I love that they didn't have a name for those monsters. They just call those who have turned based on their real name when they were still a normal human. There's no "mutated Rennick" or "crying Trots". None of that. Just straight up their real name. To me, that makes it even more touching and heartbreaking. Although Caz and the rest know that those who have turned aren't the same anymore, they still see those creatures as their old colleges. On top of that, it makes the og creature, the weird tendon thing, to be more mysterious. It doesn't have a name, we don't what exactly it was, how it exactly infected people, none of that. Just a scary monster that's in the way of the scared protagonist. Man, cosmic horror is just so cool and fascinating to me.

Seeing those tendrils was terrifying and with Adair if you don't make a sound it just howls and howls. Like a whale I honestly thought it was trying to find me with echo location which terrified me even more. And no one mentions but the environment is horrifying one of the victims was killed by the thing coming out of a shower Nosel. So, if you took a drink as a survivor, you'll get a mouth full of this shit.

I have this theory that the drill malfunction, since it happened while Raffs was down in the diving bell, it attracted something from way below in the very deep sea and it somehow got into the diving bell, infecting Raffs, hence to why he was shaking the bell and screaming so violently. After killing raffs (since we see his body at the end all ripped up in the bell), the thing escaped to the bottom of the Rig to stabilize itself and spread all throughout the rig. Rennick didn't know sh*t about it because his office is so high up and everyone was too scared to tell him, afraid of not being believed, that the mutation eventually spread all over the rig and slowly took it over.

Bruh surviving isn't always about fighting back, in some scenario especially when facing eldritch horror like this, the only thing you can do to survive is run and hide. The protagonist is just an electrician who works on an oil rig in the 60s or 70s, and you get to feel the horror of encountering some unknown monstrosity in the middle of the ocean while trying to survive.
In other survival horror video games where you have access to some weapons especially guns that can kill the monsters, it could take away the horror element way quicker and it will be more like an action game in the end.
