    Marco casually mixing red and blue into an interesting black is my new favorite thing to happen this week. Another one well done!

    • @ColonelSandersLite
      @ColonelSandersLite 2 года назад +8

      @@davidgallimore3385 Here's why -
      That wasn't red, it was *orange*.
      Properly proportioned, R+Y+B = black.
      A pretty common way to mix black from primaries goes like this - Take flat blue and yellow and mix a very solid green. Add that to red. Adjust. Too purple? Add yellow. Too green? Add red. Too brown? Add blue.
      Of course, you don't have to start by mixing green. You can make any of the secondaries and then add the opposing primary. Add blue to orange or add yellow to purple.
      Like he said, this is fundamental color wheel stuff. Checking into color wheel theory is worth your time.

      @DozenDeuce Год назад +1

      @@terpdx Mastery takes years. Concentrate on a single area to improve, painting fabric for instance. Then, over the course of a few months, get a bunch of models that are covered in fabric. ONLY paint the fabric portion of the models. Experiment, screwup, re-primer, experiment, screwup, re-primer. Repeat until you don’t screwup fabric anymore, then continue repeating until you’re actually impressed with how you do fabric. Only then do you move on to, say, skin or leather or metallics. You’ll be shocked at how much better you get in just a few years. This concentrated approach is called ‘deliberate practice’, where you deliberately concentrate on turning a weakness into a strength. Godspeed.

    Watching him airbrush into tiny areas that he has already painted around is soul crushing. I can't imagine ever being confident enough with an airbrush to risk ruining my work with overspray. Maybe someday but seems hard to imagine.

    • @hobomasterxxx
      @hobomasterxxx 2 года назад +3

      If you're really worried, you can always varnish first. With a decent coat of varnish it's pretty easy to pull off freshly airbrushed layers with some airbrush cleaner and not damage the underlying paintjob, considering the paint is so thin.

    • @Illyclone

      You can see his overspray on a good portion of the model. I'd say it never makes it look bad, A little red on the armor when spraying the ribbons almost looks like a reflection, Little red on the ivory skulls makes them warmer.

    I know that GW war games seem to be the sweet spot for most RUclips painters and consumers... But I would love to see more focus on board game minis to bring some variety on the models... There are amazing models from CMON, Mythic and Awaken Realms. The Chibis on the other show was a great start. Also, I would dare to say board games is where most of the potential future painters are since people do not feel they must paint their minis, in the same way that paint is an almost mandatory part of the GW war hobby.

    Amazing work from start to finish. This is just me so not an insult. The cloak doesn't read black to me at all. I get the chromatic concept and it looks really awesome I just feel maybe it was pushed too far and it doesn't quite read as black now. Maybe a couple thin solid black filters over the entirety of the cloak would fix this for me. That ork skin is astonishing btw. Will have to give it a shot myself. Ork fanatic here obviously lol cheers.

    Hi Marco! Love your videos! There is a lot of great content out in the mini-painting space, but your channel is my favorite. I would love to see some speedpainting of either kill teams of Dungeon Bowl teams :D
