  • Bromeliad Family Tree: Dyckia! Let's take a look at the genus Dyckia, a very different looking bromeliad that has some very different architecture and different growing characteristics as well!     This dyckia is so very new to me. Yay! My hubby just order me a beautiful red dyckia pup plant today, i can wait to get my very first plant of Dyckia plant ever.! I am so excited bout my brand new dyckia pup. Rusty, your tips are so very helpful to me. My very first dyckia is my early Anniversary plant.! This is my very first time hearing bout this beautiful plants. My dyckia pup is beautiful red and green colors pup.

    They are great. Kinda like an Agave, but more beatiful.

    Just got my burgundy back in november and lost half leaves on underwatering.Was too afraid of overwatering as i'm used to succs😊.Thank you so much for your infos on the frequency of watering.I was desperate i was losing mine

    That's a pretty neat genus, I've not really seen any of these ones before. I think the contrast the spikes have with some of the greener leaves has a pretty neat look.
    From seeing the healthier new growth I think that the unnamed hybrid in the really filled up pot must've been really nice looking before it got too dried out.

    Yay, i got another dyckia for my birthday, now here in aug.2024. my new dyckia has 4 pups now growing on it. Which i am so excited bout. This is my very first pups ever. I love dyckia plants. I got a different dyckia pup plant for my birthday in aug. 2024. I got 7 dyckia plants so far this year.

      New updates, my pups are starting to grow a little faster each day. My pups are so thriving with the beautiful mom plant. :). I love dyckia plants.

      They don't require a lot of care... weeding the pots can be a chore, though.😂

    You ever tried using real soil (loam) mixed with something that drains it better like sand,perlite or pumice for dyckia? I guess cactus soil is good for it too?
    My previous mix is getting so expensive so I am looking for an alternative.
