I think TBBT really romanticises how creepy Howard was. He consistently came on to Penny, hid a webcam in a bear her gave her, makes inappropriate remarks all the time even though she’s clearly uncomfortable and he spied on models because he could. And the one time Penny called him out on it, they made her seem like the bad guy.

Old Howard treated women like shit. He had put a camera in Penny's teddy-bear that he gave to her to spy at her when she was emotionally vulnerable. At that point, he was a criminal who treated women horribly due to not knowing the right thing to do and lack of self-control. After Penny "brutally [breaking]" him down, he became way less of a perv after that. If Penny didn't do what she did, Howard would have been remaining a criminal as he wouldn't have been aware of the hurt he bought to people. Howard improved a lot by S12, from a creepy perv to a caring and devoted husband, I believe none of that would have happened if Penny didn't make Howard break down and reflect on his life decisions.
@@funsay2380 Howard have a very low self esteem , because of how girls treated him in his teenage years, he thinks that the only way he can get women is by being very persistent, he said to penny "look at me , what chance do I have if I don't try very hard" , the saddest part about these words is that penny confirmed them for him , she sent him into depression , people like Howard are not creepy because they are evil , they are not intentionally wants to make women uncomfortable, they are broken and desperate, no harm he ever done to penny could match the harm these words done .

Throughout the show's runtime up until he gets better, the punchline was that he was creepy, and how each and every one of his attempts at wooing failed miserably. Would you say Johnny Bravo's creepiness was romanticised? Yeah, Howard needed that wake-up call and I didn't really think Penny was the bad guy for finally exploding, after possibly YEARS of being harassed. Any normal person would have atleast _thought_ about doing it. I don't blame her, and that moment was him finally getting better, so it's not all for naught
How amazing that a regular girl learned to, if not fully like, at least learn about what used to be "nerd culture" and in the process helped these guys with their social lives to the point of becoming a family all of them.
