This was a terrific review of a fantastic vehicle. I Purchased the '17 R line in Grey Metallic with black interior back in Nov of '16 while stationed in Germany and put 17k miles on it in 8 months.. I know thats a lot but the point is this car is built to enjoy while driving, and you can't beat the fuel economy! I have now had it for 15 months and still enjoy it as much as the day I picked her up at the port. I will purchase another VW in the future!

I bought the 2017 Passat SE in Gray with the lighting package because of this video. It was a left over new car that a local dealership had that was deeply discounted ($22K instead of $29K) Great car...wish it was a bit smaller without becoming a Jetta though.

I’ve had the Passat for bout a year and I love it. Didn’t get the r line or the the lighting package because it just didn’t seem that useful to me and it was cheaper without it. But I do like the rims of the r line and the lighting package. The Passat is a great car and you get ALOT for the money unlike other cars who charge extra for everything.

Christian Norton · I have bought a used 2017 VW Passat S with 59,760 miles. I have pumped 98 octane ever since i started the monthly payments in Nov of 2020. In my opinion. Yes the 98 octane gas lasts longer in the tank. So it will allow you to make more miles to the gallon in the long run. Also. Always try to have 3/4 of a tank full. The car performs great. You can tell the difference. I could !!
Remember one thing. if you started out using 89 octane and suddenly you start using 98. It will probably take about 3 fill ups till you feel the difference. It's got to clear the 89 octane from the fuel lines. Good luck. Keep a watchful eye on the engine timing chain. Have it checked. They are supposed to be checked and or changed around 50,000 - 59,000. It will Depends on the wear of all the hard plastic parts supporting and guiding the timing chain.

Hey all, We just bought our 1st VW yesterday.. We got the R-Line Passat. It is the Dark Grey with Black interior.. I Absolutely LOVE it.. We got this for me to drive because my SUV wasn't getting good gas mileage... We are getting the windows tinted by the dealership and getting a sun roof put in... We got a great price on our purchase.. I am excited to drive this car... It is absolutely a gorgeous car....

Damn thing snatches when you hit the throttle doesnt it lol. I ended up getting a pretty bare bones R-Line. The seats arent all fancy like in this video. Everything is strictly business. Such a rigid ride too...geesh. I call myself looking for a nice tuner wheel but if the 19s are riding like this then no thanks.
Think a sub and epicenter will help out my system tho.

I really wish they will finally update those terrible flat seats and bring back the rear vents on lower trims... if you have a baby in the back, the weak VW A/C or heat takes forever to heat up the huge rear. Come on VW, get it together, you're losing lifetime VW buyers.
You guys should really start telling people that the car runs better and more powerful with Premium gas. Why would you buy a Turbo engine and then use lower octane gasoline to lower its power and torque? If you take this car to Europe, you won't find gasoline under 95 octane. All turbo engines love a quick spark, I have and never will use 87 gas in any of my cars.

Since then, I've had Touareg (no problems!) and now an R-Line shown here. Lol, the North American Passat is less premium than the Euro version, (which we get as the Arteon) and while it may have a few inconsequential bits shared with some lower end Audi models...there is zero Porsche, and certainly no Bugatti or Lambo🙈😂😂 I mean dont get me wrong, it's a nice car and good value (or was when it was still sold) but even at the time didnt compare very well with the Honda Accord, Mazda 6 or even the Camry in some ways. I would choose it over something like the Chevy Malibu or fugly Subaru Legacy, but thats about it.
