Salvadoran soul food, simple and delicious. Yours look very good. Tonight, I'm filling them with left over roast chicken put through the grinder with chilis and cilantro, I use a little coconut oil with the water in the masa. Homegrown tomatoes for the pico de gallo. I can hardly wait. I've been making these for 40 years, I was taught by the ladies on my favorite food truck in LA.
THIS is the video I been looking for. I finally made great Pupusa's bit couldn't see how you guys were molding it to keep the food In. So happy I found it.
One thing that is important though you have to fry a bit of pork and you have to make sure you season it with all kinds of like things garlic onion and why not and then you it in a food processor and then you mix it with the cheese. There's nothing like pupusas de chicharron.
I think you need to let people know this is NOT regular flour it's MASA most American people won't know to buy that kind of flour. Also you should mix the mozzarella cheese with a different type of cheese since A lot of people don't have access to Salvadorian cheese they can use feta mixed with mozzarella to create a similar Salvadorian cheese taste. Also you can use chicken instead of pork. You can also add beans. Or just cheese but mixed. - Salvadorian Girl
I think you need to read the article associated with the video using the link, you would see we did say those things - you can use almost anything as a filling, use a blend of cheeses, we mention Maseca brand product.
Joanna Poro Quick question! Do you put the bean mixed into the cheese and meat? like how is this done😭 I’m an Italian girl cooking for my Ecuadorian boyfriend and idk what I’m doing but he loves papusas so i wanna learn how to make these right so bad
Omg u make this look so simple! I luv pupusas haven't had some since I moved from Long island they are so delicious 😍 I'm going to make this today! Ojala me quede asi de Rico!🙏❤️
Fell in love with the delicious taste of maseca, black beans and cheese when they added these to the frozen foods isle at the grocery store and so I had to buy the ingredients to make these a staple in my diet...inexpensive, healthy and irresistible!
I haven't been 100% successful in forming the pupusa yet, but I will keep trying. I think your video will help me more than all others. Other videos or online recipes say to make "golf ball sized" balls and then add 1-2 tablespoons of the filling; they are just too small and you can't wrap around the filling. I've never been served teeny pupusas to begin with, so I don't understand why any recipe or tutorial would recommend just tiny balls of the masa mixture. But now I think my practice will eventually turn into perfection.
I've never made something like this andbi loved it. I made a bean and cheese version, but they are incredible! I def have a long way to go before I can day I'm a pro, but great first try with your instructions! The folding technique was so relaxing and the water on hands trick saved me lol Thank you so much!
I had seen another how-to video that made it look so complicated. I agree with previous comment…no voice BUT simply allowed me to see that it may take some finesse but it is NOT that hard. Now I feel more confident trying to make pupusas! Mil gracias
The taste was good, but midway through the dough started to crack. I didn't realize until just reading through the comments that I should've oiled my hands. Will attempt this again tonight. Hopefully I'll have better results.
Daaaaamn, those look good!! 😍😍😍 .. I have some leftover chicken thighs - I think I’ll use those to make your lovely Pupusas. Thankyou for Sharing! 👍😬❤️
Very Nice. Think I may add a pinch of salt to the dough if I have prepare this in the future and maybe some eggs. It tasted bland when I tried it a while back. But thanks for the upload.
Thanks for sharing. A little too much dough in the papusas for me. I like the dough thin, and the filling thick!! Sometimes it requries folding from 4 ends its that stuffed!!
My masa always comes out so dry even though I put the enough amount of water to keep it moist. I've even added a little bit of oil. They don't come out how yours looks like nice and oily when it's cooking on the comal. Help 😩
Diana C when youre putting in the filling, make sure you have some water on your hands cause if theyre dry, your hands will take the moisture out of the masa and make it dry and possibly crack. also in the beginning when youre mixing the water and dry masa, add a little oil or water when it starts getting dry. dont be afraid to add a little oil or water after your mixing it in your hands
Mono Loco thank you. That's exactly what I do. I'm not sure if it's the masa. Or maybe I don't mix it well. Regardless after many many failed attempts it's always the same.
I finally found a lady that can make these and she was selling them 😭 she has to stop selling them for now and i need my fix lmaoo thank you just making a straight to the point video
Reptile 7 zucchini and cheese! shred zucchini. add a little salt. set for a few minutes. squeeze excess water to come out. add Monterey Jack Cheese. Delicious!
Jasmilly Casul yes anything that you put in side of the pupusa make sure it's cooked, cut cleaned or anything it needs before eating ,and you can used different things to fill them not just meat
Are they cracking while on the griddle or in your hands while you make them? Make sure you've got some oil on your hands when "folding" the pupusas, your hands can take out the moisture and may cause cracking in the dough. If they're cracking after you've made them but before you've cooked them, you may be using too much stuffing. If they're cracking on the griddle, you might turn the heat down a bit and make sure you've used enough oil throughout the recipe. They need moisture in order to look right, but even if they're cracked they might still be delicious if they don't get burned. Hope this helps!
I like the video...not a lot of talking...just info recipe...and how to in minimum time....thank you for being a professional...5 STARS!
Nina Flores yes

Much better than the other recipes I've found. The water to masa ratio is important in getting these to flatten out & cook properly.
Someone actually likes our food!! VIVA EL SALVADOR 🇸🇻

is the meat cooked before putting into the masa
Jasmilly Casul Yes -- see full directions in the link in the description.
Jasmilly Casul yes anything that you put in side of the pupusa make sure it's cooked, cut cleaned or anything it needs before eating ,and you can used different things to fill them not just meat
What other meat can you use?
Bonita Johnson any, people get creative with fillings. Chicken, beef, shrimp, beans, etc

Cool
I moved to another country where they don’t make this and now I have to learn how to
thanks
The masa keeps breaking after I put the filling in. :(
But what about the salsa
mine crack alot..lol. first timer here
Are they cracking while on the griddle or in your hands while you make them? They need moisture in order to look right, but even if they're cracked they might still be delicious if they don't get burned. Hope this helps!
Mine cracked too and ended up looking like gorditas 🥺😭
Prolly need more water.
Thx 😁
Sabrosas
