just waiting over here for a 4k of Eyes Wide Shut so i can upgrade my DVD!
I'm fed up with these expensive steelbooks. I want standard editions with slipcovers. I'm thinking of Body Double which is my favorite De Palma and I'd have to pay $50 to get it in a steelbook I don't give a shit about. Steelbook collectors will end up killing the physical media market.
I know especially Willow on 4K and Deadpool Wolverine sooo expensive and alien Romulus
People need to shop better. I got Willow for 37 bucks.. I got Deadpool Wolverine for 38 pay attention to what’s going on. You’re missing good buys

Those steelbooks are right at the cusp for me. So I did preorder the Kill Bill steelbooks since the art on the slips is terrible. There’s just no uniformity to them and I like the cases of movies in a series to look like they belong together. I expect new release steels to be $30-$40 and slips to be $25-$35.
The slipcover version of the Tarantino trio being released in Jan 2025 reminds me so much of the 20th century fox bluray releases of about 10-15 years ago
The ones that come to mind are the re-release of the die hard movies

People hate this design despite how awesome they are. But walmart re-releasing the shining 4k steelbook where the artwork is literally just an ax, and that's fine apparently?
I like how thr blood is overwhelming as it was in the movie (even needing to be censored). The color design is great, first one matching Kiddo. I like how it's not photo realistic. I like the slipcover, adds protection. I love the interior and disc artwork.
The standard is just boring. It doesn't pop like how the movie does.
so true - that Shining one! also the Panic Room and Se7en steelbooks look so lame - putting a collage of photos on and calling it artwork? Sixth Sense steelbook was also dull as hell...
im having some issues now with LG, my AN was received damaged and the LG support, its not really supporting.
Have you noticed that recent Lionsgate movies have not gotten stand alone dvd releases? The only way to get dvds of them is to buy the blu-ray release that includes the dvd.
I basically dont buy into 4K upscales - rarely worth the money to upgrade from a good bluray.
FYI if you buy all 3 it's free shipping and they don't charge tax. Still 120 but better than the 140 you were thinking

Just preordered the Jackie Brown Steelbook. I personally really like the artwork and packaging although I agree the price is to high for you get, I totally understand what others are saying in the chat but that’s what makes this channel so great. You should definitely rewatch Die Hard this year, Ken! I didn't grow up watching it but after watching it a few times I definitely understand the love for it. I think you'll have a great time with it!

Pre ordered both kill bill’s. The price could be about $10 cheaper but I love kill bill it’s one of my favorite Tarantino movies after pulp fiction. So I was going to get these no matter what ever since last year when they said they would be on 4k. And I personally love the art work on both I feel like it could look better in person than it does online
About LG halting 4k blu-ray player production.. When I think of 4k players I think Panasonic, Sony and Samsung. I didn’t even know LG made a player. They probably figured they can’t make a better player than the top guys. The news article is a nothing burger

I LOVE Jackie brown, it's one of my favorite Tarantino film's behind pulp fiction so that 4k is a day one purchase for me. As for kill bill Vol 1...if its not the unrated version with the crazy 88's scene in color then i will hold onto my uncut Japanese Blu ray. Having the film uncut the way the director intended is more important then a slight upgrade in PQ.
For me the price on those is worth it for movies I love like the kill bills. But for blind boys, ya I won’t be buying 40$ steels, no chance

The steelbooks are really mediocre. Especially for those absurd prices.
The slips look like AI artwork, but at least they’re priced somewhat reasonably.

Did you see the video by John Campea on LG pulling out, omg Ken, this guy knows shit all he does a 8 min video that is all over the place and he did little research, plus he does not own a player that plays physical media, And he thinks hes qualified to give us his opinion, he kbows sfa.
