WHEN I Was In Calif. Years Ago Taking A Locksmith Class I Was At A Flea Market On A Sat. Afternoon There Was A Vender Lady Cutting Keys For Customers And Their Were Also Customers There That Had Keys Cut At Another Time And Complaining That The key Or Keys She Cut For Them Didn't Work. i Said To Her I'm A locksmith Can I Help You. I Checked The Adjustments They Were Way Off. I Adjusted The Machine For Her. She Was So Happy. She Said I Was Her Hero.
Don't use 3 in 1 oil on bearings. Never had any luck with it, always gums up the bearings and dries out. Best and cheapest thing I've found for motors and bearings is regular ATF automatic transmission fluid. Haven't had shafts in motors gum up since I started using it and it doesn't dry up like 3 in 1 does. 7:45 Thanks. :)
Works best on those cheap motors with the bronze bushings. Really good for things like box fans and small motors. I've even use it on computer case fans.
Great video. I got my blitz and switchblitz for $800 because they needed to be tuned. Took an hour but they both cut like new. I also appreciate you sharing what you'd charge. Never thought of offering to service key machines for apartments.
I’ve been lugging an ilco 045 around my truck for a few years and bouncing around in the back means constant re-calibrating; I know you don’t duplicate keys from your van, Jason, but if you did, would you go ahead with the 008 (I think they’re made by Silca now) or would you go with something else?
AXXESS Locks sorry I missed this q. I actually carried a 008 with me for a while just for cases like “unlocking a knob & making a Key from it from S&D Keys to unlock a troublesome deadbolt” and such but not for multiple copying. Ones & twos, it’s a great lightweight machine to use. If you normally copy more (and more often) it might be best to stick with the bigger machine :) Thanks again and sorry about missing the comment!
SE Lock and Key no worries my friend! I went from cutting on-site to carrying pre-cuts mainly after watching your videos, I find that I’m wasting less by not having to re-calibrate so often.
AXXESS Locks our roads (as you’ve seen) don’t play nice with machines either 😂😂 I keep a spot in the van open to set my 1200 or a duplicator if I know I’m gonna need a machine otherwise, yeah...more than a few hours driving and it’s all out of wack :(
@@pmlarocque I have 3 different type of machines in my work vehicle. After 2 years. I haven’t had to recalibrate any of them. But I put rubber padding between all the feet
The keys are not set the same in the holder thingy. The one on the right is slightly raised and is actually slightly at an angle with the end of the key blade higher than the base.... You could easily see this using a micrometer I think..... Or am I simply an idiot and, as usual, don't know what is going on? If what I noted is true, doesn't this affect what is going on? .
@@selock /Hmmm.... ok. But I was looking at the distance between the lines of the blade and the edges of the clamp. Does that still suffer from the forced perspective illusion? I guess it must because if the key worked, its set correctly..... Thanks for the prompt reply and explaining it to me :-) .
Shannon McStormy the jaws on that machine do have a bit of wiggle so I think it’s just clamped slightly off center (I scanned the video to see what you mean) that really has no effect on the key, it is actually sitting level but because of how the movable part has the wiggle it just clamps down giving it the slightly off appearance :)
@@selock /Ah..... ok. Cool, thanks for explaining that. I'm new to Lock Sport and my eventual plan is to be able to cut new keys for challenge locks, so I've been reviewing older key machines that might be found used.
So they have a key machine but dont know how to perform adjustments on it, I mean I know it brings income in to you but damn Im sure it would be in the manual [ oh right folk dont read manuals these days].Yes I agree your way to cheap charge them at least a half hour labour especially considering its taking work away from you. Nice video again Jason thanks for sharing and say hi to the good lady :D
Very cool nice job the charge was very cheep should have been 85 or 115 .we're else would the go or they were going to buy another .lol thinks for the video .tell them I will buy if they want too sell it .lolol.thanks for the great videos my friend. 😎

CO Jones good tip!

Why didn't you change the motor drive belt while you had the machine? That belt was cracked up and ready to break.

That o-ring belt has a ton of cracks in it and is not long for this world. I foresee another call in your future :-).
Thx for the Video. Looks very close to my Micro Precision cutter. I don't suppose you would have a manual for the micro?
Don't forget to put your company sticker on it with the "last service date". They'll see it every time they cut a key.
That is a great idea.
The blade being as good and sharp as it is... likely they changed the blade and it didn't just cut the same. Lol
Great video,
Thanks for sharing
we had a customer that was cutting level 1 primus keys and splitting the blanks in half! a new cutter fixed that up :)

Shannon McStormy that would be called a forced perspective illusion due to the angle of the camera :)

Jason; Very good and knowledgeable video- I loved it and what you charged. Thanks

Do many places do their own keys ?
Mat Steele not too many, this particular one didn’t even have anyone that knew how to use the machine :) (probably why it was off)

Why didn't you change the drive belt? It is Not Good! Don't call the customer yet!
