Reasons this is a great scene: 1)- shows the terrible effects of growing up without a father, or growing up with an inadequate father; 2)- Penny is always ready to help her friends; 3)- The boys being scientists and yet freaking out over basic scientific facts.
If you want advice, you got to the person you know will explain & show you well. Gender is not important. For those that think a dad needs to show how the biological world works. Sod off & stip being a misogynist. Any gender can or can’t hunt shoot or fish. Just because you ha e a couple of parents doesn’t mean either of them know either. Parents don’t know everything which is why families should mix & spend time with each other. It takes a village to raise a child & all that. Kids raised with as many diverse families is so rich to their upbringing. Manners are everything, when you are raised by many, those too many questions get answered in many different ways by many different people with many different ways of looking at life. As long as those people believe in the rules of guidance, skills & love, those kids will have the richest environment they could ever wish for to take them to the adult stage.
I feel like out of the guys, Sheldon might be most like Penny in the "manly" aspects despite him being such a huge dork. I mean Sheldon can grill things, understand football, and a lot of other stereotypical rural things.Pretty basic but compared to the rest of the guys it's pretty impressive.

I like that in the show they don't just explain away the main characters lack of social skills as well there are a bunch of nerds. Leonard had a very distant relationship with both of his parents, Howard's father abandoned him and his mother and his mother became overbearing and Raj's relationship with his father was distant,( I haven't seen enough to show to know what his relationship with his mother it's like) all of these circumstances would absolutely affect somebody's social skills as an adult
when I lived in China we'd get a live fish from the supermarket and, you could pay a few yen to have them scale and gut it, but we usually did it ourselves because they never did a good job scaling, and they'd throw everything away, and sometimes you'd get eggs like they showed here. Small mouth bass eggs fried in butter are amazing.

I remember being young and shown by an uncle how to do all this and yep, my first reaction was like Howard's lol. It's something a person just eases into until they're like Penny sometimes xD Then years later we were on a family fishing trip in Alaska and I was watching a skillful fisherman doing all of this and it barely phased me anymore. This show is so good at bringing random memories to the forefront.
I didnt have a dad either, but I had a grandpa. Who taught me how to gut/clean/drain everything from fish to deer. He also taught me how to take a car apart and put it back together. Taught me wood working and metal working. Taught me basic electrical wiring and how to build houses and so on. Sadly I forgotten all of these things and can barely change a tire. Out of all of my 3 siblings only my sister not only remember these things but made a living off it. She design her own house and was lead builder. She was head pit crew mechanic some years back, before she open her own shop. Me and my brothers don't remember anything through.
This is you tube so you can look it up. By the way there's more to fising than this, there's the out doors, the action of the fishing (it's fun) it's relaxing (depends sometimes on the company your with) and cooking + eating what you worked for (like gardening) its awesome. "The little worms, they kinda get to me...I mean I hook them all up, then throw them in the water to drown". At the end of the afternoon, guess who cleaned and gutted the fish...me.
I used to think it was gross. My grandpa taught me to fish when I was a kid and he didn't want to hear me go "eeewww." when I got older I actually ripped worms in half, and was able to unhook the fish.

When I was 8 my oldest brother and one of his friends took my brother, 11, and I fishing. I caught 4. He caught none. I gutted, cleaned, and scaled them all myself, he watched and threw up. He was terrified of the fish's eyes, so I cut off their heads and put them on my fingers wiggling them about and chasing him, singing: "Fish heads, fish heads! Roly-poly fish heads." He cried like a pansy and my four other brothers and I laughed so hard it hurt. In hindsight it was mean, but who cares?
