You could have mention that the pistol got the best hipfire among all weapons, so in a realive short range you should use it without aiming. So you are much more mobile and also decrease the reload time a bit.
@@stankobarabata2406 The blunderbuss takes a fair bit longer to reload and has less range. Sure, you'll get more damage up close, but the consistency of the pistol whether you're point blank or pretty far away is what makes it so good.

Every moment spent reloading is a moment you can't be on the offensive or defensive. Fire a bit too late and you might not get the kill. It's almost like despite the implied short range nature of the blunderbuss, that's still a very real weakness it has. Crazy thought but maybe it's also no less important that the eye of reach is good at sniping, while being a sniper. In a game where the meta weapon setup is using two single shot guns, one of which is a long rifle, for close range combat, names alone don't tell you shit. This might come as a shock to you, but sometimes being condescending isn't the best option.
@@stankobarabata2406 Those players you mentioned that are gods with the sniper are the exact reason why people go sniper blunder. If they don't one shot you with blunder, they quickscope you trying to heal, and if you're trying to rush them, they catch you with the sniper coming in. It's not meant to be a close range weapon but if you're good with it it's one of the best. It's main weakness is that it's slower than most other weapons because you have the delay of scoping in to quickscope which leaves you vulnerable, but if you're good at predicting movement it doesn't matter. The only true downside of double gunning, no matter which guns you're using, is ammo. But like you said, most combat is while boarding or being boarded, where there's an ammo crate close by at all times. Any weapon is good if you're good at using it, but a good double gunner beats out any equal skill sword user at least 70% of the time.
The bullet always fires out of the exact center of the screen, but the viewmodel for each weapon is vastly different, creating these offsets, in case anyone was wondering.
I'm annoyed by the fact that I would love to engage in this pvp and get good at it but I genuinely freak out when it starts and idk why. Like, I've had a boat with nothing on it and sailed straight into the other person and I was still shaking and unable to do anything of worth. Like how normally as you focus your perception of things slows down, mine speeds up. And it's not even the threat itself. I flunked an attack where there was just one guy and I snuck up on him because knowing I had to fight made me shaky and I missed shots on a stationary, anchored ship. I lost that fight.

Sea dog pistol is usually a accurate freebie, I've noticed that aside from the bulbous end on the warsmith pistol recently released seems to hit pretty accurate where there is a tapered point on top.
I’m sure someone else has probably commented this, but it looks like the bone crusher is aligned with the bottom of that divot on the top. So it does have a sight, it’s just a little wonky
Bonus pro tip: with the double gun sprint cancel you can cancel youre sword after 2 swings, switch to the pistol and get an ez hit because the enemy is stuned from the sword hits. Fast combo to kill a full hp player. Kinda tricky but if youre good with the sprint cancel it should be ez
Aah, this reminds me of one time my friends and I were on a brig, and I showed off by 3-shotting a boarder with the pistol. I use the Pistol of the damned, and it almost has an invisible iron sights, which makes aiming it soo fun
I use the Kraken and Inky Kraken pistols, they are pretty good. Also, the Wild Rose Flintlock has a good iron-sight and looks cool imo, but it fires a tiny little low.

I actually really like the bone crusher pistol. Once you know where the bullet comes out. I actually find it easier to line up than any of the ones without any iron site
If you want a cheap pistol with good aim get the sea dog pistol. The top has a ridge which can act like an iron sight while you save up to buy one with a proper sight.
I've found that any Kraken set for both the pistol and the blunderbuss have very good iron sights built into it because it is lower than the one that you recommended but still a good shot Edit: grammer
i respect the flintlock but i just can't part with the blunderbuss, the ability to knock people back, the ability to make it so you only need 1 sword slash if you're lucky, the ability to kill an entire galleon if they're not paying attention (or deaf), it feels fantastic. Water is a different story but some of the time hitboxes are jank enough to save me.
Hip fire is easy with the pistol you don't have to aim because it's cantered on the middle of the screen as long as your target is directly in the middle you don't have to aim to hit it .
I try to play with the pistol because I like how flexible it is, but I can never hit with it in no small part due to having a much higher sensitivity in SoT than other games. So when PvP starts getting kinda serious I've gotta switch to blunder
Personally I really like the sword/pistol fighting style over double gunning and quick scoping. It makes more sense to use them and it doesn't feel like cheese.
just use the settings that work for you. in general, low sensitivity is good for casual play, go high sensitivity if you plan on playing for a long time and getting that muscle memory down. but the #1 best tip for using guns that i never see streamers mention is: tape a reticle to the center of your TV/computer monitor. you will instantly get way better.
@@Voidova yeah i guess but it's an instant advantage. if there are tournaments and stuff (idk if there are) i would guarantee that most people have a reticule. such an easy fix for a game without one. and no way all those pro quick-scopers just memorized the middle of their screens.

U can spam reload the gun too by double click weapon change. Its like the magical of sot. U go faster with the sail up wind. U reload faster by double change weapon. PS hip fire of the gun are not to bad to use also as the bullet go just slightly up or down. .. at least that As the case last time I played. ;/

If the skins cause the gun to behave differently then it's not cosmetic and some skins have an advantage over others. Does that not run counter to what the devs want for the game?

My crew encouraged me to get the mercenary as well for my first. Still don't like the color that is why I use the ebony.
I bought the Mercenary as a temporary when grinding for the royal sovereigns. I'm still using it just for the sights.
I bought it because it looked nice and then Noticed the Iron sights as a neat extra

I love Sea of thieves PvP because it is so unique compared to other games. It seems simple on the surface but at the same time requires a lot of skill
I Love it because depends 100% of your skills and not an upgraded damage or some like almost every game.

I personally use the sea dog pistol because the barrel is octagonal and has a point on top that is perfectly in line with your shots.
There like five versions of the Ebon pistol, Ebon, Mercenary, Aristocrat, Cultured Aristocrat, and Silverblade.

it is not the best pistol model tho. Sea Dog is the one. Tribute peak is also better but nobody uses except me I think.

The Bone Crusher appears to be aligned with the divot, the second piece of the iron sight.
For the skin there's also the gold hoarders pistol that also has a pretty good sight
