You really can’t blame Genya. The king was literally abusing her for years. She thought what she had to do but the truth is Kirigan manipulated her and the king destroyed her. The poor girl never had a chance in life.

The show alludes to Genya’s backstory, but there’s so much more in the books and the short story “The Tailor.” The Darkling/Kirigan “gifted” Genya to the queen when she was 9 I think. Then the king r@ped her when she was 12. Genya ran to Kirigan and begged him to get her out of there. Instead, he manipulated her, a child, into staying. She was Kirigan’s spy within the palace. The king r@ped her nearly every night. When Kirigan gave her the go-ahead, she poisoned the king. It didn’t kill him, but put him in a lot of pain and incapacitated him, making him unable to rule.
That is misinformation. Kirigan offered to remove her from the palace and king or to continue to act as a spy, to one day get revenge. I hate people like you twisting Kirigan's character into someone who condones grape when he never did. He did the best he could for her considering the circumstances and his position/power.
