- PCem needs these rom files(hardware configuration file) to work, download the rom files with the folder structure, directly overwrite the items in "roms" folder of your PCem installation. Good luck!

@@NostalgiaWindows1 Turns out I didn't have your options because I didn't have V17 roms which are a scattered mess to find HOWEVER I get an error saying 3DFX Tools.MSI cannot be found.
@@NostalgiaWindows1 I finally got it to f'king work but I had to use the top version of drivers rather then the one you suggested!

@@NostalgiaWindows1 I downvoted cause your video is a FLAT LIE and I know people like you love to bash those who have trouble since not all of us have collage degrees like you do. :P Nor have rich parents that pay for everything. In other words 3DFXTools.msi error message when trying to install. I hope your brain can compute the error message.
@@kylehill3643 sorry to hear that it didn't work for you. It did work for me, or the video would not exist. I was using Windows 98 SE and the driver downloaded form the link in the description version 1.07.00. You can check other channel's related videos and try again. Good luck!
@@NostalgiaWindows1 I didn't have the roms for it and now I do however I have a new problem. I get an error message of 3dfx Tools.MSI cannot be found at the end of installation and cannot continue. I used your version too! Can you compute that?

Hago exactamente lo mismo, instalo el driver, pero cuando Windows se reinicia, no pasa nada no "reconstruye la base de datos de drivers" ni nada. Si entro a los dispositivos me sigue apareciendo una driver VGA genérico

Nice. Now add try playing a game, ie Unreal, and keep your CPU speed at a constant 100%. If it drops below 100% your sound will be all messed up. Unless you have absolute god-tier host hardware it will most likely happen..

When i try to open the setup file it says 3dfx tools msi not found.
You need to extract the zip file first, then run the "isetup.exe" in the unzipped folder.
@@NostalgiaWindows1 Yeah that's what i did, whichever executable i run from ther goes up with the same error.
Edit: it worked after i renamed the msi, without the _
What is Voodoo3 is used for?
Voodoo3 Graphics Card, "It was announced at COMDEX '98 and arrived on store shelves in early 1999", high end graphics card at the time.
Hey you also have the laggy sound on win98....why is that ? I cant figure it out and it seems games run so slow :/
Is it related to the power of the processor I have on my comp?
Audio issue seems happen only when boot up for me …. game slow should not be CPU issue... you can try other voodoo card and driver...
You have set too high of a processor in PCem that exceeds the ability of your host machine's CPU to emulate. You will notice that even in this youtube video, at the top of the PCem window, the emulation frequently drops below 100%, such as when booting or installing programs. This is why there is audio lag. If you attempt to run CPU intensive games, or even GPU intensive games that require more CPU power, the slow down will be worst. The solution is to select a slower processor in PCem so that you can achieve 100% most, if not all of the time. I'm on a Ryzen 5 5600x myself, and I sometimes have to drop it down to a Pentium II 233mhz to run 1999 era games. On my old Ryzen 2600, the most I can squeeze out of it is maybe a Pentium 1 200mhz.
@@andyyiu3987 yes you are right this emulator is a huge monster that require lots of resources.
I installed it on a very old pc I dont even remember the specs.
But even if I select pentium 166 with 32 GB RAM it still slow and laggy .
I will have to check it on my newer computer (i9 9900k , rtx2070 and 32 gb)
@@lironk1 I suspect with an i9 9900k, you should be emulate a cpu a little faster than my setup. Maybe a Pentium II 266 or even 300. Its all a matter of how much load you put on your emulation though. If its a demanding game or software, and PCem drops below 100, you just need to dial it down a notch.

But Pentium 2 should be enough for the games I try to play
Most of them only need pentium 1.
Maybe the most demanding games I'll play would be Jane's sims

Could be normal... PCem is slower than other virtual machines since it directly talk to legacy "hardware"...
myber pcem v18 may fix my issues
You need at least a 4ghz
I've got an i7700k and the highest config it can run is a Pentium 2 at 400mhz, 1gb ram and vodoo 2 sli

Can you give link of what Sound device, what Boot disk and CD ROM Windos 98 SE version you are using?
Sound driver was installed by default, no extra driver is needed. You can refer to ruclips.net/video/vfdP2Jg4A8w/видео.html&ab_channel=NostalgiaWindows for Windows98SE setup (before Voodoo3 installation).
