  • Moving to a new country and growing an online business is no easy task, especially at the same time!
    Here are 3 big lessons I've learned when I decided to move my business and life (fiancee + 3 year old son) to Valencia, Spain from Cape Town, South Africa in 2018.
    Moving and working remotely in a new environment can have many twists and turns, especially when there's a language barrier. But if you're doing it for personal and professional growth, and love facing a new challenge in a new place, then go for it!

    This is awesome. I just moved to Valencia from California to lower my cost of living while starting my online business. It is a big change, but an exciting one. Alex you have to give us an update. Hope you are doing well!

    Hi do u earn in the local currency or the currency back home , I’m just wondering as I plan on moving abroad and not sure what impact this will have , thanks

      For the first 3 years I earned my local South African currency as I was still running my business from Spain in South Africa, but then gradually shifted as I established new relationships in Spain, etc. I wish you luck in taking the plunge! Make sure you do it!

      @@AlexSearle Thanks! Would be nice to hear about things that didn't work out as expected too. What other foreigners that plan to set up business there should consider.

    Great video! My partner and I are considering moving to Valencia or Barcelona from the USA and are not sure which one to pick. We are both freelancers and like having a lot of things to do since we make our own schedule. We enjoy concerts, museums, night life. Do you think Valencia has the feel of a large city even though it is quite a bit smaller (population size) than Barcelona? Thanks!

      Thanks! Valencia is great but if you want a richer nightlife, more options on where to go, eat, etc, Barcelona probably has more to offer. But if you want to save on costs and possibly get better bang for your buck in terms of accommodation, Valencia would be a better choice. Also if you have kids or planning to start a family, Valencia is a far better option. Hope that helps!

    How difficult did you find it to actually set-up the business in Spain?

    • @AlexSearle
      @AlexSearle  5 лет назад +1

      Hi David. I brought my business with me, in a sense, so setting up was more about the admin of living so that I could simply fit in the time for work. In terms of registering a business, accountants, etc, I've not had much exposure to that (thankfully)
