I am one of the customers waiting on my order. I have wanted one of your vises since I first saw it on your first videos. When you announced the sale back in April, I could not believe the level of discount and just had to order it. Heck, I do not even do woodworking and I wanted it. Luckily, not in a hurry as I am still working on getting power and a driveway to my new workshop. It is mostly a shop for working on my cars and motorcycles and learning how to use a metal lathe and a milling machine... but I want to have a bench with your vise even if it is to sit down with a cup of coffee and admire the darn thing... it is a frigging amazing looking work of mechanical art. Thank you for the update and for the replies to my emails. As others have mentioned you have been upfront with your customers and that is much appreciated.
Thanks for this video. I was looking for instructions to install this just yesterday. And i figured it out mostly and went to install the guides and noticed the lack of countersink, I thought I was just nuts. I appreciate what you do and the effort you put in. It's honestly amazing what you accomplish with such a small company.
Andy, As someone who participated in the preorder of the original TTV before the slip rings were replaced with the nuts on the end of the screws; you have nothing to apologize for. You have been so upfront with the customer base that you have well earned that it puts every other business I have come into contact with in recent years, or possibly ever, to shame. I will definitely be purchasing a second vise since the first one I bought is too long for the end of my Roubo style worktop, interfering with my scraps drawer...a huge oversight on my part when measuring. You sir, are a compliment to inventors and entrepreneurs!
I know you have been looking more closely at your production, so I just wanted to say your camera quality on this video is great. The shots of you with the out of focus background look great.
Easily got my thumbs up! It's very rare anymore to see a business provide such dedication and otherwise responsibility to its customers. Also a thumbs up for NO stupid or redundant music, quite detailed information , and just an overall down-to-earth video that's interesting to follow along. Thank you for sharing
People make mistakes for me in admitting to them is the upmost importance and you are making them right that is everything to me. I don’t expect people to be perfect, but I really appreciate when somebody admits there was a mistake and tries and does their best to fix those mistakes we’re human
Couldn't you just make a basic punch-template of the 3 hole locations right from the start, do the smallest middle-hole first, then drill out the larger ones after? Since a forstner has a center-follower. It feels like this is complicating by artificially forcing a specific order of operations that now needs a drill-guide, but is that necessary?
@SteveAugust7 it starts out as such in this video, but I thought that is the side of the recipient's bench where they would be responsible for hardware install? If this is only meant to upgrade an existing piece with a hole pre-fabbed in it, then understandable, but not totally clear. Else if starting with a fresh surface, maybe my suggestion might help.
Just a suggestion. But maybe it's time for an updated build video for your vices since so much has changed and been updated. Would be great to go to one video to get everything we need to watch on how to assemble your vice, build the jaw, installing the swivel mount, installing the fast action handle and installing the bearing guides :) I realize you're going to be busy building fixing the guides but maybe after the holidays that is something you could plan on doing. I know you said you wanted to step up your video filming game. This would be the perfect opportunity!
Having just bought a small laser cutter it seems a simple laser cut jig for installing the new guides might be a nice addition , and in the quantaties you make your vices im sure you could get a bulk discount making them very economical maybe down to a couple of dollars each.
For our V1 Powercore I had a similar issue. Made a relatively simple mistake with our extrusion die based on some CAD that did not match a prototype we recieved. Dumbly trusted the CAD and had to do 2000 reworks by hand to get the parts right and shipped out. Haven't made the same mistake since haha -Cooper
If you would a prototype the part with a 3-D printed part, maybe you would’ve caught the missing chamfer. You could make a little fixture that is 3-D printed and include it with the kit. Great video look forward to your next one.
The buzzing sound you hear in some recordings? It's probably due to double-recording the audio with the lavalier mic and the one in the camera simultaneously, but with ~3 ms delay between them. That or a direct bounce form the ceiling. If hard-wired, that would correspond to a 1 m distance.
I recvd a set of these last week w/o the counter sink. Any reason why I can't counter sink the hole a little deeper to account for a screw head? Seems reasonable.
Thank you for the update! For those of us that received a preorder without the countersink, is there anything we need to do to request the replacements? Or will they be sent out automatically?
I haven't installed mine yet. Heck I haven't even built my bench yet. Ill look at my 2 sets of guides and see whats what. Thanks for alerting us to this. Shit happens.. we forgive you!
Posting for your analytics :) and a quick question. So those of us that have already received our bearing guides (two sets in my case) will automatically receive new rails with the countersinks from you and dont need to request them?
I was wondering that when I got mine … on the other hand, since there were no instructions for the screw I just grabbed an appropriately sized button head machine screw and threaded it straight into my maple jaws. Biggest issue I had was figuring out the right length of screw to avoid scabbing the back of the vise (1in seems good).
Hard to be mad with your transparency and the steps you take to make things right. One day I'll have a bench worthy of your vise!

I love how straightforward and take-responsibility you are. It's a trait that's far too uncommon.
Honestly.. this video and your transparency makes me want to purchase the rail and swivel mounts even more. Great work. Thanks for the updates
0:55 - "I will never be reworking screws again."
"I would not say such things if I were you."

Andy, I have never had the pleasure to meet you not sure that I ever will, but you truly do seem to be an absolutely amazing individual!
I had dinner with him a couple years ago at Maker Camp...Andrew's well of knowledge is deep. Great guy!

Your focus on video improvement is paying off. I didn't think you were lacking in any way before, but this video is really top notch.
Thanks for letting me know, it is more work so good to hear it’s noticed

A Quality Manager I knew said, "In production, there's something hitting the fan every day."

The first large hole is already drilled for the vise screw. . .

Wow, integrity. Refreshing. I'll give my business to someone who fixes their mistakes any day over someone whose mistakes I don't know about.
Sounds like it’s time to teach a close family member or friend how to use the drill press. 😂
“I’m not gonna get into who’s at fault for that, because it’s me.” 😂

Loving the improvements in video quality!

I wish I was closer to help! 😮
Thx Andrew . Impressive, honest and great business plan.

You could definitely do that and performance would not be affected
camera upgrades are lit, nice video aswell!
Thank you for the update! For those of us that received a preorder without the countersink, is there anything we need to do to request the replacements? Or will they be sent out automatically?
This comment is enough, I’ll send you replacements
@AndrewKleinWW thank you sir! Doing business with Inkleind is always a pleasure. Just let me know where to return the originals.
I haven't installed mine yet. Heck I haven't even built my bench yet. Ill look at my 2 sets of guides and see whats what. Thanks for alerting us to this. Shit happens.. we forgive you!

Good lighting!
Thanks, and thank you for joining the channel, your support means a lot!
1 million beers moment
Being a one man show must be a bear.
Dude…. Hire someone for a few days to drill them for you in your shop. Buy back your time!
