one L8 or L12 feat option you missed is Spell Sniper, which can get you Int-based Eldritch Blast (which is an evocation spell, so will scale with your L10 class feature like it scales with agonizing blast normally) as well as increasing the crit rate of all your ray spells
6:56 Why not dualwield Markoheskir and Staff of Spellpower? Double uses of Arcane Battery. Add Freecast (when it works) and that's three free Level 6 spells.
@CasualVeteranGamer It's how I trivialise the bossfight with all the watchers and the tetrapod Titan. Does require a pretty early House of Hope visit, but there isn't much that can survive Chain Lightning spam from a Storm Sorc. I actually just swapped the staffs, though. Wasted an action. I didn't think about giving the sorc a martial feat like dual wielding and having them DW staffs. That's an excellent idea. I gotta do that. Could kill whole crowds in one turn, especially with high spell DC and Haste.

We are also using one of the story characters who is a barbarian. These videos are very helpful as I develop the best configuration and strategies for my wizard.

On the verge of finishing Act 2 with Gale as a Divination Wizard. Potent Die can be helpful, but with my PC being a Sorcerer, don't have Gale in my party much, unless I'm advancing his story line. How would you rank Abjuration, Divination, and Evocation for him, as my PC will be a Bard in my 2nd playthrough (which may happen by the end of the year at this rate)?
I feel like Abjuration works best if you are using armour of agathys, but even without it your wizard can be very difficult to kill at higher levels. Evocation worked best when your wizard is the one doing the blasting, and especially if you pick the right equipment to boost it all. However, for me, the best one overall is till divination because it will be useful no matter what party composition you have, and can be used to either help the wizard, or another party member. Plus I like getting the free see invisibility and darkvision!
Just reroll him as a sorcerer. He's begging to be a Charisma caster, given how pretty and talkative he is -- I don't buy him as a wizard. Also, sorcerers are the most powerful magic class.
@@noecarrier5035 Actually considering that, as I agree that having a Sorcerer as your party's caster is a major plus. An alternative is to make Wyll a Sorlock. However, In my current playthroug he does really well as a Padlock.
Fun one! I am torn about wizards in BG three right now. Late game they are incredible, but late game every character class is incredible. Early on the ability to learn spells from scrolls is overwhelmingly good, but because of the way, it is handled in BG three that only takes one level of wizard. I tend to prefer the Sorcerer with an education build (1 Wizard X other caster); you lose some of the cool stuff wizard specialties, bring to the table, but the ability to cast two or three spells per action even in the early game is just overwhelming.
I don't currently have a wizard in my party and I really miss their versatility. I have a sorcerer, but I find myself running out of sorcery points far sooner than spell slots, so then I either end up not using metamagic, or using spell slots for sorcery points, which then makes me feel bad because then I can cast fewer spells! That's just a preference thing though, there's nothing wrong with sorcerers.
@@CasualVeteranGamer I grok. The Sorcerer is all about twin or quicken spell on that first action. Starting a fight off with two or three crowd control spells or area attacks is a game changer. To fix the problem of not having enough spells to choose from, take one level of wizard at level 4 and pick scrolls of ritual spells, spells without rolls (magic missile), or buffs. Your Sorcerer can now use slots in combat for offense on that first round, then out of combat to buff the party or help out with exploration. It really changed how much I valued my sorcerer character.

It's rare for casters to get their casting stat added to their spell damage, with the other main exceptions being warlocks who are able to get an evocation (level 2) to add their charisma modifier to eldritch blast only, dragon ancestor sorcerers, who can add their charisma modifier to any spell with the damage type associated with their dragon ancestry (level 6), and some cleric domains, light and knowledge, can add their wisdom modifier to cleric cantrips (level 8).

As a Summoner fan, Evo wizard is my go to. So much damage to the correct targets!

I have recorded one today after reading this comment, although it won't be released for a while.
I'm personally a fan of Warlocks. 6 spells per day of the HIGHEST level spell slot is just too juicy to pass up.
As a pure warlock that goes up to 9 level 5 spells per day eventually, which is even juicier!

Really the main reason I always leave Gale on Evocation is the Danger Close Fireball. Sometimes you really do need to shell your own position.

Sorcerer is a great support caster as well, doubled haste for 3 sorcery points is pretty busted @@OakandIV
