Sadly that was the fate of nearly every Saturn launch title, with "part 2"/"remix" or how I would call them "the rest of the game"/"what we actually meant to release" coming out literal months later. the only game that felt like a finished product that was ready to hit the shelves was Panzer Dragoon but even there you could argue if they had a few more months to work on it they could make it run at 30 fps instead of choppy 20.
@@RetroGameSpacko I played both the OG and Remix versions of VF, the OG version is as rough as the come tho the gameplay across the 2 versions is unchanged Pai will destroy your life regardless of fhich one you pick.
This game has been living rent free in my head for so long and I couldn't remember what it was called, finally I just searched game where you play as clockwork toy and found this!
Both Clockwork Knight games are pure bliss. It's a shame we never got another game after the second one. A remaster or a rerelease (preferably of Pepperouchau no Fukubukuro, the compilation disc) would really make me happy
I only played the demo as well. My brother had a Saturn and whenever he wasn't playing I'd jump on this game. 1997; so much nostalgia (even though the game came out in '95).
@@kingsiah5103 I believe both Clockwork Knight games released in 1995. The deal was apparently there never was supposed to be two parts to the game. Either the developers didn't have time to finish the entire product and split them up. (or) They split the game in two to increase their profits on a game they thought might not have a huge impact here in the states. I had a Saturn and even though I was interested in getting both games I never did. I always wound up buying either something different on the Saturn or a Playstation game (I had them both).
I love this game it was one of the first i bought for my saturn well CWK 1 the graphics were impressive for its time and that killer music, i wish sega would do an update verison and make it available for the next gen consoles and pc
I can't describe the emotion I am having watching this... I have been playing thins game in 96-97 and haven't seen in since the late 90s. Looking at this playtrough I can recall every inch of these levels :D This was an amazing jump and run game. Love it. The Clockwork tower levels were a pain in the a$$ having to jump from pillar to pillar.
For those who say the Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts is wholly original...Just come back to this video....and the keyblade's design is even dumber when you realize a house key design would pull of the blade look better than a damn wind up key
still find it really weird how the international versions of this game just don't bother translating the very short infrequent text blurbs before the start of a level,, coming off the Japanese version it just feels kinda lame
I agree, the little before-level conversations add character to the, well, characters! I know the Normal difficulty texts were translated on youtube, but ive yet to see the Easy and Hard ones translated, iirc the characters say different things depending on the difficulty
I never got the chance to get or play the Clockwork Knight games on my Saturn. At least we have these playthroughs...and it appears as if this is the only English version on all of RUclips. Wait...I thought your character had a conversation with a fellow toy before starting the level? Did you cut that part out perchance? If so, no worries...if not then it's a Japanese exclusive thing which would be interesting.
The pre-level dialogues are Japanese-exclusive, yes. Which is a shame, as the personalities of the side characters shine in those little conversations! I suspect they were deemed unimportant by Sega of Europe & America, hence them not getting translated.
It did get a US release pretty much most of the important sega first party games in the early life of that system(Excluding Sakura Wars of course) got released in Europe and US. In fact there are far more games not released in Europe compared to what US missed out on not on just the Saturn but in general. If you think you had it bad with getting Xenoblade Chronicles a little bit later than Europe, check out just HOW many games were never released in Europe or were delayed by literal years by the publishers. Often times the European version featured slowed down gamplay stretched screen with incorrect proportions and bugs that made them crash at random points or worse at specific points making the games unbeatable. For worst EU releases look no further than Shadow Hearts from the New World and Wild Arms 4.
That second boss is literally impossible on hard. I used save states and hit the boss every chance I got. Only once did the second phase I had to skip one chance to attack. Beat it with a second to spare. Wtf were they thinking with that one? Already near impossible to hit the damn thing and also dodge him because his hit box is so small but your hit box seems gigantic. Was taking damage when he didn't enough touch me XD The second game suuuuucks compared to the first

It’s an amazing game
A 2D sonic would have been great but this game is good especially considering its worth more than the 2D sonic games...
This is an excellent game. However, the game engine it uses would have been perfect for Saturn exclusive Sonic. Missed opportunity.
Better for me, never liked sonic much, it`s too fast and you miss too much going that fast
