When I was a kid we traveled a lot. I'd be asleep in the back but always seemed to wake up right before we got to Stuckey's. Loved the copper and turquoise jewelry as well as the cedar boxes. 😸

I'm fortunate enough to have been to all 50 states! It was my passion and a life-time goal, it just did not happen. My last state was DE. I was so excited and sometimes got overwhelmed w/emotion when I entered a new state. What a beautiful country we have. I love Stuckey's and have never been to Buc-ees, but, want to go!

I don't know why but I'm afraid the other shoe is going to drop and someone, whether it's the insurance or the repair shop, is going to try to hit Jacob up for some of the rental fees for the temporary car. I'm afraid they'll try to say that Jacob has to pay because he went over the allotted number of miles or something. Don't let them do it, Jacob!

The Bleneim Ginger-Ale is actually pronounced "Bleh-nuhm" as opposed to "Blen-Hime". It used to be manufactured at the Blenheim Bottling Company in Bleneim, SC and was acquired in 1993 by the Schafer family who also owns South of the Border. It's now bottled and manufactured at a new plant at South of the Border near the Camp Pedro RV Park.

Love roadside attractions and unique fun truck stops. I am so excited they broke ground for a new Buckees just south of Wichita on the turnpike by Wellington. Just very close to the Ks Okl state line, I can't wait!!! There used to be a place that had the shape of a church, but it had a tall red roof, white walls, and black bricks 1/2 way down. Inside, they had a huge gift store, then a restaurant. Oh, in front of the building, there was a huge beehive where you could watch thousands of bees it was amazing, almost hypnotic.
They may have had gas pumps, maybe . I know they were around in the 70s and early 80s . My dad would drive us from Ks to Orlando, to Anaheim, down to Texas, and to Missouri and Iowa. I was born and raised in South Central Ks. So if anyone remembers these places, let me know. Keep up the great job there Sherriff of South of the Boarder !!😅

The palmetto is a type of palm in the "sabal'" family. The three are palmettos, dwarf palmettos and sabal minors (AKA swamp palmetto) All three are native the the lower southeast (SC,GA,FL,AL, MS,LA and TX) other palms you will see in the lowcountry are pindo palms, Canary island date palms, California fans, windmill Palms and sometimes queens but very rarely. I know I'm missing a few more but yeah contrary to popular belief not only does SC have palms but we have A LOT of different palm species throughout.

Kolache simply means pastry. Growing up, my aunts made kolache - pastry twists filled with raspberry, poppy seed or ground walnuts. I had moved to Texas before I realized almost anything can be Kolache. You can apparently put any twist on it you like.
