  • Since the world is obsessed with making New Year Resolutions, how about we revaluate our mindset towards chess improvement too? My students seemed be getting a lot out these tips about using lichess to improve their chess, so I thought I'd share them with you too! Hope you guys can take something from this (as always), and happy training!

I should add - if you're a stronger player watching this video, you can definitely do the same, but with a more extensive repertoire. Each chapter as an important variation of the opening, and if the study is too large as it is, you can create a separate study for "games". So if you were playing the Caro Kann, you could have two studies called "Caro Kann (theory)" and "Caro Kann (games)" - and continue building your lines + understanding from there! Hope that helps :)

Thank you so much for sharing this! I really learned a lot about how to effectively use the Study feature to improve my game. It is exactly what I needed. Keep up the great work!

Thank you. That was very helpful figuring out which tab buttons to press for comments and move notations.

I love the presentation and advice in this video, thank you :) I’ve kinda been using studies in the wrong way and have wasted way too much time on making ineffective ones, but this helped me understand what I should do ❤

Really great advice - playing just a few games in a row and then analyzing them is like a sweet spot between playing without learning on one hand and interrupting play before any flow can set in on the other.
I think if one can maintain this approach with some discipline it really can prevent tilt and also help with staying mentally present during the games.

Any video on how to efficiently learn using lichess is a good video. Best advice for new students: puzzle racer and puzzle storm. Don play to race, play to learn. Try to get them all right but no big deal if you don't. For the first year you don't even need to try to figure out what you did wrong because your natural thought process will figure it out. The idea is you can't see all the pieces on the board until you spend a few hundred hours doing puzzles.

Little bit confusing. I think you should script what you want to say to make it more focused.

Great idea for a video, but instructions unclear, especially for those of us not that familiar with Lichess
