Thanks for showing your numbers during the fitting. Helps to understand why certain combinations don't work for me. I live in +4 attack angle range with a few degrees in to out swing path. Those low spin drivers aren't going to be the happiest with that.
Titleist rules. last year i was custom fit for TSR3 with a HZDRS Red CB, 6.0 50 gram shaft, best driver/shaft for me ever. certainly not changing anytime soon, at least for 3-4 years
Thats interesting what you say about Titleist and their shaft choices. I have been to two fitting withg them with 2x very different results and i do not think the offerings that Titleist do actually fully suit how good that GT2 & GT3 heads are to the general club player. Having now tried a GT3 in 8 degree with a TPT 18Hi Shaft with stunning results, i truely think more people need to go to the likesof SGGT and get properly fitted.
ACRRA's for everybody !!! nothing you can do with being fit into 2024 model heads but this is the exact complaint about fitters in my area pushing Accra shafts which are said to have the largest profit for the fitter, now they do make nice shafts but what fitter wouldn't have you hit some from the Ventus Velocore line the most popular shaft over the last 5 years in the Titleist and a Counter Balanced shaft of another make in the Ping because of how much heavier the Ping Head is, even a Auto Flex with the head weight set properly for that shaft as they are very sensitive to this and James I wrote this not to be negative towards you or your Videos ,I watch them everyday and like them very much , its more for that golfer that has never been fit and would think this is a proper fitting which imo it is not , maybe all the other shafts were edited out but it didn't look like that.
Unless some content was cut out I was a little surprised you didn’t try more shaft combos with the Titleist head, especially given some of the spin numbers….?
To me since he has a very repeatable action, I personally would have messed with more shaft brand/flex/weight options to see if there was anything we could find in terms of spin reduction. With his action, he creates a ton of spin, especially on misses and thus costing him yards. Find a couple that were good with feel and numbers, and then test some various heads, head to head with those shafts. Not dogging this lad about the fit and his process at all, everyone has their own way to do it. At the end of the day if the results are good and the club works for the player, that is great.
I'm sure you're already aware of this James but if you just get your attack angle up a few degrees you'll drop your spin considerably and pick up at least 20yds. It might be as simple as a higher tee and moving the ball forward a bit as your swing is very good.
No doubt, he was living in that 0-2 on hus attack angle. Even if he reversed it and got it between 0+2, he see a big change. The last ball he hit was his best and he was -0.4. If he was at +2 that would have been over 300
All fitters are different. True in play has alot to go off of and you did try different heads. I would have messed with the loft alittle more once you found the right feel and look. Again like you mentioned its November new stuff is coming but i still from what i see think you have room for massive improvements😊
never seen a single swing where the attack angle was even 0. if you hit down on it between -0.8 and -2 would that not explain the high spin numbers? and doesn't high spin lose distance...I am obv no club fitter but I thought launch between 12 and 14 and spin 2200 to 2600 was optimum...would it not be better to have a driver lesson to hit up a bit more ?
Ive never been fitted but I would think in the beginning your just warming up and at the end of the fitting your wearing out. So your being fitted on your swing near the halfway point. So some club combos aren't really getting a fair look
Here's a question. At what clubhead speed does an upward path start to beat a downward path, and is it determined by loft? The reason for asking is that when i was a lad, driver had almost no loft and we were taught to hit down on the ball 😮
Just a subjective view of the carry and total distances during the video were around the same values 255 carry and 275 total almost regardless of combination of head and shaft. Then the final decision showed better results. All of which, as a mathematician and engineer, lead me to believe that each person has a typical shot learned over many years, and that the technology has only a marginal effect for high quality golfers. Looking at this from the other scale of player, can the high handicap golfer make enough identical swings to detect the effect of changes in head and shaft or will the different swings mask the effect of the technology changes? I really appreciated the effort you put into this excellent content. Pity you don't know any high handicap golfers that could benefit from the skills shown by the fitter.
I would love to get a proper shaft fitting with my driver. I have just changed drivers all my days until now I got a ping…… seems to have sorted me out 😝
@ wud love to try out some shafts like the tour ad. Get the speed up in the swing for sum bigger distance! Ping driver is the only driver I’ve ever tried that makes me feel confident on the tee
Is it realistic to go to a fitting and ask for the combination regardless of price? The fittings I’ve been through the first question was what was my price point?
Question i have for you, James. Would it be worth having the fitting now given it is only a few months before there is another new line of drivers coming out. Wouldn't January or February be the time to get fit so you have a full look at all the new lineups?
Seemed like a crap fitting. Couple swings with one shaft, and immediately into the only other one. All those shafts on the wall, I feel like there was likely a good chance there was a better fit. If this was my fitting, I'd feel like the fitter was making a commission on the sale of that shaft. Also, it's just ugly.
@henrymonster9926 I've been through several thorough fittings. Never felt like a swing was wasted. But different combos produce different results. Fitters are just people and have their own favorites, and at times feel like everyone should love what they love. This was not a thorough fittings, and I'd have been very disappointed if I spent my money on this.
@@LucasMolkentinfair points, also keep in mind that this is likely a portion of the entire fitting edited nicely to fit into his YT algorithm sweet spot.. Also agree that different combos produce different results, but there is always a point of diminishing results because nobody can swing enough combos. This is part of the issue with fitting as a whole, nobody ever gets fit perfectly, they get fit as close as possible.
What garbage, 1 shaft all big boy names. Thorough fitting - hardly, not a single weight change? Why?. A proper fitting is going to take multiple times, days, just because you swing good today doesn't mean you are going to swing it good tomorrow. Your channel is usually about second hand saving money, so how much is that combo? how much is the fitting?. 😢 Are we going to see that combo in your bag in future videos. I normally quite like your videos but this was a total sham. Please do a review of the Cobra darkspeed ls 8 degree, 8 DEGREE ONLY.
It’s cheeper to adapt yourself to a driver than the driver to you. All drivers are about the same for the average/ weekend golfer work the cost around what you can afford.
7 left path good luck trying to make a shaft head combo do much with that. Come on James lets see a series of you improving your swing.
*unbiased
Winds me up, that.

Let’s go Tour Edge C725!!!

interesting test there... given the titleist fitting...

I do love this type of video

You need to get the autoflex shaft

Ping with the proper shaft is a winning combo
@ wud love to try out some shafts like the tour ad. Get the speed up in the swing for sum bigger distance! Ping driver is the only driver I’ve ever tried that makes me feel confident on the tee
Ping sorts most people out
Scott fitted me years ago
Why didn’t you try other shafts
Is it realistic to go to a fitting and ask for the combination regardless of price? The fittings I’ve been through the first question was what was my price point?

And of course he will, another video for broadcast
Get fit now. Wait for new clubs. Pay a lot less for “ last years model”
@ he doesnt pay for the clubs
If every day started with a video like this, I would always walk around with a smile to my ears😛
Shafts make all the difference
Once you were settled on the head, surprised ni ither shaft was tested to see how much more you might be able to get out of the head.
Are you Mark Robins in disguise? 1 shaft tried is pretty biased lol.
Accra shaft for the win. No reason to try anything else once you find a good one of those. I'd have loved to see a Mizuno head on there too.
Why is it that you always get the fitting.Chris never gets a chance,or does he play with all your hand me downs.
So in the end what would that combo cost??
Accra shaft is 300ish. Driver is 650ish

Can’t waste swings trying to make a head/shaft combo work. Part of this is trusting that the fitter knows their stuff.

Should go see Sam at Golfrepairs for you, his fittings are on point, your spin rates at 3400 is not a good fitting at all for a driver
You need a lesson to get your driver swing Up on it.... You're losing at least 20 yards
Go back to school James - it's "unbiased"
I think if you're hitting a driver good why change 😊
Because you can always hit it better
It’s cheeper to adapt yourself to a driver than the driver to you. All drivers are about the same for the average/ weekend golfer work the cost around what you can afford.
If every night we had this much fun, we would never miss each other💕
Watched this video at work and now my coworkers are laughing too. A great way to lift the mood in the office🌺
