Spending Family Time Together, Around The Fire, Eating Off The Grill, Telling Stories And Toasting Marshmallows Is A Beautiful Thing......Thank you...May you and your family have a Blessed Good Night...🙏✨️
When I was little I always loved the end of the night. Momma would get us in our sleeping bags and then we would fall asleep to the sound of the grown-ups talking around the fire. I wish I could remember more of the stories they told back then!
What a fun video, Tipper! It's so nice to see you all enjoying each other's company around the campfire. Matt's war stories were great. He really has come out of his shell, hasn't he!
Your microphone is outstanding. It picked-up the conversation, near and far. Really good audio. It was like we were there with you!
The weekend is gone already. I hope you have a wonderful week, Tipper!
They go by so fast! Thank you Roland 😀
Before, all I heard from Matt was Uh Hu and Yep. He is actually quite eloquent, personal experience stories are a great common bond. We all need to write our own book.
Matt’s personality shines when the sun goes down! Lol! Good stories! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
You know the one thing that stood out to me with this video, and its probably an odd thing to notice....When Matt stopped for a second and noticed and appreciated the color of the wood. We all need to be this connected with our homes, selves and the earth. We need to stop and take one second to appreciate where we are, and where we came from and where we need to go still. We are so out of step and touch with each other and ourselves. Thank you for the reminded to appreciate the small things and moments in life. Time is shorter every day for us to have these chances
Oh you lucky dogs!! How awesome to cook and eat outside with family and friends. My kind of living. ♥️🙏🏼♥️
Thank you Judy 😀
I haven't had white sweet potatoes in years! I now have a mission for this coming week! My mom would make a hamburger foil pack to cook on a campfire. It had onion, potato & carrot slices all wrapped in foil w/ the hamburger patty.
That sounds yummy 😀
Good wholesome people, doing good wholesome things, make this world worth something.
Amen to that!!!
I second that!
im not sure why but your comment made me cry one tear.
my older brother chuck loved to make fires and set around them and tell stories and sing Jesus songs. The Lord needed him in 2020 and took him home at the age of 66. i miss him every day.
I'm so sorry you lost him!
Man, oh man. What an evening y'all had! When you were gathered around the fire, I couldn't help but think about what someone from another country thinks about the way y'all speak with that amazing accent. I heard every single word and understood it like I was listening to all my kin. To others, it probably sounds like a foreign language...funny where the mind goes. God Bless you all and thank you for bringing us together once again to Celebrate Appalachia!
So glad you enjoyed it 😀
I’m in England and I can understand you all just fine. We had steak and potatoes in our fire pit just the other day sat around with our children. Not so different.
I have never not understood you, I love the way you speak. And I am a New Zealander living in Australia. Maybe I am used to hearing English in a variety of accents, maybe people in your area have retained more of the original speech of early settlers from Britain, but I understand you all clear as a bell, every word.
The interesting thing to me are the words for other things - things I know by other names and also new things entirely, eg, scuppernongs. I discovered your channel a couple of months ago, have enjoyed learning about your life and culture, and trying a few of your recipes. I really like your cornbread. Mind you, I used fine ground polenta meal because the cornmeals you have are not often found here. My cornbread turned out looking just like yours, so I like to think the taste was close. The odd thing is, some other American accents are sometimes incomprehensible to me, where I know they are speaking English, sort of, but I have no idea what they just said. I really enjoy listening to all the others you chat with too.
@@carolclearwater9405 Thank you Carol! So glad you enjoy our videos 😀
Making special memories. I love sitting around a fire, listening to the crackling of the wood as it burns. No distractions from the outside world, just loved ones. And I'm so happy to hear Matt talk, he's so quite...LOL
I can smell the burning wood...
Sitting around the fireplace cooking enjoying nature and all the sights and sounds. Beats sitting at a restaurant anyday 😊😊
Definitely!
I love Matt's stories, especially the one about the hot bacon burning through the plate. LOL Thanks as always for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
I admire you guys all there sitting around a nice fire and cooking your supper on the fire. Great stories as well! Such great way to bring family together!
I like the comment one person said below "thank you for bringing us together once again to Celebrate Appalachia"!
Thanks so much 😀
Family time, cherish it, those memories mean so much. Thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure! 😀
I miss those evenings around the fire and food with my parents and have my kids listen to their grandparents stories of when they were younger etc…❤ I try to do this with my kid’s as often as possible since they all still live here at home. Once they get married and start having children of their own, we might not have time to always get together. Have a blessed Sunday evening 🙏🏼 ❤
Glad you are able to enjoy time round the fire too 😀
Oh, Tipper, what a great evening, having a cookout and a campfire time! I loved everybody’s stories.
Early in the video, Matt was splitting small kindling for the fire. I was amazed at his wonderful eye with the axe. We’ll just have to call him Ol Dead-eye! He was so accurate. I’ve split a fair amount of wood in my many years, but I’ve never had an aim like that! Cheers for the Deer Hunter!
just have to use one good tool often, and long, and you'd be surprised what your eye and body learn.
Your family embodies everything I love about living in N Georgia. Down to earth people, hard working, proud of their heritage. I’ve lived here 15 years and wished I moved here sooner. Everyone our family has met has always been welcoming and accepting (even when we talk funny).
I love it! Some of my favorite memories of childhood were made around a camp fire. The adults would talk for hours and the kids were enthralled... better than television. Each kid had their favorite story and would wait for that story to come up in conversation. We knew everyone's favorite story so we would secretly watch their expression as it was told. I'm so glad that there are families that continue to spend time with each other. You've raised your girls on the simple things in life, which to me is the finer things, and it shows in the way they respect and love people, the way they live their lives, and the way the love the Lord.
Thank you! Those family stories are the best 😀
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that! From the evocative sound of chopping kindling onto a log, to sitting around swapping favorite family stories, it was like a tonic to me. I was so there with you that I could practically smell the woodsmoke. Thank you for including us to share your fire.
Love it, even the sound of wood splitting is so comforting. God bless you guys.
Thank you 😀
I was sad when the video ended because it felt like I was right there with y'all by that nice fire, listening to the conversation. I loved doing that with my family. The food cooked on an open fire like that is always delicious and sitting together, just sharing good times and good memories is the best!
There is no video of your husband building and tending a fire that I don't watch when I come across one, Tipper. He's the best I've ever seen. Plus, it reminds me of watching my daddy build fires when my family went camping every summer in Yosemite in my earliest years and later in the Cascade Range in Oregon.
My blood pressure dropped 20 points watching this video. Nothing better than family around a camp fire. God bless.
I'm envious, I can't go in my backyard and just start a fire if I want to. I live in the city but am more of a rural person by heart. One of the reasons I love watching ya'll is that I can live out that side of me vicariously through your videos! Love your family and your ways!
Thanks again Tipper for taking us along for dinner. 👍🙏
I love videos like this. It feels like we are right there with you. I can't thank you enough for allowing to be a part of your special family gatherings. I miss our big family get togethers. We don't have them anymore because mom and dad are gone now. Watching this makes me feel like I am part of something again. ❤
That’s almost like being there. What a great way to celebrate fall. Katie has been a topic of conversation here today. The spiderweb coffin earrings I ordered for my wife arrived and are very popular.
So glad the earrings are a hit 😀
That looks like a well cared for vintage Plumb axe. And you can tell Matt is an experienced woodsman.
The cat and I enjoyed watching your video. I had no choice but to include my cat as she worked her way under my tablet and sat on my lap. She liked the occasional glimpse of the chickens. I love a campfire when we go camping and I've often baked potatoes in the coals while hubby cooked steaks on the charcoal grill. He doesn't like to necessarily cook over campfire, I've no idea why, but I sneak in as much campfire cooking as I can.
Thank you Karen 😀
The most precious commodity in the world is “Good Family”, everything else is close second
That whole meal looked amazing. Thanks for sharing Tipper.
Thank you Robin 😀
Precious memories are built when families spend quality time together, what a blessing. Thank you for allowing us to tag along
Nothing like a good fire surrounded by family and good meal!
Thanks for having me, Y’all. It was so much fun. What a great way to spend the day. Sending you lots of Love and prayers from Texas 🙏♥️🤠
Growing up in southern Ohio in the 1950s & 60s we burned our trash in the very back of our yard. Sometimes for fun our mom would let us wrap a potato in foil and cook it next to the trash pile. Now, looking back, my sister and I laugh about the toxic things that must have been in those fires. That might explain a lot about how we are today. Love your Sunday evening family times.
It's been too many years since I sat around a fire. The food sounds delicious and I'll bet it smells wonderful! White sweet, potatoes were Granny's favorite and Granddaddy loved the orange waxy ones. They're both really good but have a different texture and taste so I ate both! Yummy with homemade butter.
Thank you Kathy 😀
Y’all remind me of my family. This was one of our favorite times as well. Love your videos! ❤
What a feast! It brought me back to the days when my kids were younger and we used to camp with large group of campers. We celebrated our granddaughter’s 3rd birthday, today. There is nothing I enjoyed more then campfire and cooking on one! Thank everyone for inviting me into your yard!😊🇨🇦
Happy Birthday to the sweet girl Gary 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia I shouldn’t write comments, when I’m half asleep. “cooking on one”. I’m laughing, so hard, at myself.😂 Thank you, yes my granddaughter is a sweet angel!
@@garybrunet6346 😀
Love this, I’m up here in the mountain, camped out and cooked over the fire three nights, been to Mt Mitchell, Spruce Pine, Little Switzerland, Linville Falls, Blowing Rock, Boone, Grandfather Mountain then headed to Banner Elk. Love the stories, brings back memories
Sounds great!
Ohhh what a fun evening! Wonderful supper! Fun conversation! Terrific warm cozy fire! The only thing I missed was Katie's beautiful fiddle music! Thank you for bringing us along! It's been a long time since I've sat in front of a campfire. Brings back memories of the wonderful smell of the fire on an Autumn night and the chill in the air! God bless you all!! Thanks for the memories!!
What a great family time! The meal looked delicious. I would have been so disappointed at losing all that bacon from Matt's story.
I can remember when I was 16,we lived in NW Arkansas, Siloam springs,& we were going to the country for picnic, mother & daddy,my maternal grandparents,a set of twin brothers 7yr younger than me. My mother packed up a pot of cooked beans, fried pork chops, jar beet pickles, and some bread!! So we had dinner "on the ground" in the country!!!
This video was so wonderful the steaks & sweet potatos looked so good I've never heard of a white sweet potato till now thank you for sharing that!
❤️❤️
🥔🔥🥩
You are so welcome 😀
Awww! This is wonderful. Family, delicious food, and the beautiful outdoors. I can almost smell all the scrumptious aromas.
Telling stories around the campfire 🔥. Fun memories. ❤️
😀
I’m glad y’all are a “normal “ family. Love y’all. Thanks for sharing. 😊
This was good times right here! Nothin’ like a fire and some conversations late of the evening!👍
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
I wish we had smell-o-vision. I love the smell of a fire and adding the steaks just kicked it up a notch. Tomorrow is our anniversary, we may have to have a steak! Have a great week! Much love from SC, Jane ❤️🙏🏻
Thank you Jane! Happy Anniversary!!
@@CelebratingAppalachia ❤️Thanks!
Taste-o-vision would be even better😋
What a neat family outing. Love sitting around the campfire telling stories.
Why is it that food and conversation are so much better while sitting around a fire at night. I remember we would go to the lake which was only a couple of miles from our house on Saturday evening with some others from our neighborhood and church. Everyone would bring something. The men would cook hamburgers and hot dogs. We always had 2 or 3 desserts . We would stay until it got dark and cool and just sit around and reminisce like y'all did. We would all go home about 9 o'clock but we were all at church Sunday morning. Wouldn't change anything about my southern upbringing.
Been such a long time since I’ve sat by a roaring fire like that….this brought back so many wonderful memories!!
Now I want what y'all are having! The great company and surroundings as well!
Listen to that wildlife ♥️🥰
Thank you again for sharing the best of the best!!! Seattle kin!
God Bless you all 🙏🏽
Thank you Lisa 😀
🥰
We've had about the prettiest fall this year that I can remember. I guess it's because it was so dry, but last night my husband and son-in-law started a fire to burn some brush and boxes, and they really had to watch it. I wish you all would visit us in Eastern KY, and we'd sit around a fire here too! What a fun way to spend the evening!
It has been pretty 😀 Thank you Sandy!
I love that your family enjoys a fire outside and actually cook your meal on the fire. I’m from just north of Atlanta, born raised and raised my own family there. I’m now living in Montana to be near our son and his family. I miss home so much. The trees and the sounds of the woods. There is a different beauty here. I was glad to see y’all moving the dry leaves away from the fire. Living out west, I am aware of wildfires. We live in Missoula and they are very strict with having a fire outside. Right now we have a foot of snow already, so wildfires aren’t a problem this time of year. We used to take the kids camping up at Smokemont. I love your videos.
Great memories around the campfire 🔥! It’s been hard getting the grandkids to stick around. I guess it’s not enough.
I'm sorry! Hopefully they will come around 😀
I'd be too busy looking out for bears, snakes and Sasquatch to enjoy myself outside especially once the sun sets!😍🤩😘🤗Great video, though! Lovely family! 😍🙏💙♥️💜😚🙂
I wish I could like this a million times.
😀 Thank you!
That's the way to enjoy a evening with family.
I've never heard of white sweet potatoes before. Thank you for sharing your family and meals with us. I myself love to eat outside, like you've said before everything taste better when you eat it outdoors. Have a blessed evening.😊
Thank you Cindy 😀
I hadn't heard of white sweet potatoes! But I love sweet potatoes! I eat them as dessert, not with my other food.
Thankyou so much. One of life's very simple pleasures having family around the fire
Looks like all of you. Enjoy your evening around the campfire enjoy an old stories and having fun tell him about them.
That’s always the first part about cook it outside as being able to sit around the campfire talk about the old times.
My husband was a logger and he mostly did thinning....pines. I miss going to the woods and the smell of fresh cut pine!! When we were dating I would crawl up under the big skidders and help him work on them (fetching tools, etc).
I had my son buy some of your popsicles and I am addicted already! Love the coconut and grape the most.
Thank you Rebecca! I love that smell too 😀
We tried the pomegranate and loved them!
I keep thinking of things to say and add another comment! At our camper at the lake in my hometown in VA, my husband made our fire ring by burying a skidder tire rim part way in the ground. He made the best campfires in that rim! We roasted lots of marshmallows. I love them burnt!
@@rebeccajones9735 I keep commenting too much bc I can’t help it, 😂🤣 I feel like I’m sitting around the fire with them! 😍
@@rebeccajones9735 😀 Love that!
I love the sounds of a fire, it's the best part of having a fireplace in the house I think.
I don’t know what it is about building a fire. But, watching you was … simply wonderful
I had to stop the video so I didn't forget to tell you how much I appreciate you showing how to chop up the wood and the fire. I know there's more to it when it comes to chopping down a tree or harvesting dead wood, though it may be second nature or boring to you, it's so helpful for those of us that haven't been taught. Now I'll finish the video...
Nothing better then dinner on a open fire family time and mountain fresh air ❤
Nice Tipper First heavy snow Dad would take the three of us boys out on the hill in our back yard sledding for an hour or so and then we would have a fire and fry white potatoes what you call Arsh with corned beef hash and fried eggs It was a wonderful family tradition I love yours too Thanks for sharing it God bless
What great memories 😀
We have a big fire pit where the whole family hangs out. Grand kids too. That man knows how to make a good fire.
Hearing the crackling of the fire sounded so peaceful! What a wonderful way to have a family supper! Makes me want to start a fire in the backyard & cook something! That wasn't no cookout, that was a feast! Our son burned off a brush pile back in early summer & had smores for them to eat. I can't even get down to the backyard anymore. But it's ok...our son sends me pictures to my phone so I don't feel totally left out. God bless y'all! Hugs from VA! 🤗 🙏💗
Thinking of you this morning Debbie! I hope you have a really good week!
I laughed at Matt's story. That was one time you didn't save your bacon!😉😁 I miss setting around the fire with the family. Most times neighbors would stop by and visit. we always had plenty to eat. Sometimes we'd play music around the fire, the kids would play themselves out then fall asleep by the fire. Somebody would look and it'd be 2:00 in the morning! We'd all gather up, put the fire out, say our goodbyes and go in. Thanks for the memories and thanks for letting us sit by the fire with y'all. Stay safe and GOD bless
Love watching you let us know how things used to be. How you
Did stuff when you didn't have it, made you think for yourself, be resourceful and hardworking.
Bless you and your family. No snowflakes there!
Not many things better than sitting around a camp fire eating s’mores and sharing stories. Loved this video.
Love bbq it’s always so delicious! Nice little setup, great fire building Matt. Enjoy your weekend.
What good times!!!! I always did love a good fire and story telling!! Thanks for the memories!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia We all need to get back to those times or just take the time to start new memories!!! We don't live on the edge of some woods but we do have us a fire pit. Them brown beans and green beans are delicious fixed over that pit!!!!!!!
Fire sure was pretty. Looked nice together with the family sure did enjoy it. You all are such a lovely famly, thank you so much for sharing them. I love the stories.
Thank you so much 🤗
As we say from my neck of the woods, Those are My People!! Loved this video
That steak looks sooooo good!
😀
Well, I enjoyed that.. Haven't been out by a campfire in many, many years. As a kid in the Girl Scouts, I have great memories of learning how to start a fire, cooking on it and sitting around with someone playing guitar and singing songs. Only once as an adult have I been around a fire roasting marshmallows. I need to find a way to do this again! What a perfect night, cookout on the fire, roasted marshmallows, the cricket sounds and stories. So nice. Never heard of white sweet potatoes, sounds good! Thanks so much for sharing your lovely night with us.
Wonderful evening for you all,Matt’s stories made me laugh.
What a lovely family gathering, there is nothing so heartwarming as a campfire and family!
Enjoyed this ! Great time making memories around the fire! It's great living in the mountains and able to do this at home. People travel from all over to come to our mountains to enjoy these times . I love stories around the fire ! Matt is a great story teller , I could listen to his stories about his experiences all day! The food looked so good! I know those steaks and potatoes were delicious! The steaks were grilled perfect ...yummy! I love the smell of wood smoke , especially in the autumn and the warmth of the fire on chilly autumn evenings. I also love the smell of rich pine , it reminds me of home and my youth , with mom and dad...moments in time become precious memories! Thanks tipper for sharing this ! Appreciate y'all always...God bless...🙏❤
Thank you Ben 😀
Love Matt's stories he really cracks me up!😂
😀
Thanks much for sharing these moments and showing us how it's done!
The food looks delicious!!
That was a great video thank you all for sharing your evening with us .Your supper looks good . Never have I ate white sweet potatoes . See if they have them here in Colorado .
I loved when mum had a bonfire when I was little and cooked potatoes in it ❤ you can't beat a bonfire potato! Love from Scotland

LOVE me (and married me!) A man who can build a proper fire. Matt, you are a talented man!
I loved this video. I'm a young mother to a very active two year old. When I put him down for bed and I get settled into bed I like looking at your videos it's very relaxing. This one was one of the best I felt like I was there by the fire with you guys. Made me very relaxed to sleep with peace.
So glad you enjoyed it!! I remember the joy of getting my two year olds settled down 😀
I've never had white sweet potatoes but they sure look really good. Wonderful quality time with family is precious. It brought back great memories for me so thank you. The good Lord bless y'all. 🙏🏻❣️🙏🏻
Out here in the high desert of California for years now, we get an old washing machine wringer, cut the center post out, and use it for a camp fire ring ! Works bitchen !
Weld 4 couplings on the bottom
With the size pipe nipples for the correct height you wish, and you can always remove them for transportation ! Blessings today...
It looks yummy! I have always loved food cooked on a fire. It tastes so much better. I love a outside fire no matter the time of year. My mom & dad called me a fire bug.
I totally agree! 😀
Thanks for allowing us to enjoy the fire and good folk!
I have sat here and laughed out loud at the spider and bat stories🤣 ❤
😀
I loved sitting around the fire...i love fires too...it was so pretty when it was red hot...the steaks & salad looked delicious! Not a fan of sweet taters but learned something new...that there's white sweet taters...yall have a great evening!

I literally came here to see how he does his wood for the fire. I loved this video all the way through
