- part of the microphones performance at what the heck 2019 in anacortes washington
phil on guitar
kyle field and lee baggett (little wings) on guitar
karl blau on bass
nicholas krgovich on keyboard
This performance basically made the microphones in 2020
The context and content of this performance within Phil's life is... really incredible. I feel like this could have just as easily been the first song on his follow up to NOW ONLY had he not already written it and released it like 20 years earlier. There is significance in his returning to the Microphones I think, and we'll see where that leads, but thanks for capturing this and sharing it!
Solid premonition, Dustin. It finally comes back.
I also had no idea WTHF was still happening
@@fhdream it seemed to be a kind of anniversary/revival show based on the lineup that it had, hard to say if it would have happened again with covid and all that though
That's me with the awful posture wearing the Bauhaus t-shirt right in front of you. I had the urge to revisit this little moment of my life tonight for some reason and I'm glad to see some of it was preserved here. The show was like slipping into a personal photo album for a few hours and everyone in attendance was captivated alongside us.
Tragically, my car shit the bed on the way back to Portland the day after the fest and I had to spend the night in a Chehalis strip mall parking lot. That pretty much ensured that I would never forget the trip though, at least.
hey man, i could see you took pictures under the perfomance, do you perhaps have any photos you maybe would share?
He would make a killing if he did a Glow Pt. 2 tour. No shame in my opinion. He gets money, a lot of people get to see something they really want to see. No one loses.
He just doesn't seem like a very sentimental person when it comes to his music though, so it's probably never going to happen.
This video proves otherwise I feel
Not sure about the sentimental part. He might be with all the self-reference. But that may just be his personal mythology developing and recalling past, eh, tenants. Anyway, I agree. I'd see him play any material though.
don’t know about all this but I’m fucking pumped for the new microphones album
Yeah he’s definitely sentimental. the Microphones in 2020 proves this for sure
considering all the references and callbacks in the microphones in 2020 I'd say it could be possible?
I know he ends going into the Sequel version, but I don’t recognize that beginning part. I love it.
Matt Fastnaught he’s singing a bit of K.D. Lang’s “Constant Craving.”
I’d love to see the rest of this if you have it. I’m gonna see Phil in London in August and am so excited!!!
i saw him too at eartH, beautiful show
Nice profile pic:))))
seeing the microphones in march!
a good video thank you cole i wished so badly i couldve been there
the impact this song has had on the my life since i was 13 (22 now for ref) is so profound that i don’t even know where to begin
How did I miss this
it's cool seeing this after the new album just came out
Great to see that Kyle and Karl are still around and they still get along
Worried that Phil and Kyle started hating each other. Glad to see they didn't.
one last video, then I go to sleep, I promise
Love this...so much.
can someone tell him to get a strap for his guitar
Dear God i want to hand him mine through the screen of my phone
straps are for bitches
I did and he said no. People on Anacortes don't use them.
Mind your own fucking business
people don’t use straps on classical acoustics
Thanks for posting this!!
other guitarist is lee baggett! i don't know the keyboardist either though
thanks so much for this footage, the show was amazing but i couldn't take my eyes off the band long enough to get much video. based on your angle you must have been right next to me
yeah, i pretty much just had my phone in my lap recording, so im glad that it turned out haha
The keyboardist is Nicholas Krgovich.
@@codypeterson153 Love his work, cool he's playing w/ phil
@@KevinBogle Me too. His last two albums are amazing, as well as his previous stuff all the way back to P:ano. He played with Phil on some stuff previously as well. Here is one example: pwelverumandsun.bandcamp.com/track/to-the-ground-feat-nicholas-krgovich
Cole Wilder this is rad, thank you! everyone, let’s utilize voice memo more. set that phone on a table, screen off, and let it ride. it’s too easy to bootleg these days. let’s do it!
what a bloody lineup!
Nice! Do you have more footage?
wow this is amazing
this save me in 2020
hope for real full tour :
Do you remember what the rest of the setlist was like?
25 minute song that was mostly about when phil was recording as the microphones, among other things. played I Cut My Hands Off, some others i didnt really recognize, and a new song.
@@ItsColeHere What was the new song like?
Cole Wilder do you think that long could’ve been the one that got announced on the new album consisting of one long song?
@@ItsColeHere wonder if the 25min song is microphones in 2020
@@superjchamma i don't remember any details about what he sang about in that long song but i do remember it being relevant to The Microphones as an idea/time in his life, so i'd say it's pretty likely
what is the song in the start?
kd lang - constant craving
What is the song he plays before this? I would love to know pls.
did you find out?
@thatoneveryfunnychannel2482 @@h00die77 constant craving by kd lang. thank me later
How does he play without a strap like that
I think he traps the body between his right elbow and his torso, I assume it would probably take a bit of practice, plus he's using a super light guitar.
anyone know the chords he's playing?
Em b C I think
Em, Bm, Cmaj (for The Glow Pt.2)
