We did some testing with the 18" Tesla Model 3 wheels to see if an aftermarket wheel could be as good as the OEM cover in terms of efficiency. The Aroham wheel cover looks amazing but for this test we wanted to see what the functionality was.

I ordered the performance looking wheel caps after BTG posted a video. I took my first long trip with them and my efficiency sucked major balls when compared to stock aero v2 wheels. For long trips I may swap out.

What do you have on when not on road trips? Do you just show rims with Aeros around town? What’s your setup?

These are wheel covers, not hub caps. Hub caps are the small pieces that cover the hubs. That said, they look pretty good. I actually don't mind my stock wheel covers.
As someone that removed the hubcap to grease the wheel bearings, I agree. But it seems to be what most people call them so, whatever. They do look good

I'm baffled that no one mentioned the "Tesla Hub" with the ever-so familiar jingle! When I heard the jingle, I almost instinctively looked around and wanted to make sure the door was locked!!! Very subtle but very funny!!!

In Arizona, there is a part on the new 202 South that has a reeeeaaally bad phantom brake when on autopilot. Nearly comes to like a complete stop. Happens everytime on my route to work lol

Getting technical, if the pattern is not opposite from left to right, they are not the most efficient. Pattern must be directional. Not cut into wind but allow it to flow over them.
So glad I finally saw someone mentioning this. I wanted to get my hands on these covers, but when I found out you get 4 of the same covers instead of 2x2 for each side of the car, I became sceptic. Maybe the influence of the shape is negligible, but also aesthetically I would prefer a 2x2 set.
@@pieter4996 Agreed. Problem is 99 percent of the brands don't want to go through the trouble of having directional wheel cover production lines. I found a few directionals on Amazon but they're 7 spoke, not 14 spoke Uberturbines.
Yes; on one side they will suck air out from the brakes, and on the other side they will fan air onto the brakes. Both unnessesary! Because the brakes on an electric vehicle is never used so hard they need special cooling. And the fan-action just adds drag, and gives lower efficiency... Looking good, working bad.

I remember I bought a set of "car and driver" brand wheel cover for $20 at Target for my old Corolla but these Aroham at $397 I thought I read it wrong...
Not for $400. There are plenty of similar hub caps in the $200 price range. Are these worth an extra $200? Thx
phantom breaking is 90% shadows on the road
Did you notice any rattle or noises coming from these? I had something similar from rimetrix and they made a lot of noise until I realized I forgot to add the foam padding
They included the foam padding as well but we didn't put that on and haven't noticed any sound
I had these exact ones from the same company. Drove with them for about 1,000 miles. I took them off by chance to wash but noticed scratches on the spokes where the wheel covers latches on. The scratches were in the same spots on all four of my wheels.
There’s a cushion tape that is supposed to go along the inside edge of the cover but not where it latches. I’ve put on and taken off the stock aero covers several times and they never created scratches. Not sure if you had issues, maybe it’s just mine.
Now I’m getting my wheels repaired. I’ve contacted the company but said they will not cover the shipping cost back to China and the representative recommended that I sell them 🙄

@@mlee1308 Base on my own experiences, I cannot recommend them. They look good. But the guy who had to repair my rims said his previous customers also had the same issues. He had to repair each and every spokes on all 4 wheels. He said these covers will scratch your spokes where it latches and will rub through the foam into the outer rims’ edges. As far as efficiency, that would probably depend on individual driving behaviors but I personally didn’t noticed a big differences in range or efficiency. Hope that helps.

I don't know which ones you are specifically referring to but these look incredible in person. Better than others I have tested because they have a slightly larger diameter. If you do but them just make sure to use the foam padding to protect your wheel behind them from scratching

It's not 1.05 percent more efficient. 1.05 percent is nothing. It's a factor of 1.05 more efficient OR just 5 percent more efficient.

@@Satchel1992 don’t buy the 100 dollar ones, they fly off your wheel while driving. Tried two sets of them, don’t buy them. RPM Tesla sells sets for 200 that work well

The 19 inch caps for the y doesn’t look as good as the 18 inch for the model 3! Not understanding why the difference in design.
Wheel Covers are ghetto, I feel like I’m watching advert for pep boys. Looks so much better with the rims visible. If I’m sacrificing range I’m going to have rims not plastic hub caps… and that’s free. The new caps are barely more efficient than no covers too.
