- This clip features former SoP drummer Dennis Rondum performing Church of Deviance live in Manchester, NH Nov.22 2003. This was filmed during the Bloodletting North America IV tour.
280+ BPM blasts sounding that good on a cam from 2003 that close to the kit. Holy fuck this guys a legend. \m/
Fucking hell, this is almost 300bpm he is casually blasting away here. Insane...
@@oatboat3760 the recorded is 280 - 300 this is faster than 300.
Fucking insane blasts oh my god. Dennis lays down some fast as SHIT blasts and then growls like a fucking beast. He's the man.
Please come back.🤘🥁
The reason why Dennis left spawn to begin with was begin when they released Noctambulant in 2006, they had a massive tour coming up for it, and he said he played the songs over and over so much that he had them down perfectly, but his heart wasn't in drumming anymore and that he just needed to step away for a while, he states it in an interview he had with Metal Sickness, pretty interesting stuff
Buddy I just spent an hour trying to find an explanation.
I can't even tell you how long it took me to figure out why he parted from spawn bro. Haha I thought I would share
He is with spawn again, only not drumming. He is their full-time vocalist now, and has been since their latest release (Incurso).
Hawkan Johansson Thanks for the info good to know, so awesome how talented that guy is, makes a bit more sense now, always wondered how they were able to get all instruments into such a technical rhythm
one of most underrated DM drummers
I met Dennis and the bassist at the time, Niklas Dewerud, on my way to a Morbid Angel show in 2005. Was walking down the street and heard some guy yelling "Nice shirts!" at me and my friend because we were both wearing SoP shirts and I was a huge fan at the time. He was a great dude, offered us both free copies of Cabinet, though I already owned it so I declined. Walked to the gig together and hung out for a bit, was definitely one of the highlights of my late teens.
Dennis Rondum was one of the best drummers Tech death had to offer. Right up there with George Kollias, John Longstreth, Derek Roddy, & Vitek.
0:00 "eeEEEeeEEeeee"
Insane. This song normal is the fastest I could play it, I cant even get this fast for 20 second of the song, this guy is insane, this is fucking 2003 too! I thought I had a great finger technique, this guy must have some incredible power
He's amazing, no lies.
I love that beat when he switches from the high hat to hit the snare
Well said. He is one of the best metal drummer the earth has ever seen, but also the fastest blastbeater around
Thanks for the upload! youtube needs more SoP!
Favorite blasts ever.
jeus what a blast beat thats amazing
@DrTaz Nope, he's not. Gravity blasts basically require you to bounce the middle of the stick against the drum, hence using gravity to your advantage. This is straight up blasting.
SICK SICK SICK
No gravity blasts in this song, you can tell because the technique has a very specific hand position, where the stick is moving up down kinda like a seesaw. He's just doing it with fingers, which is far beyond my capabilities.
holy shit....
he was a fucking good vocalist on the first album too and in visceral bleeding
Wow that was awesome!
fast as hell
What an absolute beast!!
i know most blasts are done like that, but i think dennis does the suffocation/smith blast, wich is everything at the same time..
He does it because he loves it.
@homelessathome Dude!!!! Awesome!!!! I check on SoP every couple months, glad to hear this news!!!
Dennis is soo cool. Worked with him. And Niklas too. They are very nice guys.
insane
You dont see a drummer like this everyday. Shit.
hes a fucking amazing vocalist too
thats pure fucking hatred ... so good
Kära gamla dennis. Riktigt duktig du har blivit! :)
Sickest blast beats comes from dennis!
Sweet. Jesus.
Idk what I like him better on drums or vocals!?
310 bpm is true, he's the fucking man of grinding
they're also really underground and not that well known but they're so fucking talented.
Oh, my, god.
You certainly don't get into extreme metal drumming for the money! Dennis is the man.
BEST
Not sure what you mean. During the blastbeats he is alternating between the snare and cymbal (if he used both hands on the snare it would be an extremely fast drum roll L/R/LR), but he does one bassdrum stroke at the same time he hits the cymbal (alternating right and left foot) and the snare stroke in between. Anyhow, we probably mean the same thing. Great guitar vids you got, they are are brilliant
metalhans actually he's hitting the snare bass drum and ride all at the same time, not alternating like a traditional blast
@xisengrinx seriously no idea. they are recording/mastering right now. probably in winter/spring 2012.
Fastest blastbeat ever. Too bad he left. Amazing. Nobody gets near his speed when it comes too his hands. Check out "Scorched" from the latest album. He blastbeats 16th notes at 310 bpm!!!!!
8th notes lol
I wish I could time-travel back to when you posted this 🥲😭😭😭
This particular song is about 270 bpm 16th notes with 2 hands. The song Scorched he plays 16th notes at 310 bpm again 2 hands. If you only count the strokes of one hand obviously it's gonna be half that. That's how the rythmic world works
@pstuddn but hey, he returned to the SoP a couple of months ago.
Just uncovered these guys for myself today.....I'm pretty fucking impressed.
Christ! That's some muthefuckin' drumming right there!
@DrTaz It's not gravity, it's normal blast
Yes,he is a drumming machine.I feel so sorry for his leaving this great band.....
i thought i heard a machine gun firing..tatatatatatatatatatatatatatataaaaaaaat!
this is not human!
@mquirk00 he actually rejoined sop and is doing vocals
Even the snare sounds evil
@homelessathome yeah i know i'm stoked
@xisengrinx It Will be Realesed Somtime in the spring of 2012.
O.O gooooddam
@gurkenhamster He's their new vocalist after Chalky left.
Dennis is the sickest blaster ever,I wish he could rejoin SOP behind the kit,not behind the mic
Unfuckingbelievable.
within the death metal community, yes. but deathcore is slowly building it's own community, some of them are quite popular
That doesn't make total sense though, as he's hitting the snare and cymbal at the same time. If he were alternating, what you're saying would make sense, however he's not. So really he's playing 8th notes at 270/310/whatever.
Never said George couldn't do it. He probably could but blasting at 290 BPM tempos and higher without the use of gravity blasts is not something that is very common. I can name very few drummers who can actually pull it off such as Flo Mounier, Wayne Vella (Abysmal Torment R.I.P.), Tomáš Corn (Lykathea Aflame) for examples.
@pstuddn actually my wet dream came true: the signed with the mighty Relapse Records.
that is arguably the most ridiculous blasting i've ever heard
You were talking about why there are so many deathcore bands, and that they're not in it for the music.
How does Dominator Fjelstrom measure up to this dude?
Both sick in different Era.
How are they going to find a replacement for that :(
how do you count blasts speeds? i know he is doing every hit at the same time (e does the cymbal, snare and bass all at the same time, if you dont trust me use the slow speed on windows media on any song) so i guess he is doing... around 150 (16ths) or something like that.. this guy RULES, i love sop, and i love his drumming, great skills
Oops, sorry dude. I was just reading down through the comments and realized you were talking about 'musicians' and people who actually actively played styles of music. I accidentally misinterpreted it as you saying that people just not INTERESTED in one music style in general tended to go for core, my bad.
what? what does he do now???
SIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!
310 on blast beats?! F**********ck
What is the sound at the beginning, lol?
@BTeeper yea i agree with you there, honestly idk how the fuck deathcore or hardcore was brought into this mix, because spawn of possession fucking kills.
he said he was tired of doing blast beats, which is understandable, haha
I don't know what he's doing as of late though
Yeah, and if this is the only page which he gets 'pwned' on. :D
what a great performance. SoP is one of all time favorite bands. In response to any drummers that might "touch" this one: Flo Mounier from crytopsy or i agree Necro. has some good drummers but they never stay long. Its a shame Rondum left the band...
What is this guy doing now that he doesnt jam w/ SoP? He shouldnt have a hard time finding another band. Their new drummer is also a monster. I hope their being super productive with this new album.
He quit playing the drums. I believe he focuses most of his time on guitar these days.
vocals
For this song it's like that. Down blasts if you will. It's around 270-280 I believe...But yeah, your right. Then again, his ride could just be very dense (except his bell, christ.)
Yeah, Marco is great in a different style. Dennis is fuc.ing great. A big loss for the metal scene that he quit. Lots of respect from here
Yeah, which is 8th notes @ 310 bpm
Who the hell is that?
What a goddamn cyborg.
I have to agree, the blasting sounds wierd :p
Uh you said he is faster than George implying he can't play this fast.
here is a interview of him from last year (2021). Cheers: ruclips.net/video/gPhzcaJvRyc/видео.html
hence it's all metalheads alike's job to spread the word of metal.
Yeahh he is faster than George Kollias, get over it ;)
Joey Jordison doesn't even deserve a mention on anything relating to this guy.
lokks like so easy for him
@BTeeper so then just watch the video and don't read the comments.
FUUUUCK!
uh... I don't know. I don't care about deathcore bands, and neither do I care who makes more money. I just pointed out that even though deathcore is unpopular with the DM community (which includes me as well), it's slowly building it's own community.
What makes you think george couldn't play this? I guarantee there are plenty of drummers that can play at this tempo...just because they don't play that fast in the band they are in or show it off doesn't mean they can't do it...
They do it for the fan base, and hence, money, not just money period, without fans, you make no money.
But every single kid that hasn't listened and stayed true to one musical style his/her entire life seems to go for core, because of the looks i would assume.
I just shit in my pants a little bit
292 bpm
I think only Marco Minneman from Necrophagist can touch him. Spawn is the best
I heard he got into rock climbing? Don't quote me on that.
I think i just shit my pants a little bit
If i could blast like him I doubt I'd do anything else haha. Untill I got bored of it...which he obviously did haha.
it's not difficult to pwn joey. :P
