I have been a home exerciser since the early eighties when exercise tapes first came out on VHS (remember that). Exercise is something I don’t think about, I did it for years before I left for work. I am retired now and I still exercise everyday unless I’m traveling. My doctor asked me to take a baseline mobility and flexibility test. At the end the nurse blurted out “I think you’re in great shape!” I was 65 then, I am now 70 and I believe I am stronger, but a little less flexible, than I was then. Aging is inevitable but I am going to keep on my feet and moving as long as I can. You taught me so much about sun protection Dr Dray! Before watching you, I had used sun protection only when I was at the beach in summer time. After watching your videos, I’ve started to put it right when I wake up and renew it 3 times a day no matter if I’m at indoor or outdoors and no matter if the weather is rainy or sunny. You really saved my skin, I can’t thank you enough!
I’ve worn sunscreen since i was 19-but it was a waste of time! The spf’s were low and only covered UVB for nearly three decades! I’m seeing the damage from those years NOW, at age 66!
That outlook on exercising is so true. I feel like it’ll be a habit that lasts forever if you feel like it’s just something necessary. And you just feel better in the long run.
I’m probably the only guy on the face of the earth who wears those same Sun gloves while I drive (7 years now!) but it was cool to see you wearing them too!

Love your mindset. Like you say, discipline beats motivation. Every time. You should take care of, help and be good to yourself the same way you would take care of, help and be good to someone you loved and valued. People caught up in the instant gratification trap expect to gain something from nothing. Unfortunately, the world doesn't work that way.

YES. Flexibility is the key to keeping your structure and posture balanced. When tightnesses occur on one side of the body long weak muscles are on the other side. So then pain syndromes start. Flexibility regularly will keep you active for a lifetime. And yes! Exercise is like a bath for the muscles and joints.

Lol like legit, I think Dr Dray is pulling this verbatim from one of my comments/questions to her several weeks ago for an IG story. Please please PLEASE tell me others have asked something similar so I don't feel like the only ridiculous idiot being called out in class or something!! I need to know how to alternate Retin-A if I don't want to use it every night!! Don't I need 15k steps all the time!?!?!??! ....apparently, not!! Heh thanks Dr Dray for keeping it very real and knocking some much needed sense into my advertiser-addled mind. Skincare doesnt need dozens of permutations based on moon cycles and tide patterns!
There is an overload of products on the market but many contain the same ingredients. Once I decided what my skin really needs put together a simple routine that incorporates them, life s easier and my skin and wallet likes it too.
Keep it simple! So true! As for instant gratification - as a teacher for the past 25 years the patience level of students is dreadful because they are so used to instant gratification. I feel sorry for young people who miss out on saving for something for months and then appreciating that much more when you get it.
About 3 years ago I was putting so many skin care products on my face it would take me hours to do it. I got so sick of all that crap I just stopped everything for months. Now I do what Dr. Dray said I KISS (keep it simple stupid) and it's working great. Gentle cleanser in the morning and evening followed by splashing with distilled water, Vit C and sunscreen in the morning and Retin A .05 Cream at night. I love it. Takes me just a few minutes and I think my skin looks a lot better than it did when I was going crazy putting everything under the sun on my skin.
Keep moving is key. If you don't slip into a sedentary lifestyle, you wind up like my neighbor in his 70s, who still rides his bike, kayaks, and skateboards!! Or one of my favorite yoga instructors, also in her 70s. As you get older, if you're not moving and stretching every day, you will ultimately lose the ability to do so without discomfort and pain.
Yes, It is inspiring when you see much older people still regularly exercising. RUclips's "Sassy Gran" exercises everyday at 95. I also recently enjoyed seeing the RUclips clip of the woman in her 80s who is still a skilled rollerskater! 👱♀️❤
Your last couple of videos have been especially insightful. Loved what you said about delayed gratification. So often people seek out the quick solution and oftentimes it takes hard work, slow and consistent practices ❤️ I stopped coloring my hair almost 2 years ago and it almost forces me to be even better with taking care of my skin, my body, eating right in order to stay looking youthful. Dumping hair dye on one’s head isn’t going to make you look better or younger if you’re eating poorly and not exercising etc.
Personally a simple routine really worked way better for me! Cleansing, moisturizer and spf (a serum when i felt like it) before I was using too many ingredients and it was just overwhelming
I think one of the things I love most about Dr Dray (besides being an angel sent from heaven above, The Goddess of Skincare) is that as lovely and classy as she is today....we all get glimpses of her wild child past. She clearly knows her hip/hop and a tongue ring???? Yeah I see you Dr Dray!
Yes, Dr.Dray is sensible when it's necessary...but otherwise ultra fun and hilarious when there's no need to be serious. I enjoy how she is not at all lazy with the English language, and doesn't speak in clichés and platitudes like many RUclipsrs do.. Dr Dray is definitely no □. 👱♀️❤
Apropos your discussion about comfort, I just picked up The Comfort Crisis (and by that I mean sent it to my kindle). Michael Ester looks into our current state of comfort and seeks ways challenging ourselves could make us stronger. So far I’m really enjoying it!
I am new to skincare and definitely has fallen into the trap of putting on too many layers of different product on my face. I will definitely try to simplify my routine going forward since just I don’t even see a big change or even know what works what doesn’t.
"Biking in Houston surely a high risk bx"😂 you remind me of an intelligent grumpy old lady that used to be a professor. Ha! Love it :) Pen junky here too!!
So agree with the discipline! People advocate for "not being too hard on yourself" but if that comes in the shape of only eating junk and being sedentary that shouldnt then that is the opposite of self love and self care..
I’m going to watch the video tonight due to golf course chronicles. I am wearing my Draybrero hat which has a 6 inch brim just wanted to chime in and tell the sunscreen following army! With this hat bye sun! 😁😁☀️
Love Cameron’s! This just reminded me why I loved my French press & why I ever stopped using it?! I was just looking at driving gloves, I am so very fair & want to keep my hands as free from sunspots as possible.
I so agree, keep it simple! When I get complicated, my skin lets me know. I take Vit C. I hope it helps. Thanks for all you do Dr. Dray! Thanks for talking to us about instant gradification!!!
Recording and driving down Kirby. Impressive! So glad you mentioned to keep it simple ! That’s exactly what I do and I get so many compliments on my skin. So glad I found your channel!
Hi Dr.Dray, i used to live in Houston. i left bc it was too hot and large crowds and the city life started giving me anxiety. i love the outdoors a lot - mountains and skiing. silly question but don't you miss Colorado and cooler temperatures? With you tube you can live where you want, would you consider another place or did you grow to like Houston? The city doesn't overwhelm you like it does to me? i love your videos and your advice on many things are spot on. hello to your mom and Tybe xo.
I’m not white, I grew up in Tx. I will never return there because of racism. I love your videos, but honestly living in Tx is much easier for someone like you.
Loved your vlog today. Found your skin care advice regarding keeping it simple very helpful and really enjoyed your splashes of life advice as well. Very encouraging and uplifting. It's good to be reminded of the vital importance of discipline and delayed gratification. Thank you for a great video!
Thank you for continuing to talk about simple skincare routines. I was first sucked into skincare by watching Hyram and Susan Yara, and while I still watch them, I’ve become disenchanted by their content because I feel like they push way too many ingredients and products and it’s not sustainable, encouraging or financially responsible. I bought Oo many products at first and it was expensive and stressful, so I’m glad I started watching your videos. Plus I’ve seen more improvement with a simpler routine and using tried and true products.
My daughter-in-law discovered Hoka One One when she worked as an LVN for a sports podiatrist. He even wore them in surgery! recently, I had to visit a podiatrist, and I noticed that he, too, wore Hoka One Ones. He recommended them to me for my painful, arthritic feet, with an addition of carbon fiber insoles💕. Pure heaven for my aching feet💝
“Sit back and relax yourself, let your conscience be free” that hit in so many ways, not just skin care.

Happy Saturday Andrea! I LOVE my Brooks, I started wearing them a few years back and I've been very happy with every pair. Totally worth the money. 😎
I definitely have an obsession with stacking skin care products. I have started rotating days. There’s too much out there. 😩
There's too much of everything indeed. You don't need it all, right now. 💖😊
"Peripheral brain"... I LOVE it! I have 2 planners - one for personal stuff and one for work. Can't function without them!
This is how we do it 🎵 You don’t wanna step to me 😁 I would love to see your playlists! Made my day
Keep moving is key.
👱♀️❤
My dad turned 80 on the 1st and he can can legit outwork my boys and husband. And he's up out of bed at 4am 😆
I just love it when she sings a cappella! Makes me happy inside :-)
Personally a simple routine really worked way better for me! Cleansing, moisturizer and spf (a serum when i felt like it) before I was using too many ingredients and it was just overwhelming
Fun Saturday vibes sunscreen, smiles, and sandals lol. 💛🐎💛🐎❤❤🐎🐎
👱♀️❤
I watched this quite a few times but didn't see a tongue ring. 😞
@@pamburkey6252 she doesn’t have anymore. It was in her younger years. You didn’t miss it 😀
@@alyshal417 Thank you! Thought I missed it! 👍
@@pamburkey6252 welcome!
Dr. Dray knows all of the old school rap songs. I caught that 1:29, "if you know like I know, you don't want to step to this." 🤭
The last 5 minutes was really incentive. Thank you Dr Dray 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Night time, cleanse, differin, moisturizer.
Morning, no cleanse and sunscreen.
Thanks for the advice Dr Dray. My skin has improved significantly after discovering you. Listening to you is so theraputic ❤️
Dr dray gives the best advice shes changed my skin for the better follow her advise guys! Sunscreen is key!
Thanks 😊
Apropos your discussion about comfort, I just picked up The Comfort Crisis (and by that I mean sent it to my kindle). Michael Ester looks into our current state of comfort and seeks ways challenging ourselves could make us stronger. So far I’m really enjoying it!
Me: procrastinating going to the gym by watching Dr. Dray.
*by the end of the video I’m listening and getting ready for the gym.
I am new to skincare and definitely has fallen into the trap of putting on too many layers of different product on my face. I will definitely try to simplify my routine going forward since just I don’t even see a big change or even know what works what doesn’t.
'Honestly keep it simple guys, I say that but here I am not keeping it simple and taking one of the most congested avenues' XD I love Dr Dray
3:12 my favorite moment of the video
Happy Saturday
Happy Saturday uncle Charlie enjoy your day 😊 🌼🌻
Greetings U.Charlie hope u r well n Happy Saturday😀👍💜....
Greetings Peg B hope u r well n Happy Saturday😀👍💜....
Hi Uncle Charlie! Happy Saturday!! I hope you had fun at the golf tournament and your friend did well. I'm sure you rocked the Draybrero!!!👒
You are so right about the modern society and instant gratification. I'm so glad I'm not alone in thinking so
Love Cameron’s! This just reminded me why I loved my French press & why I ever stopped using it?! I was just looking at driving gloves, I am so very fair & want to keep my hands as free from sunspots as possible.
Thanks Dr Dray - so much good info. Loved the ending with delayed gratification and discipline. Very encouraging for positive change in my life.
I so agree, keep it simple! When I get complicated, my skin lets me know. I take Vit C. I hope it helps. Thanks for all you do Dr. Dray! Thanks for talking to us about instant gradification!!!
Dr Dray I am waiting for the day you announce YOUR OWN brand of sunscreen... Unscented or COFFEE SCENTED! Happy Saturday 😁
I have wondered the same thing, especially considering the sun and hot weather. Maybe she stays there to be closer to her mom.
Thanks for that end bit about non-instant gratification. So true.
I’m not white, I grew up in Tx. I will never return there because of racism. I love your videos, but honestly living in Tx is much easier for someone like you.
Love Dr. Dray's vlogs. The advice at the end was full of wisdom.
Loved your vlog today. Found your skin care advice regarding keeping it simple very helpful and really enjoyed your splashes of life advice as well. Very encouraging and uplifting. It's good to be reminded of the vital importance of discipline and delayed gratification. Thank you for a great video!
Question, would tinting your car window cut down on the sun rays?
Thanks for this - I just purchased the book The Marshmallow Test that talks all about delayed gratification. We should all learn this skill.
Skin care. Ibotta. Discipline. Value in Delayed Gratification. Dr Dray, you are like “Yoda” - the guide or mentor, everyone needs in life.
Love your words of wisdom at the end there! Do more of these wisdom talks!!! So helpful!
Happy Saturday girl!! Out here keeping it simple. We love a minimalist queen. ✌😂💓
Happy Saturday
Thanks! Super insightful... never “met” another Dray that’s not a part of my family!!! Have you? Loved this!!
Love the talk about discipline at the end.
I'm a nurse assistant and I bought some Brookes shoes! Oh my god they feel amazing! I'm always on me feet with my patients 👏🏼happy Saturday 💕
