When I was 15 I bought a toploader for 125$. 2 weeks later I spun the 2nd gear synco teeth right out like corn on the cob. Bought a gear at Ford for 25$...friend worked parts desk should been 75$. Put all back together with Peterson magazine. Went out to Mt Sac Airport lane...rowing Gears till trans completely locked out. Grabbing a rock I pounded on the shifter rods from underneath and got it home. 25 cent spring for detent pins had dropped out during assembly. I almost tossed a great trans for stupid mistake. Worked flawless in my 14 sec race mustang! After that toploader were easy
My thoughts are if i was doing road course type running or cruising i would pick the aluminum case because its lighter and the aluminum should help disapate heat, But if your drag racing with hard launches i'd rather have the cast iron case over cast aluminum case because the iron isn't going to flex as much under hard load as cast aluminum. If the case is billet aluminum i'm not sure which i'd pick.
I would crawl underneath and check out the shift rods. Maybe one of them slipped out of adjustment. Disconnect the shift rods and see if you can manually move the shift arms in and out of each gear. Then follow the procedure for adjusting the shifter.
I added the parts lists to the description. It looks like the rebuild kit is currently out of stock at Allstategear but you can get it (BK135HDWS) from several other places.

I rebuild them all the time one thing i see is 3-4 synchrois backwords three lines should be facing foward
My 3spd manual was pushed into neutral without using clutch. And now it's stuck in gear. Any ideas how to fix this?
