Does yours make a crunchy or clacky sound when you take off?mine seems to sound like the transmission is slipping until its up to speed then smooth sounding.any input would be awesome thanks guys love the channel
Know Nothing Rc Thanks for the support! No I have not experienced that issue before but I will pin this on the comments hopefully someone has and can speak on it.
mine runs like a champ. Might need to get some grease in your UDR? I am thinking of doing that just to help keep the dust and water out of my rig. I hope you get it fixed! :P
Know Nothing Rc it sounds like it might be a diff pinion failure there might be a tooth that broke off and cousing it to click and crunch and skip a tooth under load
When I bought this truck I placed in my 2 2s lipo Floureon 7.4V 40c 6200 mAh batteries would last as a pair maybe 15 minutes. I ran 2 different sets with same results. However; the truck behaved like it was low on power and getting the red light. I would test them and they'd still be sitting around 3.9 per cell. Which is they still have plenty to go. I ended up buying 2 large 4s Reaction 5000 mAh 14.8V batteries. 1 at a time and they'd last 4x's longer, sometimes less and sometimes more depending on how I run it. Absolutely love the truck and just puzzled about my battery issue. I bought the Fox and I absolutely love it. Good video and just showing how good this truck really is, makes me feel just that much better about my new truck. I bought mine from Traxxas directly because Amazon wanted 739 for the UDR Fox and Traxxas had it for under 700 and they actually shipped it pretty quick to me. Very happy with new truck!
Traxxas has some amazing customer service. Relating to your servo. On my TRX4 My steering servo went out. I later opened up the servo and did a light soldering job on this fuse. Depending on how you look at it, Its in the middle length wise and closes to the ledge of the circuit board. Solder over the fuse or replace that fuse with a better one and the servo will be fine. I just soldered over lightly and my servo works great! That is the biggest problem with the Servo's failing. The fuse just isn't handling the power that it needs to and burns out pretty easy with many of these servo's. Traxxas was more then good to help me out with a grounding I had going in my truck and I feel bent over backwards to make the problems I been having right. Go Traxxas! :P
I know it’s been a while since this video debuted but I’m interested in buying one and wondered what your long term thoughts are on this UDR is now. Love your videos. Lots of info packed into your videos. Thank you sir!!
@Johnny Davis Thank you for watching and much appreciated👍👍 I got to say first, it all depends on your use. I have decided to keep this more of a scale truck than a straight on basher. I drive it on 4S instead of 6S. I limit how I take it off the ramps. I drive it in more of a scale like manner on loose surfaces. I truly do enjoy it in this fashion. For bashing I like the Super Baja Rey, the Baja Rey and the Mojave more. All three trucks handle the abuse better. Now if you are looking to do more scale and technical driving then I would pick up the UDR but for a basher I feel there are better options. Hope that helps.
I have this truck and I would totally buy it again, in fact I probably will get my brother one. The only thing is, just like any other RC company, they have their weak links.
Great review once again Brother 😂!!! That's good they did the price drop. 799$ is out of range I think for many RC enthusiast's. There's always a tipping point that will potentially turn people away. 🍻👌👌😨😨😨😎💪👊👊
Rich Duperbash Thank you brother 👍! I feel Traxxas just seems to push the envelope with their pricing but I think they got it right with the drop. 👊👊👍👍
Vincent Smet Thanks for watching! Actually yes I did. I'm glad you noticed. I did not mention it on this video but did on the first run. I used a white paint Sharpie. Ordered from Amazon. You will have to reapply after runs but it stands out.
I must thank your Channel for the great information I watched many videos about this and this was the one that finally convinced me to purchase this truck. It's now sitting in my living room. Iv chosen to go with the 6 cell and it's plenty powerful and fast. Anybody even wanting to run 8 cell is just nuts... The weight of the truck will be no mercy on your legs. So learn to jump fast. drive hard but respect the machine and it WILL impress the best of pros. TRAXXAS OWES YOU.
Hiya, I know it's been a while since your review, but I was just curious as to what you used to paint the tires on your truck? I've heard oil based sharpies work great but just wanted to know how you got yours so bright?
I getting ready to purchase the Traxxas Udr and I was wondering what batteries you were running. Also does it matter if they are a soft case or hardcase lipo. Great video. Your input would much be appreciated. Thanks
@Frank Montoya Thanks for watching👍👍 I'm using two Power Hobby 3S 5200 lipos. Soft pack. I also changed the connection to xt90 on the truck. Got tired of the adapter hanging out of the back. If you are going to use the Traxxas connector on the truck and no adapter, your battery selection is going to be limited. Hope this helps.
Seems like the udr and the baja rey are similar with regards to 4 link rear live axle, under chassis battery tray, body panels/cage. Just 1/10 vs 1/6 scale. Oh and the 1/6 traction rolls in grass more and has more scale detail
@@ReadySetRC oh yes. I don't plan on skate parks or runs across a pond. Iv watched days of video on this truck. And after all the different truck iv gone tough. This is the one I need for my purposes. I enjoyed your video. And it was the last before I made my order. Now the wait game. Lol. Any recommendations on weak point or area to address before hitting the tracks? Keep up the great video. Thanks brother.
@@youtubeuserimgonzo7090 🤣😂Sounds like you know the UDR experience on RUclips well. Durability for me was the lower links. They never broke on me but they did get bent up nicely. I went with RPM ones. I did not want to add aluminum on this. I rather the flex just want them not to deform. I kept the electronics stock. Servo is probably the weak point in electronics. It is a little slow but I don't mind it. I think it helps limit the rollovers. I would re-enforce the body around the mounting holes for the shell. Tends to be a little weak in those areas. Only other thing if you plan on running batteries outside of Traxxas, adapters get funky with the battery layout. Your going to enjoy this truck. There is simply nothing else out there like this unless you plan on building it yourself.
@@ReadySetRC yes sir. I took all your advice. Staying plastic but did grab trail arms I don't PLAN to bend anything. But we know what's going to happen. Eventually. I do thank you for your information. Iv never been happier with a purchase. The detail is incredible almost sad to put it in the dirt. Body mount hole do seem thin so I'm look for a solutions. @joseph 01 you have no idea😎 1.Remove the wheels. 2.Blow it off with an air compressor. 3.Give it a quick rinse. 3.Spray it with Green Works. 4.Rinse it down. 5.Hit it with air again. 6.Wipe it down with a microfiber cloth. 6. Spray it down with Deep Creep(avoid all electronics) 7.Let it sit for a day maybe two. 8.Wipe it down with the microfiber. 9. Reassemble. For wheels 1.Knock off all extra dirt. 2.Rinse them down 3.Spray them with Green Works. 4.Let them sit for a few hours. 5.Rinse them off. 6. Let them air dry. 7. Mount back on truck. That's in-between bashes. For maintenance, whoa😁
I realize that there is no way to compare this UDR to the 1/10th Baja Rey. BUT, I am curious if you could comment on just the “fun factor” of each. I know you love your Baja Rey. Is this UDR giving you $250 more fun? I am honestly just curious. Have no preconceived bias. Basically, I was going to buy either this UDR or the 1/10th Baja Rey. All I care about in an RC is fun, durability and $ in that order. So, in your opinion, how would you rate the fun factor of these two??
That's a good one😁! I'm very bias on the Baja Rey. I've been very public that it is my favorite RC. "Fun Factor" hummm. Putting a price tag on fun, never really looked at it from that aspect. To me there is not much I have as much fun as the Baja Rey. I would say if this is your first RC with a solid rear axle with an independent front suspension Baja rey is the one I would go with. Durability, I have not had a break yet with the UDR but the Baja Rey has taken more abuse and I replaced the upper links. Truly a very hard question to answer with my preconceived views of the Baja Rey. What does not help I just swapped out the servo and will be posting a video of the first run this Thursday 😁. For now I'm still saying the Baja Rey for fun factor. Let me see after a year of owning the UDR, like the Baja Rey and let's see. I'll make a effort to make a video after a year of owning the UDR to discuss the fun factor. Great question👍!
Thank you! I know I put you in a tough spot with that question. Really, I guess I was looking to see if your “loyalty” to the Baja Rey was any less after trying the UDR, but it wasn’t! Honestly, I was leaning towards the Baja Rey anyway. Thanks for your reply. Your channel is probably my favorite RC channel because I feel like you are reviewing and driving and commenting for you average, ordinary, everyday RC guy. I go to Willis Hobbies as well. That place is Awesome
I was just contemplating this exact question.. and actally commented on another video for a baja rey. He said buy a udr lol. I like the price of the baja rey it's a good truck for the price for sure and I have a rock rey that I thought about building into a baja but I could se the rock rey and throw some cash on top and just get a udr. My question was the same as yours is the 250 worth the difference or would the 250 be better spent on baja rey upgrades. Lol I'm still on the fence about it damn it..
jklivin2007 I would not compare the UDR and the SBR. Just two totally different trucks gear to two totally different drivers. The UDR is geared more to scale realism. It can bash but I would not bash it as hard as the SBR. The SBR is a bashers truck. Not scale at all in it's current form but it can take a beating and keep coming. I really enjoy both trucks for what they offer. Hope that helps.

Hi, can you suggest any OBA set that would fit the UDR? (i.e Will the ESS dual + fit?)

yenny527 The UDR is closer to 1/7 scale. Totally agree, UDR tends to traction roll more on high friction than the baja rey and the SBR.

No the price is unreasonable it's just a toy, a person can easily find more prudent things to spend money on.
@INFO MUTT The thing is none of us here are prudent😊 We all just big kids.
It is a DESERT racer, after all. Meaning it runs on lose dirt and sand. Otherwise it would be called a grass racer.
