- Charles Withers was a contestant on the popular Food Network show “Chopped.” His wife Ashley says the man of her dreams disappeared from their Massachusetts home without so much as a goodbye. Ashley seemed to have an inkling of what he might be up to and so she set out to find him. She turned to a popular Facebook site “Are we dating the same guy?” for help. As Inside Edition’s Les Trent reports, it turns out social media can help solve mysteries.

Oh it definitely happens. My grandfather’s first dad ghosted his family when he was little. Fortunately, he ended up having a wonderful stepfather who made the family whole again.

She actually got lucky that he was in the same country still. My dad did this and left to a third world country. My mom had to go through a divorce with someone who wasn’t even locatable. Like divorcing a ghost.
i say there is no smoke without fire. My uncle disappeared to . at first he needed to clear his head for a day or two and then decided he was just done. A bit of detective work we found out mother in law was all up in his business . sisters too . and he had 2 daughters. wife was nagging . she was just a pest.

My mother did the same with her first husband. He was marine who went AWOL before getting his assignment and just... Disappeared. She never saw him again. She was sick with cancer and only 19. Luckily when you're AWOL the government is also mad at you, so as I understand her divorce was fast, but she said it was weird, divorcing a missing person. She and my dad were already aquatinted and he was also going through a divorce to someone who dipped to another state while he was at work, and took a lot of his heirloom tools and such, so at least she had someone to support her through it.

But I wonder what led the wife to believe that her husband decided to straight up abandon the family because he didn’t want to be a husband and father. If my husband went missing, I’d think he was either hurt or kidnapped and I’d file a missing person report. Unless he left some indicators that told her that he was fed up and decided to leave.
It could be as simple as he took the car and his belongings. Police won’t let you file a missing person report on an adult who showed small signs like those that they wanted to just leave
If you watched the video, it explained that he didn’t want to continue being a dad and husband, the lifestyle wasn’t for him so it entails he did show indications before ghosting her… not sure how you miss that in a 2 minute clip…
