this is a high-quality video, i hope you post more video essay-esque stuff like this -- it'd be cool if you did something about becoming a better calculator, like maybe a mental checklist for how you find tactics in puzzles or something
The editing on this video is incredible, how long do these take you? Do you have to go through like every single clip because it is so well made. This is why you’re my favourite chess youtuber Will
Thank you so much! This video did take about 70 years to make because, as you said, I had to individually make all those slides plus script the whole thing. I just wanted to see what I could produce if I put loads of effort into just one video and focused mainly on yt shorts while I was doing that to keep the channel growing. I really appreciate your support man, thank you for the kind words!
Hey man, just wanna let you know that this is one of the most helpful chess videos I've ever watched. And we appreciate the hardowrk and effort you've put into this video.
Great video. I have also found "the dark forest" analogy very useful. I'm not sure if you know the song A Forest by The Cure, but a while ago I started playing that on a loop while playing online games. It helped me remember Tal's quote. It didn't change my ELO much online, but since doing it I have been getting a lot of wins at the club. I'm not sure if it is the song distracting other club members or the fact that I have started to physically resemble Robert Smith that has caused my sudden surge in ratings, doesn't matter as a win is a win! Anyway., great tips. Thanks
Hey will, I have never commented in a RUclips video but I just wanted anted to say that your content is amazing, I fuck with your music, and these teaching videos are gold. Thanks man.
dude i just came across your channel like 2 or 3 days ago and bro 😎 i’m only 850 elo and i play for fun, don’t really study anything but i watch a lot of chess videos and you are WAY up there for me now. awesome content, great shorts, bangers on the shorts, awesome play style for someone like me who wants to just be kinda wild and have fun when i play. keep it up man!
i have a question "i didnt see the video yet" but how we can study an opening while we could have so many many answers, for example, i try to discover the sisilian defense, 'I am 1200-1300 player" but its so weird, we have so many answers with white than almost nobody follows the main line, the D4 third move that attacks the center with a second pawn, its clearly impossible that someone will play it, i mean with my little experience... Thank u for reading and maybee answering.. have a good day
Well the way you explained, this is what i was looking for actually.. niw because I watched this video complete, i got my roadmap how to make it in chess. Well I'd like to hear from you more in this series brother. I actually wanna be a chess master
Hi, at 15:12 you said to create a new study I don't know how to get to this window can you show me how to get to this window thank you. When you click on the mouse you press the Ctrl and this will be registered with a circle. Thank you
Fantastic video mate. Loved the humorous, yet helpful forest metaphor at the start and overall I thought you structured the video really well. I can tell you put a lot of effort into this and, don't get me wrong - I love your shorts - but this is the kinda hidden gem chess content I really look for on youtube; instructive and important with a quality google slides presentation and no waffling involved! 😂 Also, this might be the first ever youtube sponsorship that I actually decide to use. Seriously tho, keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing more masterpieces of yours should they come out! 😉
Hey man! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know how much you enjoyed, I really appreciate your kind words. The shorts, to me, are a way to have a bit of fun and grow my channel but videos like these are what I put a lot of time and effort into. Thanks for your support ❤️
@@willtaylorchess No problem mate, I've actually started using ChessBook and it's super useful for not only learning variations but also overall opening plans too. Love the content, love the sponsorship. That's a sub from me. ❤️Keep up the grind dude and you'll go far 💪
Some may say you overused the forest metaphor, but I found it very useful in gaining a new perspective on what opening theory is useful for; in particular, the line about looking at the surroundings instead of staring at the floor. Cheers 🐐 chess RUclipsr
The green animation on the pyramid of principles alone was enough to warrant a subscription. Excellent work! Excited to check the rest of your channel out. The shorts caught my curiosity, this video got my attention!
Aight, I subscribe bcoz of the powerpoint presentation alone🗿. Jk, I subscribe bcoz this video is so entertaining to watch😂🔥And i love chess so why not right? I lookin' forward to all the contents from now on❤
Great video and edit work! I love seeing you trying out a new format. For your next longer video I'd recommend talking a bit slower. The pase for a 25m video is high. But props for articulating so well. :) (Edit: I'll use 0,75x speed next time)
High quality, absolute masterclass

I watched a video that put chess masters on the spectrum before but it weren’t that spectrum. This one’s far more educational cheers 🐐
Appreciate it, cheers mate. I have to credit Lev Albert’s ‘chess openings for black explained’ for the inspiration fr 🤩
