Yay!! I pretty much only use thrifted fabric for my vintage makes! It definitely adds the stress of “Will I have enough?” But I love the creativity in upcycling and the prices are a big bonus!! The blue is just gorgeous! I love the lace! It’s so beautiful!!
At first when I heard you were cutting up a quilt my gut reaction was no don't cut up a quilt! Then I saw the quilt wasn't truly a quilt. Quilts in thrift shops can be worth a large amount of money because they are super labor intensive along with the rarity and cost of fabric. Great work! Bonus points for the Dr Who shirt!💖💙
Yes! Thrifting and sewing! Say what? I have 5 quilts and miscellaneous other sheet sets picked apart ready for outfits. It was so good to seeing you creatively make use of such useful lengths of fabric. Always a challenge but beautifully done!
Such a beautiful dress. Who would have thought that curtain would be just perfect? Not me. I really must start turning those sheets, duvets and table cloths I've thrifted into the clothing I bought them for.
Oh yes! The way I see it, you get some absolutely amazing patterns in curtains, duvets, sheets and table clothes that you can’t get off the roll in the fabric stores
@@KirileeCosplay You sure can, and getting them from the thrift store reduces the cost a large amount which is especially good if you have a low income.
I love this dress. My very first sewing project was a pale blue 'pirates of the carribean' dress to wear to the second movie at gold class when I was 18. It had lace and side puffs just like this one (although no where near as nice as yours! Blue poplin lol). Who says first projects need to be simple ha ha.
It is amazing and absolutely beautiful! Who would of thought you make such a wonderful dress out of a bedspread and lace table runner. You have a fabulous imagination and way with sewing.
You know, with a bit of time and experience, I have found that I can start looking at things like this from an Op shop and see what I could turn them into :)
Fabulous job! You look beautiful in the dress, and I enjoyed watching your decision-making as you constructed it from your imagination. You’re incredibly talented! 👍🏻👏🏻
What a wonderful project and video! I love that some random strangers called you “Princess”! I’d say that underscores that you got the feel of a Disney Princess down!
I once made a period costume for a party out of curtains. It was by no way as beautiful and involved as yours, but I love the idea of using previously used material. Now on to your gown. It was so beautiful and I loved it. Thanks😊
Oh why thank you! I made those ones myself ^_^ Hahaha I honestly love PJs and I decided to stop trying to hide the fact that I do all my crafting in PJs.
I seriously love your "makings"!!!! I must confess,, The more videos I watch the more I regret all those doona cover sets I have donated to Vinnies!!!!!
Thank you so much! And aas for the donations, don't be upset! You have potentially had someone else love what you donated. Plus, it can be hard to look at an item you've owned and see it in a different light.
It turned out just perfectly. A wonderful Cinderella make, for sure. I have so many fabrics upstairs from the thrift store, I really need to figure out what to do with them. Thanks for sharing.
I love your dress!!!! The lace valence (the curtain piece) is so pretty! It really ties the whole jacquard pattern of the brocade and it really makes the whole look very elegant. There arent enough words to describe how pretty that brocade is and how impeccable the final result is. Happy Holidays Kirilee!!!
Oh. My. Gods. It's so pretty! And this will sound weird, sorry, but with every one of your videos I watch I like you more and more. Such a cool fun approach and such stunning results, awesome!
this is soo cool! i often make patchwork items out of op shop clothes, but im thinking about making a proper petticoat and skirts out of bedsheets, fingers crossed it is even remotely as cool as yours!!!
This is glorious! I love how it came together. I feel all the inspiration to go make something out of this red brocade comforter that's just lounging around doing nothing. :) What kind of zipties do you use for boning? I've seen it mentioned before but not actually put into practice. Are they just super heavy duty size?
Go for it! That sounds amazing As for the zip ties, I just get the pack with the widest and longest zip ties. Funnily enough, they do work a treat and are super easy to work with - please cheaper than boning
Absolutely love how this turned out! You had such a good eye to find those pieces and put them together. Very inspiring to give thrifting fabrics a try - but first I have a stash of fabric to get through before I run out of space completely.... LOL!
Awesome! Using thrifted fabrics means that you are creating something that once has a different life and may have quickly ended up in landfill (it is sometimes what happens with pieces that don’t sell) - and if there is t the space within the shop, they will turn other items away which may end in landfill. So you are doing a good deed!
This is so fantastic! I’ve been collecting things to make a thrifted Snow White and I just finished my thrifted pink Belle dress! Now for the not thrifted cloak
Just gorgeus!!! Love the final piece. A black choker or neclace would've finalized the cinderella look. We don't have any parties this year though so a bit sad on that
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I did try it with a black ribbon because I thought the same thing- it just looked too harsh so I decided from the neck up to take inspiration more from the live action movie :)
Get out, this is so darn fabulous! Also using zip ties as boning, you're a genius! Did you get the data back off your broken computer? Its the WORST when that stuff happens!
Thank you so much! Zip ties - easy enough to get from Bunnings when it can be difficult to source good quality synthetic whalebone. As for my computer - yes I did! Thank goodness! So I now have a backup drive with all my cosplay pictures and documents on.
@@KirileeCosplay such a good idea! And I'm glad to hear you recovered all your details! I had my laptop destroyed by water at a show last year, I had luckily backed it up a couple days before, it was stressful as though! Luckily it was covered by the event's insurance!
