Hi MrMacRight. I know you could use your break, but yet I will try to ask. Since you have the access to the copy, I think a video about performance on MacOS would really help us here. The release is coming very shortly on our heads and any information about its performance can help the possible buyers to decide. Like myself on an M3 Pro chip. I hope you will read this, and consider my thoughts. I do understand you are just a human like the rest of us, but the power you hold can bring us priceless information. Thank you for your work so far!
If anyone is interested, I’m playing the game right now on M2 Max. 21:9 ratio, 3360x1440. Everything on max/on. MetalFX temporal on ultra. Never seen it go under 60FPS. Usually stays around 70+. The FPS range is between 60 and 90. I barely finished the prologue, I’m doing the very first delivery. I play on external display, 4k144 with VRR and HDR on and it looks good. Difficult to compare with a PS5 on a big TV, also I’m not the guy you want to trust judging visual details. 😂 Looking forward to a comprehensive review video. Cheers, mate. Edit: typo
Nothing impressive about this at all when you consider the bigger picture. These are only 3~4 token AAA games that are already old, when there are handhelds like the Switch and handheld PCs now that can run ALL AAA games. Android devices can run AAA console games like Switch with emulation and those are fanless as well. Apple is the reason why iPhones/iPads will NEVER be good gaming devices, let alone be a device to play AAA games. Simply because Apple has wall gardened and gatekept iOS/iPadOS. Think about. IF Apple's Wall garden and monopoly App store was broken up and consumer was given freedom to buy, download and install from elsewhere this would give MASSIVE incentive for AAA developers to make their game playable on iPhones/iPads because they will not have to go through Apple's App store and deal with Apple's monetizing bull$#!t. I think the most impressive is that it’s a universal app/game for three different machines, iPhone, iPad and MacBook. This will only get better, I really hope Apple focuses more on games in the future.
Saw the iPhone video for this. It seems the same with the frame rate drops at low 20’s whether M1 iPads or iPhone 15 pro. Only the M2 iPads are better and obviously Macs.
It really quite incredible that this was ported to IPad OS. The differences we are seeing to MacBook performance will be a result of being fan less. The true power of the M2 in an iPad should do much more if it was actively cooled. I honestly think apple should make a games console at this point. Or make the Apple TV super powerful. Also jump starting the ARM gaming revolution
You can still try. Delete all the other Apps you rarely use (You can re-install them some time later! ) and leave around 60G on your iPad. I did this and play RE4 remake on my 64G iPad Air m1 successfully.

wow. It's not as good as it was when I played it on my PS4 Pro but this is still incredible. Imagine 3-5 years from now. Apple gaming will surely be significantly more amazing

The problem with apple is not performance, but heating issues, which the device then powers down brightness and performance to try and reduce it. Only time this doesn’t happen is if I put a fan blowing directly on the iPad to keep it cool. Even worse on phones
I'm a big fan of this game. I enjoyed 80 hours on ps5 and 50 hours on PC. If I have a low spec PC or not have a PS5, I'd probably buy an iPad version. The iPad seems to be struggling a little, but it seems to run relatively well. Enjoyed the video!
Your M1 iPad Air performs better because it has lower brightness compared to iPad Pro when you turn the brightness to MAX. I don't think it needs 600nit to play on iPad
@@GreatistheWorld The LCD/miniLED screen on iPads consumes much energy. For example, iPad Pro 12.9 consumes ~ 8 watts even if at the brightness of 300nits(1000nits needs 20 watts). The device gets hotter at a higher brightness, which is easier to get thermal throttling. iPad Pro 12.9 gets throttling at ~14 watts. If the screen takes more power, the chip gets less power. Thus it affects the performance of gaming.
Written January 31, 2024 Hmm 54GBs for Death Stranding Director’s Cut is definitely the most storage any Apple console game has ever been currently apart from the 32GBs and 16GBs of the RE Apple console games. I think now with these massive leaps in in-game storage, we’ll finally see big storage CGI/open world games such as the Batman Arkham series or FF 13 series on Apple devices soon if Death Stranding and R34R are anything to go off of as Re8 to me didn’t have that many CGI cutscenes on the shorter RE game length side I would have said “Great video Stewie” but I think you know that by now…I honestly don’t know
Great video! The takeaway is, passive cooling is holding back all their devices when it comes to gaming. So then Apple should just make a gaming console when they’re on the M4 or M5 with an actively cooled SoC and the best performing and with the versions with the best fidelity would be found there. Save of course the high end Mac versions of the games. Apple has laid the ground work and a foundation for it all to happen. When you want to continue your game on the go in lower fidelity you can use your iPhone with a controller. Your save will be there. Or they could go the Switch route, make an actively cooled hybrid, but then the argument of having a portable version on iPhone would be lesser. What if they just made the cooling solutions in iPads and iPhones better going forward? They have quite a few options to really get into gaming seriously. Does anyone actually know what their gaming division is doing, are they just support for studios and Metal API teams?
13:44 hey what's going on it actually can run pretty well on M1 Mac, both great resolution and quality, but pretty poor on M1 iPad? Are they doing this just to save battery?😅

Man, I wouldn’t recommend buying iPad for games, this game can be played with much better graphics on PS4 which is like $100 on eBay. iPads are cool (I’m typing this on my 12.9 iPad Pro) but they are not really for gaming. For starters you will need to buy a controller and make sure you keep your tablet on charge for gameplay sessions. Moreover, there were only three AAA games since last year - and they are from a couple developers who are known for bringing their games to M-series MacBooks (namely this game and Resident Evil series). Will there even be more? Look at gaming on MacBooks, one game announced in two years. No signs of enthusiasm from video game community paints a similar picture.
I bought this game today. I tried to play this game on a MacBook m1 max and iPad pro m2 16gb with a PS4 joystick. On a MacBook the game runs very well and looks decent, I liked it. The game looks bad on the iPad. I deleted it from the iPad and didn’t even bother testing it on the iPhone, I think it will be even worse.
it's really sad to see how poorly implemented the touch controls are on these ports. just look at how xbox game pass games have custom UIs which sometimes even allow you to use direct touch input to scroll / move the camera and change depending on what the game is doing
FSR is meh and XeSS is pretty heavy on my 2017 Nvidia GTX 1070 powered laptop. MetalFX likely does better leveraged Apple's own products... one would hope. Even so the ability to use different AA methods or change resolutions and even cap FPS at 20 or 25 would be welcome... obviously, Apple wouldn't allow that either. They wouldn't want their devices to look weak... even though it's abundantly clear.
Apple is WHY iPhone/iPads will NEVER EVER, EVER be gaming devices. iOS/iPadOS is wall gardened and gatekept by a MONOPOLY App store. When the EU and other countries around the world break up Apple's monopoly, anti-consumer, anti-competitive App store and wall garden THEN you will see gaming really open up on iPhones/iPads Full game stores like. - Steam - GoG - Epic etc... will come out on iPhones/iPads. This WILL give incentive for developers to make their AAA games also playable on the iPhone/iPad because they are no longer gatekept by Apple and monetized by Apple and consumers will have the freedom to buy, download and install from elsewhere. Let's think about it. The iPad at least is able to play much older AAA games. So why isn't there a massive influx of those games on the iPad? Developers would make massive amount of bank having their older games also playable on a huge install base of iPhones/iPads. Consumers will also be able to "sideload" what THEY want on THEIR iPhones/iPads NOT what Apple approves of. Apple is what's holding back gaming on iPhones/iPads because they monetized everything that goes through it and restricts consumers choices as a result.
Nothing impressive about this This game is super optimized and runs at 100+ fps on my 10 year old pc on mixed settings (many options set to ultra) It runs much better on even steam deck than this Considering steamdeck costs less than 1/10th of these ipads, this is more or less just horrible performance and more evidence that Apple devices are just very low quality devices with poor performance and no futureproofing
Just to inform You THIS, That Aaa game is working on Android pretty awesome, Like If you can play PC games Like God of war 2018 Pc version , At 30 Fps/40 fps Then It's Aaa game and You'll be wonder to know it This games run at very old Chip Like Snapdragon 870 Now It's Snapdragon 8G4 era but Mostly pc games 70/80 Gb Android can handle easily just imagine in 2030 We all Android users gonna play 120 Gb games at 30/20Fps, And In 2028 Maybe Android can run ps3 games at 60 fps

Looking forward to the M3 iPad Pro‘s, hope they release a „higher Resolution“ mode for M3 iPad Pro‘s, currently it looks really muddy 🫤
Nice paintings
Have the ps3 n xbox bloom effect and im in love ❤😅
Waiting for No Man's Sky on iPad
is it playable on magic keyboard and trackpad? and if so do you still need to look at those onscreen touch icons?
Definitely not recommending any 3rd or 1st person adventure game with the trackpad
They should trademark "Sexy Showers" 😂
The alien isolation game is the only triple A game that’s actually enjoyable on iPad
I wonder why apple strongy recommends (forces) devs to use metal fx when AMDs/ Intels open source tech is just better.
Pass, next generation maybe
Im gonna test on my iMac m1 8/256
😁😁😁
I’ll never understand when people say ‘it doesn’t look good’…it looks FANTASTIC for an iPad Pro…cmon people, what were you expecting?
"for an iPad Pro"
That's not the compliment you think it is.
Keep reaching. 🤣🤣🤣
It better be the enhanced edition
I'd smack a peltier cooler on the iPads back over the SoC
no HDR is a travesty
I would have been more hyped if I didn't buy a rog ally. Still nice to see though
The iPad settings of iPad are best Who the dayone
they really gonna brag about it in the march event
honestly seeing this and the video on iPhone, i think this game might just be badly optimized.
but the framerate and resolution... i will keep playing this with my 180$ rx6600 in 144fps )))))))
Imagine if apple products took advantage of expandable memory.. (Not counting icloud (i paid) or whatever)
Expandable storage.
NOT memory.
Memory = RAM.
This game is boring to me but I did download it for my iPad to show support
Apple is WHY iPhone/iPads will NEVER EVER, EVER be gaming devices.
iOS/iPadOS is wall gardened and gatekept by a MONOPOLY App store.
When the EU and other countries around the world break up Apple's monopoly, anti-consumer, anti-competitive App store and wall garden THEN you will see gaming really open up on iPhones/iPads
Full game stores like.
- Steam
- GoG
- Epic
etc...
will come out on iPhones/iPads.
BWAHAHAHAHA 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why is there no steam on android then, or gig etc. There isn’t a market lol.
i'm so disappointed you didnt include m2 max performance, was watching the whole video just to realise there wouldnt be m2 max benchmark
It is an iPad performance video, and there are no iPads with M2 Max.
@@MathieuRohaly then why is there a macbook pro 13' in the video ?
@@yanmarinich3373the m1 pro is using the base m1 chipset. It is used as a comparison to the macbook air m1 using no fan and the ipad with no fan.
nice
Nothing impressive about this
This game is super optimized and runs at 100+ fps on my 10 year old pc on mixed settings (many options set to ultra)
It runs much better on even steam deck than this
Considering steamdeck costs less than 1/10th of these ipads, this is more or less just horrible performance and more evidence that Apple devices are just very low quality devices with poor performance and no futureproofing
k
Eh, it is just this port though, the m1 iPad runs resident evil village better than the steam deck according to digital foundry.
Just to inform You THIS,
That Aaa game is working on Android pretty awesome, Like If you can play PC games Like God of war 2018 Pc version , At 30 Fps/40 fps Then It's Aaa game and You'll be wonder to know it This games run at very old Chip Like Snapdragon 870
Now It's Snapdragon 8G4 era but
Mostly pc games 70/80 Gb Android can handle easily just imagine in 2030 We all Android users gonna play 120 Gb games at 30/20Fps, And In 2028 Maybe Android can run ps3 games at 60 fps
Then you woke up
Learn how to use a period when you write.
@@PSYCHOV3N0Mguy is just yapping
4 year old game runs like garbage on current Mac hardware. Quelle surprise
yea it's kinda sad, the m1 can't even get the performance level in DS like the 1050 ti which is it's biggest GPU comparison
Wut it is just locked to 30fps and hits it well it is stil running better than the deck at a higher resolution. But the rog ally is a bit better.
@@sxifster2144it won't when it has no cooling and uses 15 watts of total power, put 2 and 2 together. And the m1 isn't current it was released 3 years ago.
you do know that the m1 is 3 years old & ipads don’t have any fans right? the fact that this runs at all is surprising
@@Sashashka I couldn’t give a shit.
It's cool but very ugly on ipad
Pubg looks better than this garbage
30fps, low quality graphics, but same full price 😮 these should be 20 bucks, plus it eats up your devices storage.
Buy a Macbook air M2 or wait for mba M3 chip 🙃🙂
@@sam95bjk3 I play it on my Mac Pro 100fps @4k 😉🤘
@@MacSoundSolutions i will test it on my iphone 15 pro 😃
this is a complete failure
The game is shit and pretentious
Disappointed by m1 iPad performance…………
It is a AAA title on a fanless tablet
@@RiccardoMerloVeganhaving no fans is probably the main reason when the m1 macbook pro runs this way better, like it runs it better than the steam deck.
