I may not always have time to respond to all comments but know that I do read and appreciate them!
I love the simplicity of it. It’s beautiful and I think you really captured what Jo would have worn.
Thank you ❤️
Wow!
You did such a fabulous job! That color is just perfect for Jo, and I love the geometric details!
Thank you!! Your Amy dress is fabulous 💙
Out of all of the "Jo" dresses I have ever seen in any of the portrayals of Little Women this is my favorite! It encapsulates the character and the time period so perfectly!
Aww thank you so much Marie!
I love Jo! And your work :) thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching ❤️
Jo is a fun character.
I think you did a wonderful job and this is exactly what I pictured her in.
Also, vacation looks like it was fun.
Aww thanks! And that was a much needed vacation LOL
I loved this video! Thank you for discussing your thought process and trial and error construction. I feel validated, since I often follow this same path to get to my final destination. Good job!
Thanks, this project more than most was a lot of trial and error.
It looks wonderful!
I bet Jo would love it😁
It turned out so beautiful. 👏 you deserve a round of applause for you work, research and execution. Keep up the good work. 😊
I love how this turned out! It suits Jo and I'm obsessed with the sleeve details! I think having it not looped up works for Jo too. I'm so glad we got to do this!
Thanks! I’m really glad y’all invited me ❤️
@@DixieDIY I'm still thrilled you said yes! I think we got a really great group together!
Your dress turned out so sophisticated & classy! You make the perfect Jo March!
Thank you so much!
I really like the ribbon detail in this costume! I appreciate that you don't try to do everything by hand just because people did back in the day. Some costubers sorta lose me when they do that. I also am sups jealous of your vacation photos, and your regular day wear dress caught my attention too!
Thanks! I just don’t have the time or desire to do everything by hand, at least not long structural seams that aren’t visible from the outside.
@@DixieDIY Most def. Time is not infinite. I
Oh this is just gorgeous!! Well done! And thank you for sharing the bits that didn’t work out. 🥰❤️🌸🌺🇦🇺😎
Lovely! I love the ribbon work. I'm working on an elliptical skirt myself, but from about 40 years later. The right pattern is hard to find, sometimes. And by sometimes, I mean every time a new dress catches your eye. Beautiful work!
Thank you! I haven’t done that era yet but I hope you find the right pattern
The PNW!! My home sweet home. I'm glad you got a chance to visit. I love the dress! Such inspiration, I'm close to getting to sew once again
I’ve been in the area a few times but this was my first trip to the coast and the mountains. It’s beautiful up there. Good luck with your sewing!
@@DixieDIY the mountains are the reason I came back. :-)
What a graceful dress you ended up with! I loved watching the process
Thank you 😊
For all the trouble, this turned out lovely
It turned out perfect! So gorgeous
Thank you!
Dixie, love this dress and video! you did an amazing job! and I love your Alice Roosevelt dress videos too! you're very talented.
I can 100% relate to having to alter sleeves and shoulders on patterns. I have completely strait shoulders, so I have to always add to both the sleeves and the bodice pieces. my mother has one sloped and one strait, so she has to adjust for asymmetry quite often.
Sounds like you have the exact reverse problem that I do! Once I learned I often needed to make that adjustment it really upped my sewing skills.
I saw you on Laura's Little Women blog. Oh, how I wish I had the same level of confidence that you possess in clothing construction! I'm slow when I sew. Aiming for more practice!
Aaaah, it looks so good! I feel the same way as you about the 1860's...never really appealed to me because of the Civil War. It's nice to see some designs from later in the decade!
Also...this is dumb, but I was today years old when I realized one could make one's own ironing board cover 🤣🤯
Thanks! I made the last board cover, too. It lasted probably five years.
Very pretty! Well done!
It turned out so fantastic! I love it
Thanks!!
I always wondered what that outfit would have looked like! (A train in the city?!?) So thank you sooooo much. I love this video!
this is so great, dixie! you nailed it--jo would have loved that dress!!
Thanks 😊
Oh wow, I have sloped shoulders too and am super intrigued by your discussion of sloped shoulders and wrinkly sleeves. I recently made a tailored coat, and while the sleeve caps look reasonably smooth on the hanger, as soon as I wear the coat they're super puckered. I assumed I'd just done a poor job of setting them (which I have certainly been known to do!), and it never occurred to me that it might be a fit issue! I can't wait to try to address this on my next project.
Also, the outfit looks amazing! 1860s fashion is also generally not my favourite, but I totally agree that the slightly raised waistline and elongated skirt silhouette is super cute.
Thanks! Have you thought of adding shoulder pads to your coat to adjust for the sloped shoulders? Or would that not work with the style? Once I figured out my shoulder fit problem I noticed it in so many patterns I used.
I am so in love with this dress! It's even more exquisite in person. Like you I wasn't overly familiar with the late 1860's style but now, thanks to you I am dreaming of creating this silhouette. It truly was perfect for Jo. Bravo!!!
Lovely. Pretty but not overly fussy.
girl making the same mistakes sewing with stupid socks super funny barefoot sewing the best way
