Guess what! So I am Mexican and I made pupusas for the first time on the weekend for my whole family....I had patience making it and kept watching your video for a step by step, so my family loves them and they asked me to make them the next day and while my mom was helping me in the kitchen she asked me “so where did you get the recipe from?” And I told her it’s a lady on RUclips with pink hair and she said “wait!” is she the one that her sister records her cooking? And I said yeah! And so we were watching your video together and I can’t believe my mom found you first than me and we didn’t even know!! But I love that you brought me and my mom together watching your cooking videos and making these BOMB pupusas 🤗 Love you guys!!! I hope you get to have your own cooking channel!!
Absolutely, we agree. Cooking channel please.
Just wanted to say how thankful I am that you 2 sisters are sharing all these fantastic recipes love watching you and love trying the recipes all of them I have tried my family loves them so thank you so much ❤
That's so cool Jennifer.
I've never made them, I'm Mexican-American but I've had them from friends and family or flea market food stalls
Guess what! I'm Mexican too, and I learned to stir milk and chocolate, a famous Mayan recipe! I had to watch a video, but don't worry, I'm Mexican!
I am from Guatemala and lived five years in El Salvador. We used to eat papusas on weekends bought them from a local lady. I am glad so many people from other countries also like them.
I am Puerto Rican and my kids are Salvadorian and Puerto Rican. I made these for them today and they loved them! Our Family lives in New York and we are in Georgia, so they don't get the Salvadorian food that their aunts make often. Thank You for showing this recipe step by step! Like you, I love to cook!
Omg I'm also Puerto Rican and Salvadorian and man, that is a great combination culture wise. I only know of 1 person who is both half puerto rican and salvadorian. Rare mix 😂
I plan on making some of these but putting puerto rican guacamole on top. I had a neighbor show me how to make puerto rican guacamole and now i will never eat store bought lol
I want her to be my friend! She seems like such a wonderful person. And just listening to her talk makes me smile.
Over 18 years ago, my best friend was a Salvadorian and I used to go to eat at his home, at least once or twice every month.
His mom and grandmother would make pupusa for us... and I was IN LOVE with it. It was my favourite dish!
Time fly, we both went to a different school for college and grow up separately. I miss it so much, the taste, the Salvadorian family diner, the ambiance and just the comfort I had with them.
Thank you a lot for your video, I tried your recipes at home, by myself... and got all those memories back. Tasted exactly as I remember.
I love making homemade Papusas! I was blessed to work in a Mexican restaurant. The owner is from central Mexico and his wife is from El Salvador! I have been cultured! I’ve work for them off and on since 2003! I grew up in Pasco Washington area where many farms are and have a lot of migrant workers. I was blessed to be in the middle of a melting pot of Hispanic culture! I am so excited to have found you channel and have actual recipes.
they look good
i’m half salvi my mom always makes them with the cheese oozing out so the cheese gets crispy it’s so good! and the cortido she makes it over night so it can get more flavor!
Madrigal...lovely name! I sang in a madrigal choir in high school. I bet you get that a lot. 😊
I love when the cheese gets crunchy. It's the best!
Omg! so true that smell of that cheese when it's oozing out and getting crispy I always tell my mom" that's the one I want the one with the burning cheese on the sides. "
YES!! Love the cheese ones.
@@sallypyle8792 uggh I love mine extra cheesy tell your mom to ship me sum
Omg I literally watched your video step by and step and bought every single ingredient, AND LET ME TELL YOU GIRL, my family loved itt!!! I suck at cooking, and watching you do this, inspired me to try so many more of your videos! Thank you for doing this!!!!!!!!!! You made everything so simple and understandable!!!!
I SECOND THAT‼️‼️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
YES!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
Omg I love you guys even more. My family is Salvadorian and my husbands family is Mexican and you guys have thought me how to make Mexican dishes for my man and kids. Seeing you make pupusas makes my heart so happy. You guys are amazing. 😘😘
Im a cook and I made this recipe to bring them to my Salvadoran coworkers because they have brought me pupusas in the past. You explained everything so well! I love learning different cuisines and they couldn’t believe I even made it, thank you so much for sharing this and all your other videos.
I'm puertorican. I'm going to make these. Can't wait.. Claudia we need to see you. Love how you guys laugh together.
For the curtido ( pickled cabbage salad) I use white distilled vinegar, pineapple juice, water , oregano , and salt/pepper.
Thank you!!!!
OMGGGGGGGGGG IM SALVADORIAN! I never thought you would make anything Salvadorian!!!! Omg I love you guys even more now, if I could love you more! OMG WHEN I SAW THE TITLE I WAS LIKE NOOOO WAYYYYY WTFFFFFF!!!!! Omg 😱 so damn cool!!!!!
This is like an extravagant Salvadorian version of a Venezuelan arepa. Looks delicious!!!! 🤤
My grandma. Grind the chicharrón in one of those old school things and adds onion bell pepper and tomatoe to the meat while griding. Giving it back some moisture. Ugh so gooood
Un pilón
I was waiting for her to do that too. I was surprised she didn't. My family on my biological mother's side is from San Salvador and everyone I know puts onion, bell pepper, and tomato in the fried pork. Tastes so good that way, not tough. Oh wells. Might be someone forgot that detail.
Muchas gracias desde El Salvador, por mostrar uno de nuestros platillos mas representativos y tradicionales, bendiciones y buen provecho!!!
I am addicted to pupusas. Used to have them almost everyday for lunch or after work snack. Now I have moved and don't know of any pupusarias in my new area. Now I can make my own! Thanks Steph! You guys rock! Caio!
I love this channel. It’s has the right balance of food education and entertainment with a comedic delivery. You two are going places with this channel.
try loroco con queso, it's my dad's (🇬🇹) favorite. If you don't know what's loroco, it's a flower lol but it's delicious to eat and important in both Salvadorian and Guatemalan cuisines. Also, you can also fry the chicharrónes with fried yuca served with watercress and delicious radishes with a lime or lemon to the side. The best ever!
I need your recipe please. Thank you.🤗
Love all your recipes. Thank you so much .
They have frozen loroco at the local Mexican market. I love the loroco pupusas from the pupuseria nearby.
@@puggirl415 thanks for the reminder ab where to get the loroco.
My mouth literally watered right now
thank you for this recipe; im half Salvadoran so I don't really know how to make pupusas, but I would really like to learn; and to everyone who's watching these videos during this quarantine time, don't stress we will get through this, Bendiciones para todos ustedes.
You are a natural teacher and cook. I’m so happy you’re practicing the purpose God gave you. Keep it up please.
I have to say I am so grateful for your videos! My mother wasn’t a huge cook and my boyfriend told me the other day that it was unfortunate I didn’t have any traditional family recipes (we have one or two but not dishes he likes) so I thought I would look up Pupusas to show him a traditional thing he hasn’t had before and your so in depth and I appreciate that so much! 🧡🧡🧡
Mmmm, that looks delicious.....this Puerto Rican likes pupusas 🤤.
Yo también 😋😋
My heart goes out to those that will try this recipe for the first time, cuz your life will never be the same !!!!
Originally from El Salvador, other Central American countries have their own versions of it and I celebrate & enjoy them equally as well !!
Gracias por darnos esta receta es una experiencia inolvidable gracias. "Viva El Salvador"
Hahah I love the editing!!! Not having to hear the blender, and hearing the calm music instead was so nice!
I’m an Island girl and I pupas!!! My sisters tried to make it and it was good but not as authentic as this recipe. Thank you to the family who shared their recipe!! But now we know to boil the vegetables first... okay got it!
Only for the salsa not the sauce for the filling
I just made my first ElSalvador tamales with my neighbor teaching me. I CAN’T WAIT to try these papusas. So excited. If I’m successful, I’m going to make them for my neighbor and surprise her with them 😊 thank you for sharing this with us!!! Especially the original recipe family - muchas gracias 🙏 (I hope I did that correctly) Than you, Thank you, Thank you 💕
My mother in law made these and they were one of my absolute favorites. She passed away and oh how I've missed these! Thanks so much for sharing your tutorial on making these.
My 4 young grandsons made pupusas today after watching this video. They came out excellent. They used pork left over from chili verde. Thank you for sharing.
I love how real you two are it's almost like we're all actually with you while your cooking on a regular night.❤️ Not to mention your personalities are 🔥
yah. And you’re kitchen is you’re own.
OMG I’m going to try this my husband is Mexican and I am American I love Latin food and trying new things tyfs hugs
I’m going to try this recipe tonight! Wish me luck ✌🏾😆
Erika Johnson how did it come out?
Valarie St.Pierre they came out really good. I needed to add a tiny bit more water to the maseca and add more filling. The curtido and salsa roja came out perfect!!!
I want to try making thing I've been craving some. Any tips and what kind of maseca do I use
Jess Bands you can use any brand of maseca for this recipe. I would recommend going to an international supermarket or an Aldi’s (popular in Maryland, New York and the Cali). Some Target stores even have maseca.
Good luck!
Steph, you really use all your senses when you cook. I mean, I've never heard anyone say that you can HEAR when your dough is ready to work with and form the pupusas. Wow, now I feel ready to try again after many failures. I didn't grow up working with or eating any type of dough-wrapped foods so I'm intrigued. Thank you for sharing your recipe and encouraging me. 💜
You are the bomb as a teacher, I'm getting my latino skills up!
Been cooking professionally since 1974 and have owned several restaurants. Pupusas May be my absolute favorite food ever. Love this recipe. Making tomorrow. Thank you!
Salvadorian Squad over here!!!!!!!!!! 💪👏💗

I try pupusa about 2 weeks ago and oh my God I fell in love with it it tastes so good🥰💯♥️
I am Puerto Rican and i love Pupusa! is so good!
Due to the current COVID 19 I only had a few items so I made them with beans and cheese! It was good!
Those are my fav!
Bani Logreira when I do them only my husband and I eat these. My youngest son gets just cheese and oldest beans. I also only ate beans and cheese growing up. Very delicious. I’m actually watching because mine keep tasting like gorditas😂
Beans and cheese 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋 super delicious!!!!!
Me too. I had 16lbs of Maseca from the food bank so I thought I'd try making pupusas to use it up. I made the refried beans with garlic powder and onions. We did a second type with mashed potatoes and cheese. Plus hot sauce. Delicious! Curtido next time.
Ehhhh.....beans and cheese are classics!!! Nowadays they do alllll sorts even shrimp and so on. Lorocos are also classics. Have a safe holiday y Feliz Navidad!!!!!
Ayyyy yay finally a Salvadorian dish 🇸🇻❤️
I am in a hostel in Costa Rica and met a girl from El Salvador. She was telling me about how wonderful these are and I just had to investigate how to make them. Thank you for the detailed instructions and to the family that shared their recipe.
Tried half of your recipes so far and my family and I loved them .the more I watch you the more I learn you’re the best 💪🏼❤️
I know this was 2yrs. ago as i watch step by step thay look sl delicious. I will be making them for my family 👍👌
Omg this is the meal my father introduced to us from his country El Salvador 🇸🇻 every one that knows this dish makes them different
Oh my gosh, I love you guy's video but I never knew you made pupusas!!! I'm half Salvadorean and it's not my mom's specialty (tamales are her thing) and she has always wanted me to try my "hand" at pupusas. She says those women just have magic in their hands. This is the simplest video I have seen. Thank you even though I'm late to the party!!!
I’m Mexican and I had to learn how to make pupusas since my hubby is Salvadoran 🤷🏻♀️ but let me tell you, they are so BOMB!! 😋
Thank you so much to the Salvadoran friends who gave the recipe.
Omg! So happy to see you making a Salvadorean dish! My hubby is from San Salvador and we make these about once every 2 weeks. My kids all love pupusas! Thank you for sharing your recipe!
I’m Hispanic and love to cook, I don’t speak a lick of Spanish, I’m not offended by it, but when I hear people speak it, I can tell when there happy and mad. I hope to make your recipes someday
My best friend in highschool, his mom used to make them to sell them and he would always sneak me some 🤣 theyre salvadorian. And omg those things were so delicious
I just adore you girl.. I'm a full blood Native American married to a Mexican. You have taught me so much. I thank you. Especially I love your vibe, laughters and that you speak English. I speak some Spanish but not enough to know what ingredients are. So thanks again girl... God Bless you and your sweet heart.
Oh man just realized I didn't add to boil the veggies for the salsa roja🤦🏻♀️.. sorry my mom doesnt know how to give recipes shes very old school lol
Brenda A Amiga I love the old school way 🙌🏽 Thanks to you and your family. Your recipe is 💯‼️Oh, yeah❤️
I'm so happy you liked them! Just sent the link to my family! They are excited as well!!🥰
Brenda A I hope to one day have your beautiful mother’s skills. ❤️
Oh hope I'm able to achieve her skills aswell! I strive to be able to get her sazon just near perfect so I can always have a part of her in my life. My son always tells me to learn to make pupusas ,but I'm so nervous lol
Thank you Brenda A for sharing this recipe with Steph so she can share with us! looks amazing and can’t wait to try it ❤️
WARNING- do not watch this while pregnant you will be sitting here craving these and I don't have masa left and too nauseuous to cook. SOMEONE BRING ME PUPUSAS DE FRIJOLES Y QUESO Waaaaah

OMG when you pushed down on the pupusa and I heard that sizzle my mouth started watering. And then when you bit into it I was so envious. Lol. Thanks for sharing cant wait to try this. My family will love them
So Awesome! Thank you so much for the video! I only learned about Pupusas a few weeks ago when I saw the name outside of a local restaurant. I usually make Tex-Mex and S.E. Asian recipes. So I really enjoy cooking food from all parts of the world. 😍👍👍
When she said “curtido” the English captions says “cookie dough” 😂😂😂 i cant lol
I love just listening to her talk and watch the preparation, now that i'm learning to understand more Spanish it's fun to not have the captions on. But i did catch the CC saying that too, had to explain to my grandmother why i laughed
😂😂😂😂😂😂ahhh the things we deal w as Latinos.
So funny for me the English captions said "potato" and that's when I decided to remove the captions. 😁
😆
Ha lol
I think these will be great to make to take to work. I am american and i will probably make some with bbq chicken and some ham n cheese oh the possibilities are endless
Omg, I’m going to make some for Christmas 2019. I told my Husband and he looked like he got nervous for me. 😂love this channel ! I try and learn different things but no one wants to share how. Thank you so much
18:30 yesssss I love that! When I cook a dish I always think about how the previous generations did it without all the frills, but it always brought families and communities together.
Its 11:50 pm. I have class (college) tomorrow, but here I am and I dont regret it❤
I tried making some tonight, because I haven’t had them in far too many years and omg this recipe was sooo good. Thank you for doing this. I’ve wanted to make them for years❤️
1st time viewer and I just subbed!!! It’s like hanging out with friends and learning new recipes. Well done 👍🏻.
Kevin Hullinger thats what I said they make it fun and as if you was in the kitchen with them
These are so good. The Salvadorian ladies at work make it all the time. Wish there were more places around me that served it.
Gracias a Brenda y a su mama por compartir esta receta.. se miran riquisimas
My husband is from El Salvador and when mama comes to visit my house is so happy. They own a restaurant over there so her papusas are uh-maze-zing!!! Amazing!! Im kind of a picky eater but she makes me the frijoles y queso ones. Everything she cooks is so delicious. Thank god my hubby got his cooking skills from mama. He’s an excellent cook. But he doesn’t know how to make these so thank u for sharing. I’m going to try and surprise him. 💜
You just don't know how much I love your channel!! You are such an inspiration to me! I'm moving out of my hometown for the first time in 47 years!!! Me, my husband and 2 boys are moving to a small town called Umitilla Florida. We are moving for my husbands job. We are from Jacksonville,Florida. We are familiar with the area we are moving to as it's only a little over 2 hours away. We have family here and visit often.. Anyway, I have made it my goal to make your recipes and do my best to document them somehow as proof that I made them! You Steph, and your sister Cloud.... your such an inspiration to me! I enjoy your stories, your connection to family. The traditions you have. It's just very inspiring. I've got my own family traditions too, but feel I need to add some new things in my life. It's a new journey for me and your such an inspiration to me. Keep making these you tube videos! Your amazing!!
I just made these for a couple of dear friends from el salvador. I never eaten one before so this was either blind faith in your recipe or craziness on my part for doing this! But guess what? They loved them and said the flavour was spot on! They were amazed I knew how to move them from hand to hand. Thank you! Your recipes are always so clear, and I've always had success. But this one took the cake!
"Make it comfortable for you home." 😍 It's not traditional, but I've made a tasty pupusa with chicken stock or broth in the masa instead of water, and a good shave of lime zest.
OoOohhhhhh...........🤩
This sounds delicious!
As a Sicilian guy these are one of my favorite foods in the world. Such an amazing blend of flavors and i love latin american oregano (very different from our Mediterranean type) Salvadoregni throw it down 🤤🤤✌🏽✌🏽❤️❤️
We got a Mexican food truck up the road and I get those at least 3 days out the week and 1 day on the weekend 😂🤣I can't help it ,they are delicious 😋

I officially feel horrible for paying about $1.50 each for these when i get them😟 they are so much work i should be paying way more 😳😅
I know someone who sells each one for $5 wtf😂😭😭 I feel finessed lmao
Ooh yeah that’s cheap!
in El Salvador they sell them for 50 cents lol

I get mine for 1.50 too 😂 I think in the alleys in dtLA they’re 2.00 , who tf is charging $5👀
Thanks for making this video!! Only learned about papusa few days ago. Neighbors made some and shared!!
They are from SALVADOR and living in Tennessee now. We get along great and share from our gardens. I mow their yard and they offer to help me out all the time! Papusa is over the top good!!!
Damnit you did it girl! I'm going to the store in the morning for reals!!! God bless you all you're the best!Gracias. De hecho, estoy aprendiendo a cocinar de nuevo. Glad you channel came up in my feed. I love how you shared someone else traditions with video and make it your families own.
I'm Puerto Rican and love pupusas made them for the first time......thank you!
I just had these for the first time the other day. From an amazing stand I found by my house. I am so excited to see that you made a video on here! I am so excited to make this, this weekend. Since my husband caught me watching the video he wont stop begging me to make it.
I looked this recipe up because our little town is opening a Salvadoran restaurant and will be seeing papas as. I know know I will not be making these, but I will sure be going to our new restaurant that opens soon. They look so good, but at 65 I have lost my love of cooking , as I have lost my old cooking partners that made it such fun. Thanks for the video, I am sure I will love our new restaurant.
This is great! Happy Heritage month! My family is from Poland and we make pierogi . I think every country has its own delicious stuffed dough pocket. Gracias!
I love your channel, makes me hungry every time I watch it 🇸🇻
I’m pretty good with play doh so I think I’ve got this. 😉
Oh, man!!! First I had to googleoogle Jamaica, and knew we weren't talking about the island, lol... and now I gotta googleoogle pupussa!!!🥰👍😄
Pupusas! I want to learn how to make these! Tip: when I make my corn tortillas I use 3 cups of maseca, 1/2 cup of flour, the water I eye-ball it, and 1 teaspoon of oil...it helps it to knead it beautifully! Thank you for this recipe!
Normal flour for pupusas?? Never!!!
Thank you very much. I have tried to explain to my american friends how to make pupusas....but they could not get it. Until you showed them how. So today we all are making pupusas.
Love that close shot of those pupusas cooking on that hot griddle! You can see those delicious brown spots on the pupusa and the fluffiness Stephanie is talking about. Brown & fluffy… what a delicious combination 🤤
I didn't realize all the work that goes into making them. Many years ago my youngest son dated a Salvadorian girl and one time she cooked pupusas for us. We're Mexican descendents and didn't know what they were. They were so delicious. Great job on your video! Gracias.
Omgosh, those look Absolutely delicious I fell in love with them my Grandma bought some from a lady at her church.
I love pupusas, I grew up with a Salvadorian family and I love all Salvadorian dishes. coming over to eat was such a highlight especially the thanksgiving turkey sandwhiches I wish I knew the dish but I can't remember wha'ts it called but it had cucumbers in it cilantro so good those who know, know.
Ok, I had one of these in El Paso when I was about to cross the border to Mexico. I thought it was a Mexican thing, but I been married for almost 10 yrs now and no one has made this. Those are good!
Justina Razo I’m from El Paso.. I dnt think you had a pupusa unless you’re went to a Salvadoran place. You probably had a Gordita.. those are mexican. Pupusas, arepas, and Gorditas all look similar but they all taste different and from different cultures.
@@veronicadiaz4579 I've had gorditas many times but this dish in El Paso was very different. We had time to look around for something to eat before the next plane and my husband picked the place. I don't speak much Spanish and he was talking to different people to find a place to eat I remember. Either way, this looks good! 👍
Single dad of 3. My 2 boys came from the navy to visit. And I couldn't find what to make so I was browsing around seeing the popusas And I try to come out. There were so amazed and they were so happy I think you for the recipe.🎉
You made them perfectly! The whole process was good! They looked delicious! It made my mouth water. I think is the best video of how to make pupusas I have seen 😊
I grew up in a predominantly Hispanic community and recently moved to NC and miss the food I could find at the tip of a hat in my home states, and I've been having ingredients shipped to me from my New Mexico and Colorado, thank you for showing me how to make things like this because Comidas sin chile no es comidas. Just came back from vacation from San Salvador and had pupusa.. Delicious😋
One of my favorite memories is going over to my friend Ingrid's house and eating her mom's BOMB pupusas. This one looks great too Steph! ❤
Had a friend who's mom would make this and offer me some when I was a teen. She is Salvadoran. I'm latino but have never made this so good luck to me lol 😆 hopefully it comes out as good as this
I’ve been craving pupusas and I have never tried them in my life! They look so delicious. I need to try them ASAP.
I live in central PA and we recently had a restaurant called El Rancho open. Besides Mexican food, they also serve central American food, including pupusas, which I had for the first time the other night. It was amazing! Two of them were more than enough to fill me up, and the flavors were wonderful, especially the chorizo. I am now going to watch this video and hopefully make this dish at home sometime. Thanks for sharing!
