Very informative video. Sephiroth has always been a really cool villain throughout FF7 it’ll be interesting to see how things play out during rebirth and other future projects overtime.
This was such a fantastic, unique, and wonderful breakdown/video! Just like the Rebirth demo, it added to my overall viewpoint/considerations on the continuously enigmatic and mysterious Sephiroth 🙂

I think that it all went downhill at the moment Zack went to talk to him in the basement. Specially in remake it is implied at that moment Jenova made actual mental contact with Sephiroth.
Interesting Life stream has an opposite I forget the name of it - Hollow Stream - Jenova's taint of the life stream and to feed off it. I forget now how Chaos fits into the picture its been like 20 years - soon together we will walk the first steps on the unknown journey. and I am sure you will gain even more unanswered questions. Enjoy the journey and make new memories with the party & all of the fans of FF7 as we will share all these new moments together as one singularity. Peace.
I personally played ffvii much later than its original release, in 2010 I believe. I pretty much picked it at random from the playstation store, not knowing that it was actually the most popular game in the series. In spite of the aged graphics, the game just kept getting more interesting as it progressed and quickly became one of my favorites, with Sephiroth being my favorite character. The remake games have been a lot of fun so far and with Sephiroth being playable in Rebirth, I couldn't be happier. I'm also glad the creators state Sephiroth as the main threat, as I always found it downgrading to call him the victim and Hojo the real villain. Hojo was responsible for his creation, sure, but calling him the true villain is essentially like saying Emperor Gestahl was the real villain of Ff6 since he was also responsible for Kefka. The difference in power between the 2 characters should show who the real threat is. Hojo in the end is just a human who did a lot of bad things, but Sephiroth pretty much threatened the entire planet, even after his "deaths."
Great point about Hojo versus Sephiroth! Hojo is truly a POS for doing what he did, but Sephiroth had free will at the end of the day and chose to do what he did on such a massive scale as well. In the end, he's no better than Hojo.
@tanagreeknose7376 Exactly! Sephiroth may have been misinformed about his true origins back in Nibelheim, but he still slaughtered everyone in the village out of hatred. He even tells us in the new game, "Let it engulf you (rage), consume you, so that you may burn your world to the ground, as I did." It's not like Hojo manipulated him into doing any of that. Plus, I'm pretty sure he learned the truth about Jenova when he fell into the Lifestream and gained the knowledge of the Ancients. In rebirth he clearly knows and he also knows in Advent Children.
Sephiroth is a confused man who gets convinced that an Eldritch horror is his mother, has his mind warped by her, kills a bunch of people. Gets immediately killed by cloud and then is possessed by the mind of said Eldritch being. he has no agency, is a husk that Jenova wears and is merely just another victim of Hojo and Jenova. We never fight Sephiroth ever, only Jenova wearing a Sephiroth suit.

SE is going for multiple endings, and there is a non zero chance they will have the OG timeline as a DLC AFTER the main alternate Universe and some side timelines are laid out. Hence Zack.
FFVII has always been much deeper than people think. Somone said in a video that Sephiroth died, and Jenova is just using a image of Sephiroth to mess with Cloud, even comparing Sephiroth to the Anti christ, and Aerith is suppose to be like Jesus. A interesting take, Sephirot in Greek meaning is seen as a inverted Jesus metaphor, although Aeris in greek is a goddess of discord is meant to be seen in the game as a Jesus like figure.
Man, I still don't get why people think Sephiroth is somehow the one in control of all these events. It's never directly stipulated in the OG. Maybe Square will reinforce (or invent lol) this theory, but that's all it is, a theory. And imo isn't anywhere close to overshadowing the far more likely fact that the entire thing is all about Jenova! We fight her every time we encounter Sephiroth, even right at the Northern Crater. He speaks and sounds very different to how he is at Nifleheim. There's no reason to think Jenova simply overtook his dead body (and the lifestream) to administer her will. There's also the possibility that both he and Jenova have become one, and I'm sure Square will "try" to champion this idea, excecution and having it all make any sense aside lol
We think Sephiroth is in control because Square Enix directly stated that he is in control. He has a strong will and uses Jenova's powers and the knowledge gained from the lifestream to his advantage. That said, I do wish to know more about Jenova if they decide to delve further into it..
I dont think it’s a multiverse or else it wouldn’t be a “remake.” I thin Sephiroth is outside of time altogether and it held there by his hatred being focused on Clouds existence. In fact Sephiroth never tries to hurt cloud when he “remakes,” events he only offers him power or to join him. I think Cloud is going to have to kill him self like Harry Potter had to walk into the forest and die for his friends. If Cloud dies there is nothing keeping Sephiroth immoral and he will pass on before he can get his body back. I think his immortal existence is what caused the future calamity Red 13 mentions. This is why the plot ghosts want to stop them from “remaking” events. They are manifestation of the planet and if they keep things the same all humans may die for some reason but the planet itself survives which is a W to them. Allowing events to be changed to save humans and Earth is a dice roll that risks ending everything.
This is too deep for me. But symbolically, he's lucifer. Aerith is virgin mary, Zack is Jesus. Cloud is more like a saint, disciple or prophet since he is Zack's legacy. Zack coming back to life might be the second coming. The planet (god) performing a miracle. They did something similar in Final Fantasy 10, Tidus being a dream brought to life to save the world from "Sin". Dying in the end, another Christian themed story. Somehow I doubt the multiple dimensions and sky giant you fought at the end of remake will be as clever. They probably just watched Avengers Endgame, and the premise is someone wants to change the future by altering the past. They've not come up with something clever for a loooong time. They seem to be ripping off Witcher 3 and marvel movies. In the end someone might snap a finger or maybe squeeze a holy materia.
There is something to be said about this analogy as well. Given the inspiration from the Jewish Kabbalah, I wouldn't doubt some influence from there. I'm hoping SE has a good twist in store for us.

Multiple dimensions, this would be similar to time travel but it would play out at the same time. 3. Just like how Zarnakand, Tidus and Jecht exists as a dream. An entirely different world is dreamt into existance by the life stream in FF7. This existance is either the one we're playing through or it's the one's Zack's in. This would make Zack's function very similar to Tidus's function in Final Fantasy 10. The two first options would be bad writing. The third option would be a badly executed Final Fantasy 10. Even if the giant ghost spawning sky weapon was sent by the planet to prevent deaths from happening by means of thousands of ghosts. It's an ugly decision. About as ugly as the drag show in wall market and every girl fighting over Cloud's attention. Aesthetically it clashes with what good moments the game has. That the game plays like witcher 3 and devil may cry. More based on your reflexes instead of strategic thinking, as well as the music needing to transition seamlessly into the battle theme at any time. Preventing the music from being melodically rich. The massive walking distances to fit enough battles into the overworld scenes as well as every location acting as a quest hub like in a mmo game. Performing boring, pointless chores, "follow the quest arrow monkey brain." Because of this the odds are against this being a great trilogy. They haven't really made anything clever for a long time. Final Fantasy 10, how long ago was that. 23 years? But maybe they pick the third alternative, manage to make performing pointless chores for random people satisfying as well as avoid future drag shows and giant ghost monsters appearing out of nowhere. But I'm skeptical. Definitely not losing my shit over the amount of fan service that's sprinkled throughout all footage we've seen so far from rebirth. The action poses and witty one liners only makes you think of marvel movies. If I were to make a bet, it'd be that someone at some point is going to attempt to snap the white materia and everything will be set right. It'll be a glorious display of particle effects, dorks across the world will start bawling.
U know nothing as the arbiters of fate r the 3 from afvent children, it's future seth that knows he will always lose so now he's going back and breaking cloud to the point he remains a puppet for seth for good and seth would win, what seth is not considering tho is he changed time and now Zack is alive and will ether replace cloud or help cloud find his own place in the world without being zacks legacy, this is a story that brings 2 loved characters fighting the same battle but none ever gets to be happy so now they can be, Zack with aerith and cloud with Tifa as he was always distant from her feeling he owned Zack and aerith

I'm just praying the entire Remake and first half of Rebirth is all a fever dream of Cloud in the wheelchair, hence all the inconsistencies.
