Great review! This car was not redesigned for 2021, it was refreshed. The next redesign will be for the 2024 model year if Toyota sticks with a 6-year generation. I just picked mine up (White XSE with black roof and A-pillars) this week!

While I still give the Accord top marks for overall polish, fit and finish(especially interior materials), and design, nobody can call the Camry boring anymore. I love that Camry went adventurous with the styling in 2018, and it still looks good. The 2.5L 4cyl is behind the Accord 1.5T in performance and polish, but it is typical Toyota 4cyl and will last forever. Now the 2GRFE V6 is in a different league, especially since Toyota fixed the shift logic of the 8spd trans. That engine has served Toyota well over the years. Toyota's years of being at the top helped it escape the downward trend of cars not being cool anymore. In fact, they manage to keep the Camry selling well on the same lot as the RAV4 and Highlander that take no effort to sell.
It’s not like the Camry is sloppy. Some outlets have said the Camry is right up there with the accord. I will say the current Camry 4 cylinder is not as refined as the accord 1.5T. That’s because I used to own a 2012 Camry SE, and I thought that 4 cylinder was very smooth and quiet. It wasn’t buzzy at high rpms. In fact it sounded almost v6 like which isn’t a bad thing. After I drove a rav4 and Camry w the same engine, I was rather disappointed with how noisy the 4 cyl engine was. It was an easy choice to pay extra for the v6 But I think that the v6 Camry feels more refined than the accord 2.0. Plus the Camry offers nice touches not offered in any accord like the pano roof, 8 way power passenger seat, 360 cam, better stereo speakers, led interior lighting, ambient lighting, full led exterior lighting front and back. Plus the v6 is so quiet, almost Lexus like. It’ll also outlast the accord since there’s no turbo and I’m not really onboard the turbo bandwagon. Plus like bmw, Honda tunes their turbo for performance rather than mainly efficiency, like GMs 1.4L Turbo and 1.5L turbo. I’m no overt Camry fan boy as some may say, but more of a naturally aspirated v6 fanboy. If this gen Camry had a turbo instead of a v6, I wouldn’t even have considered or bought the Camry. Instead, I would have bought a used v6 Camry or v6 accord touring instead if the Honda 6 speed auto checks out fine.

@@Superfastjellyfish669 that’s not actually true. On the XSE and XLE 4 cylinder or hybrid, you can get the head up display as part of the driver assist package. Only The xle v6 and XSE v6 come standard with the head up display. So you’re not forced to get the v6 if you want all the top end features. You can get them with the 4 cylinder or hybrid in the xle and XSE models
I love these Camrys! This one you reviewed with the pano roof OMG! If I could just get one of these that’s hybrid. I don’t know if the ‘23 would offer more choices like the Pano roof & red interior. I didn’t think the 4 cyl. XSE was bad to drive, sure it had the 8 speed transmission. I also drove a ‘21 SE hybrid, which has the CVT. I think either is fine. As far as Honda, I drove ‘22 models. I wasn’t really impressed with the Accord hybrid, and actually liked the Civic touring better. I’ve been comparison shopping this year. I also drove a new Kia K5, that particular model didn’t have the pano roof to compare. It was nice, but they have no hybrids yet. In my opinion, from what I’ve experienced, the Camry wins. It’s just a matter of if I can get which one with the right options.
I got the white, black, and red interior, fully loaded, heads up display, heat/cooled seats. Everything but the keyless entry, which is on the windshield A pillar. Didn't like that.
I love mine too,. in the wind chill pearl white.. I was going to get an xse but it was not as quiet and did not ride as well. Those two upper trim designs are worth the extra price.. I got rid of a 2019 Accord EXL ,the Camry is so much smoother.

So I’m planning on Leasing a 2021 Dodge Charger GT, and now I’m looking at this car, I’ve always understood that Toyotas and Hondas are reliable, and not the mention Hyundais, but I never really thought I would look into getting it, so which one do you think is better to lease, the Camry or Dodge Charger?
Don't forget the fake quad tipped exhaust. The outer tip is fake, welded to the inner tip. I suggest if it bugs you like it did to me, get an aftermarket cat-back system or the TRD exhaust.
It's just whatever you want.. They are both great cars I just don't want no turbo engine.. They are not as good for City driving.. I do a lot of City driving.
@Jose Carranza Polio They are both about the same size and same classification.. Turbo engines are better on the open road than doing short trips.. They also build up carbon faster as they do not get a chance to warm up and they throw more gas to the engine when you push in the turbo.. They are straight direct injection. The Camry has direct injection and port injection and it washes the valves and does not build up carbon like a direct injection engine does.. I used to have a 2019 Accord EXL 2.0, at times it did not run smooth if I did not take it on the road and get it hot and drive it about 70 mph.. I also noticed the tailpipe on the Camry Burns real clean and you can touch inside of it and nothing is in it.. the Accord had more of a sutty tailpipe and it even got on the bumpers at times.. my Accord was Platinum pearl white.. my new Camry is wind chill pearl white. It also has parking assist and has the sensors on the bumper to wear the Honda did not. And all the lighting is LEDs.. I like both of them..
@Jose Carranza Polio There could be several reasons it sells better they're both very good cars.. Camry sales are always number one as far as a midsize car and the Honda Accord is always second place in the midsize car segment... The only time the Accord had more sales than the Camry was in 2001. .Everything else trails well behind those two ,including Nissan Altima.. and following way behind the Nissan Altima is the Kia optima and Hyundai sonata.... Recently replaced by the K5. This generation of the Honda Accord that started in 2018 is not selling as well as the previous generations.. it still has good sales and is second place.
@Jose Carranza Polio The car makers will do what they want to do I don't think they care what the customers think.. I think it was a bad move when Honda started putting cvts in the Accords.. that was a downer for me as I have always bought them since 2001.. some people like turbos however I do not. My sister buys Accords as well and she said she was switching to Camry as well as she does not want a turbo engine.. they gave her a loaner at the Honda place which was a 2020 Accord sport SE.. she did not like it. She said the heater did not heat up well and the engine was too loud every time she pressed on it the turbo kicked in. It was a 1.5.
The touring Accord is the top trim line for Accords and the xse and XLE are the top trim lines for the Camry.. the main difference is the touring is pretty much standard and you cannot add on to it. You can get them for about 37 Grand.. you can get an xse or XLE and add options like a V6 and it pushes the price up to 41. You can buy the Camry with less options on it for a better price even in the top trims.. Honda just does not give you a choice on options. For an example a Honda Accord LX is standard and you cannot even get a power seat on it.. you can buy a Toyota Camry LE and get a power seat a moonroof and upgraded infotainment center as well as touch entry and garage door openers.. things you would have to go up to an EXL to get on a Honda..
I'm real disappointed Toyota removed the cruise control stalk on the 2018 model. It seems other Models of Toyotas have gotten rid of it as swell. It's much more user confident in my opinion than the steering wheel controls. It's also an established branding mark that Toyota has been using for decades. Sad to see it go. It's my favorite feature on my dad's 95 Avalon
I'm surprised that you never mentioned if this transmission shifts smoothly unlike the first 3 years of this model. I was very surprised that the problem was never fixed by Toyota after three full years of the same model, and complained about by so many!
Yo warning for any buyer I got a brand new ass car and thankfully I'm in warranty but a quick Google search and you'll find you need to avoid the panoramic roof like the plague!! It's pretty much guaranteed to break and it's super common. If you're not in warranty it cost $8k to fix do not spring for the panoramic sunroof like me
Thanks I was definitely worried about that. Because I plan on getting a Camry XSE hopefully soon. Regardless I always question panoramic roofs honestly. It just looks like something that could break easily. Although that’s just my own worries. Thanks though. Glad to have stumbled across your comment.
Those wheels get REALLY expensive if you live somewhere with potholes. I think I'd rather live with the catfish looks of the Sonata vs. whatever hot mess is going on with the Camry anime design.
The sonata is a mess.. and they have the worst resale in the industry.. No🚫 dealership wants to get those on a trade they have to wholesale them off to get rid of them. 🤪 If you are upside down most dealers will tell you they can't trade with you .I talked to a salesman and he told me most come in on trade with a deficient balance of over 13k...
The Camry looks good although I feel like it still has some of that bland interior look that Toyotas have had for years. Might be the gage cluster or infotainment screen look or something.
My 2019 Accord EXL 2.0 was a lot more bland looking on the inside than my 2020 Camry.. The Camry has a lot more detail inside... the Honda was just more plain.. the leather looks nicer in my Camry than my Accord did. I also have two tone gray leather seats something you can't get in an accord.
@@nickkrikorian5909 When I first saw that last September on the 2021 review I thought I was seeing things.. it's the same as Honda now.. I bought a 2020 Camry XLE last year..that was the first car I had had with hood struts in a long time as I always bought accords and they had the hood prop.. 😆
It's still better looking than any crossover. Sedans at least have a good overall shape that can be improved with any design whereas crossovers are shaped like potatoes on wheels and can never look good.
We tested a 2020 XSE against a 2021 Accord Touring. The Camry was noisier on the inside, the material and build quality was inferior, and the seats weren't as comfortable. Those 3 made us choose the Accord. We love our Accord Touring 2.0T and it will boogy for a family car. But one thing that I am very proud of Toyota for doing: Keeping the V6. VERY stout powertrain and silky smooth.
I personally like the 2020 dash better. The infotainment system looks like an after thought, looks like a tablet stuck to the dash. That's the reason i picked the camry over the 2020 Accord.
I'm not gonna fault this car for its strengths. This just isn't as appealing to me as the Sonata or even the Altima. The Mazda6 is also quite interesting. For me, the Camry is my last option for mid-sized sedans.
This is good but, Hyundai Sonata and Kia k5 just beat this in every way it’s not even close, and don’t give me “ItS ReLIaBle” like give me any other reason as to why a Toyota is a better choice

Great review guys, one of your best!! I wish Toyota would manufacture a SE-V-6 version!! Not every one wants the boy-racer styling of the TRD, but don't get me wrong, the TRD is a great version of the Camry!!

Awesome Review Bro, Also I Love This Car By The Way 😎😎😎🔥🔥🔥👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
This is the second time I have watched this review and you gentlemen do an excellent job! Keep up the good work! New subscriber here. :)
Thank you, Terence! Welcome to the 'family'!
you said it was fully loaded? no Driver Assist with cooled seats, Birds Eye Camera and HUD. Great review but not Fully loaded..
I like the black Interior with the red Seats 👌
Excellent review!
Also FYI I don’t think your XSE tester is fully loaded. You’re missing the driver assist package
Also FYI he mentions that at 7:02. Watch the video in its entirety before commenting, numb nuts 🥜
It doesn’t have the six cylinder engine or the cooled seats.
@@linhunnicutt6556 yup. If I buy another Camry it better have every single bell and whistle
They also don’t offer the heads up display on an models except for the V6
@@Superfastjellyfish669 that’s not actually true. On the XSE and XLE 4 cylinder or hybrid, you can get the head up display as part of the driver assist package.
Only The xle v6 and XSE v6 come standard with the head up display. So you’re not forced to get the v6 if you want all the top end features. You can get them with the 4 cylinder or hybrid in the xle and XSE models
Does it comes in v6 xse
I’m stuck between the supersonic red exterior or having a red interior 🙃
I just bought one and it’s definitely red interior for me 😁
You can have both
Do you think red cockpit interior would look nice in the supersonic red with black roof?
Some may say too much red lol
But to each their own 🤷♂️
I wish I could trade in my RAV4 hybrid for the Camry XSE hybrid with a red interior
What's stopping you? Surely not Toyota's legendary trade-in and resale value.
Another Great job on the ins and outside of this Camry learned all I needed to know about this Vehicle Great Job Guys stay safe 👊👊
Very nice
Good review, except that it isn't "fully loaded" if it doesn't have the head up display feature that comes with the driver assist package, correct?
I got the white, black, and red interior, fully loaded, heads up display, heat/cooled seats. Everything but the keyless entry, which is on the windshield A pillar. Didn't like that.
Hi: Great video! How does the XSE compare to the Mazda 6???
Good to see a refreshed sporty car especially now with all these over produced suvs.
This or base Lexus ES. Do a comparison
I just love my 2020 Camry xle awd.
I love mine too,. in the wind chill pearl white.. I was going to get an xse but it was not as quiet and did not ride as well. Those two upper trim designs are worth the extra price.. I got rid of a 2019 Accord EXL ,the Camry is so much smoother.
@@randyjackson347 what was wrong w the 19 accord out of curiosity?
@@randyjackson347 I own a 19 Accord Touring 2.0t it’s very smooth.
@@naveenthemachine It was a little loud and coarse.. It also leaked some oil around the turbo at times.... I carried it in a couple of times and they said they tightened up a few things and did some other adjustments, but after a few hundred miles you could still tell it was still leaking a little.I do a lot of town driving and it was not that good for that.. It was a lot better on the road..
@@drewbenefield2001 I think some cars are just made better than others.. The one I had must have been made on a Monday..Mine a few rattles that I never could get fixed in the dash..

You said car was fully loaded but I’m not seeing the Driver Assist Package. No birds eye camera, no heated and cool seats and no HUD. Good review though.
It certainly looks flashy enough and sporty but why the cheap disc brakes single sliders why not multicalliper brakes to go with the sporty looks?
The Camry has come a long way. It used to be just a boring family hauler.
Any word on when the 2022 Camry cars will be available?
Haven't heard anything yet
november info straight from toyota
I need Toyota to change that start up bong. Even GM changed theirs that they have used since the literal 90’s
What more do you want? This is a leap over the Accord. Great styling, butter smooth and reliable engine, class leading interior and a panoramic sunroof!!!!
Also it has a v6
Also I don’t think the interior is really class leading over the accord for instance. But the red interior in the Camry is sexy
You should review the 2022 Camry SE/XSE
Hopefully soon!
Thanks! 2022 Camry removed the L trim.
Or the 2021 Camry XSE Hybrid.
Why does the US version come fully loaded 🙄 but the middle east version you pay more for the fully version but still doesn’t come with these features
Yup I’m about to trade in my 2019 xse V6 and get the 2021 lol
The updated IS doesn’t even come with LED rear turn signals I’m sold Toyota
Haha nice review I guess other than this is not the fully loaded xse as you mentioned so many times this hot red color you did doesn’t even have JBL sound system no birds eye view camera I only know cause I have a fully loaded xse camry
You can never go wrong with a camry. Dodge charger........ I would never use it as a daily driver concerning reliability and mpg
Is this faster than a 2019 Camry XSE V6 and a 2019 Honda Accord 2.0T Sport? Which vehicle would you recommend for the long term. Thanks.
Never think Long term when turbos are I involved. Go with the naturally aspirated toyota 3.5 v6
Don't forget the fake quad tipped exhaust. The outer tip is fake, welded to the inner tip. I suggest if it bugs you like it did to me, get an aftermarket cat-back system or the TRD exhaust.
I wanted a v6 and awd but they don't produce that so I settled with the 4cyl to get the awd, I'm up in Canada.
😫I want this car Soo bad but I ended up getting the 21 Hyundai Elantra. Don't get me wrong I love my car if I could have both I would
Do these come with remote start?
Not fully loaded because you don’t have the front view camera and front/rear parking sensors and cooled seats 😉
Is this better than the Honda Accord Touring?
Dammm were can i get those prices
I'm real disappointed Toyota removed the cruise control stalk on the 2018 model. It seems other Models of Toyotas have gotten rid of it as swell.
It's much more user confident in my opinion than the steering wheel controls. It's also an established branding mark that Toyota has been using for decades. Sad to see it go. It's my favorite feature on my dad's 95 Avalon
Compare Camry XSE Vs Sonata N Line

Idk haha
My Camry 2022 rear camera at night looks black and white and foggy, can someone explain if it’s normal ??
No

I'm surprised that you never mentioned if this transmission shifts smoothly unlike the first 3 years of this model. I was very surprised that the problem was never fixed by Toyota after three full years of the same model, and complained about by so many!
I wonder why david de gea change from goalkeeper to car review ,Man united wannna sell more car
That’s the case with all vehicle with low profile tires
The sonata is a mess.. and they have the worst resale in the industry.. No🚫 dealership wants to get those on a trade they have to wholesale them off to get rid of them. 🤪
If you are upside down most dealers will tell you they can't trade with you .I talked to a salesman and he told me most come in on trade with a deficient balance of over 13k...
@@naveenthemachine EXACTLY
@@randyjackson347 you’re a mess. 😂 LOL
That's why I bought the 1000$ 7 year road hazard protection. That way I get free tires and wheels regardless of what happens.

I don’t think it’s as bland as before. Toyota did put some design and emotion into it and it’s paid off.

Not a big fan of the Toyota lines looks the last couple years. Sporty looking camry's... It's a sedan. It needs a little chrome, less gangster.
Well that’s what happens when automotive journalists say Toyota is boring.
It's still better looking than any crossover. Sedans at least have a good overall shape that can be improved with any design whereas crossovers are shaped like potatoes on wheels and can never look good.
What do ya think is better Honda Accord or Toyota Camry?
The Camry looks better and will probably last a little longer. The Accord is a little faster. You can’t go wrong with either.
Toyota all the way. Honda is great too. Can’t go wrong with either one
Honda Accord all day plus the Elite Touring pkg has features even the Lexus ES dies have like HUD and rear heated seats
I had a 2014 accord. Sold it due to the ride quality and noise
I just hate the half assed screen sticking out in the middle of the dash. If it was better designed from the beginning it would look better.
It’s not that bad. I’ve seen worse. Explorer cough cough
This looks more like the Avalon in terms of screen placement than say a rav4 or Corolla
You need to look at a Ford Explorer. 🤣🤣
I personally like the 2020 dash better. The infotainment system looks like an after thought, looks like a tablet stuck to the dash. That's the reason i picked the camry over the 2020 Accord.
@@garylittle8985 yeah. I like the 2020 style too

I'm not gonna fault this car for its strengths. This just isn't as appealing to me as the Sonata or even the Altima. The Mazda6 is also quite interesting. For me, the Camry is my last option for mid-sized sedans.
People need to stop sleeping on Mazda
Don’t forget Honda Accord is also nice
🤣
Price of new cars is absolutely ridiculous lmao get a grip
This is good but, Hyundai Sonata and Kia k5 just beat this in every way it’s not even close, and don’t give me “ItS ReLIaBle” like give me any other reason as to why a Toyota is a better choice
How about resale value? Toyota wins every time
