The void switch is a 2 stage Noisegate. The SM7 is not really made for boosting an already distorted amp, its more of a " rectifier in a Box" pedal. Sounds good in the effects loop of an amp. ✌🏼
This is a distortion pedal not an overdrive. You don't crank the level on a distortion pedal! Level should be set at unity gain or slightly higher for leads. You are overloading the front of your amp and not hearing the pedal. You are using it wrong!
Check out the FZ7 if you like a gated fuzz, it sounds killer with the Damage switch on 100%

First pedal I bought, think I was 12 at the time (26 now), it was only recently when I found a way to get it to sound to my liking. Really appreciate the noise gate feature, that's a big one when pairing up with a delay pedal. But yeah, getting a useable tone out of the gate is impossible, this one is a bit demanding. Still love it, more than ever.
These pedals where made to the specs (mmmmm, Speck!) of the nu-metal bands of the day (especially the members of Korn I’m guessing, since they where the ones demonstrating these pedals) so I’m wondering: where they made to sound good with solid state amps? Because I didn’t play guitar back then so I might be hallucinating, but I remember guitarists talking about how solid state amps where they way to go. Whether those solid states amps where run clean or dirty would probably make a big difference and I’m guessing they where running them clean
Had this! I believe the Void was a noise gate. The Fuzz from this series was nuts. The footswitches won’t withstand regular use. I went through two Tubescreamers from this series.
I am sorry if you have answered this before, but what exactly are you running through that spectrum plugin? what kind of sound? Something from another plugin?
Switching between sharp and smooth doesn't seem to have any effect because the riff is being played in low-pitched notes. The switch is designed to affect high-pitched notes. And even there, we are not actually affecting the notes themselves. The E string on the 24th fret is around 2.6khz, and the switch is scooping frequencies between 8khz and 10khz, so it is working on the harmonics themselves, which is a more subtle change in character. On the other hand, the void switch is just a noise gate. Ibanez could have done a better job on the labeling, lol.

Every video I watch about the smash box nobody has any idea what the void is lol. Was this the first distortion box to have a built in noise gate?
Might very well be the case!
The Ibanez Tuke King TK999HT has an integrated noise gate don't know which one was the first one on the market.

Agree. The stupidity in this demo is extremely high.
Hey dome have you thought of the dod fx58 vs the hm2
no, but all the old dod pedals are really hard to come by!

I still have and use the regular Distortionpedal of this series I bought back in like 2004, I use it as a clean boost like a tubescreamer kinda.

Would you say the fuzz is worth investing in? I've heard it's really bad
Fuzz is crap, sold mine.

yeah, it's pink noise from a noise generator
This is a smart way to test a pedal. Gonna start doing this
"I can't hear it". Yes, noise gate 😅
1 : 0 for you 🤣

Jerome could improve this. A one knob smashbox/saw
Void is a noise gate
Wow it started blossoming into hm2 madness at around 6:00
EQ doesn't show clipping
Wrong title? Still says Donner Giant Metal.
fixed. Sorry about that 😅
This pedal should be used only if you have a time machine to get back to the year 2000 and you start a nu-metal band
Me *back and forward this video ... Where's Donner?🤔
clever me... I should use proper titles :D
Great pedal. Same with the fuzz same series , another amasing pedal. Cheap? Well... My ones have morevthan 20 years.. not a problem
Im confused
Well... not anymore!
SOD off Baldrick!
