The scene where they walk through the drainage ditch right there near the building was preceded by a scene with a building in the background that is nowhere around there. So, apparently there were two different cuts of the same scene with the same dialogue and they stitched them together. If you watch the movie it's when Tom is running toward them. The building right behind him is a large building. They start talking with the building in the background. Yet, when they get to the drainage ditch, they conversation continues as if uninterrupted, but that was two different locations. The drainage ditch was right there, but the tall building was somewhere else, either in Austin or Dallas. It makes me wonder if they originally cut the whole scene at the other location but later decided they wanted to do the drainage ditch scene and reshot part of it there.
Did they know they were living in Peter's apt when you showed up at their door.?
Office Space is one of my favorite movies of all time. I saw it as a teenager, and liked it. But when I grew older and got hired at my very own office job...I developed an entirely new love for the movie and in many ways, the filmed saved my life. I hated that job lol Loved this video! So cool seeing the filming locations as they exist today.
I like how mundane the buildings are. Really adds to the look of the film

I love office space. It's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I didn't know where it was filmed, but that's really awesome that not only are most of the locations still there, most of them still look the same. Safe travels to you.

Hi there Jay, this is another fun and amazing video my friend!!! I love that movie, it made me laugh like crazy. I just watched it the other night!!! Thats so awesome that all the buildings are still around where they did all the filming. My favorite is the pub, love all the old wood and cool things in there. YEP!!! When I was watching office space over and over in my teens,I honestly wanted Peter's life. An office job with a nice apartment. I never understood why he was so unhappy lol

Very nice video! I worked on the film, so it was fun to see all those locations again. Peter's apartment was built as a set, the production designer used the basic look of the apartments in the complex as a jumping off point, and it was located in the back of the office complex where we shot the Initech scenes. The rear of the office set was the conference room where the two Bobs hold their interviews; on the other side of the wall there was a big open space, the drop ceiling cleared out for maximum height and the apartment set was built there, which included a little recreation of the stairway landing and railing glimpsed outside the door when Peter enters.
It’s such an honor to have you here to have your input thank you so much. That is so fascinating. I just recently watched the movie and I was thinking… Man, maybe I was active real apartment location, but you have confirmed it. That’s so cool.
I saw that quick glimpse of the stairwell, and I was like… Maybe I was at the real location, but you just confirmed it there. Great job at re-creating the practical location.!!
@@TampaJay We indeed shot the exteriors at the same spot you were at, including the scene with Peter and Lawrence talking outside the apartments. I never went inside the actual apartment so it was interesting to see in your video how similar it was to the set!

I'm so glad they didn't make a sequel, because the film stands on its own and is a perfect time capsule of the tech bubble from the mid-90s thru the early 2000s. Those were the days.

They also shot a scene at a bar that was attached to a Holiday Inn. I was an extra in that scene, but you couldn't see me I was so far back. But I did see Ron Livingston work his magic.

08:30 it looks like they alternated filming in both apartments. In the scene where they open the door to the magazine salesman, you can see the left side apartment entrance.

The very first traffic scenes are actually from 635 in Dallas but after they start showing the guys in their cars it's in Austin. But you can totally see buildings and road signs that show the very beginning of the movie is from Dallas. So technically a piece of it was filmed in Dallas.

I've been in that build a dozen times visiting Austin in the early 90s when I worked for MCI and they were in that building. I knew Freidrich Lane sounded familiar. We stayed off Ben White at the Omni Hotel too. Don't even know if that's still around.
