the American sour cream...Americans are in the dark + the Kitties here are stuffed with Flesh foods (with Toxic GMOs), which is not the original Creation diet...People + Animals....being created Plant-based Vegans...See Genesis 1:29-31, also suggested in Isaiah 11th chapter, Isaiah 65:25 and summarized in Revelation 22:2. They are killing us with these Foods...You can find me on facebook on *The Green TREE*. >>> Here a video by Mic the Vegan ruclips.net/video/MlTlxwlplwU/видео.html
