Nice project. Lot of steps to learn. Thanks for the tutorial.

On the silicone glue spreader, you can let the glue dry and it'll still peel off fairly easy. Been using a silicone "paint brush" for over 3 years now.

Yes! You can either clean it while its still wet, or let it dry, then just peel it off. Love that about them!

Daniel, you really stepped up and brought my Steam Punk suggestion to life. It looks great and I'm going to have to get a kit of my own.

Very cool Daniel...for the dying step...could you have dip-dyed the dark brown, then cemented the lining onto it?

Great idea to raise the level of Craftsmanship on this project. In a previous video I inquired about various stitching patterns. At 19:50 the panels being added have edges that are protected unlike the edges on a belt for example. Would this be a good place to use one of the wide variety of decorative stitching patterns to attach the panel for example Double Loop, Baggins stitch or Triple Cordovan? If there already exists a comprehensive book on a large variety of stitching patterns please steer us towards the book. Should such a book not exist perhaps Weaver will sponsor a Leather Craftsman to author one. Thanks for sharing.

I'm actually going to ask Chuck to answer this one. While I know my way around stitching, he's far more knowledgeable about it than I am. I'll text him and ask him to reply to your question. :)

One major thing to consider with this type of thing is that you still want the journal to be able to open as flat as possible, so be careful about how many gears you place and where you place it.
I've been considering the journal kit, with it's size, does it fit a standard composition notebook, because I've been looking for a good replacement for one I used to have that I could replace the notebook in as needed...had a puppy at one point that chewed through it years ago and most leather journal 'covers' are ones where you need to stitch it in or are for odd sizes

"Just glue some gears on it and call it Steampunk..." 😂
    Still. I like it anyway.

Just because you put gears on something, doesn't make it "steam punk"
