The 48 class was the classic and best yard shunting loco, didn't like diesel hydraulic 73's with that throttle system. The good old days Barrie, you'd get the sack these days for gravity or loose shunting OH&S seen to that. Great to see the old fashioned hand signals, "shunt by radio" still away off. The best part of a shift doing shunts at Central was the tasty and great "Railway Pie" from the concourse shop, another part of our railway history fallen by the wayside. Hope you have done a piece on the hustle and bustle plus banter inside the Guards Foreman's office at Central? Great memories there, thanks again Barrie, another winner!
Hi Dave, yeah the loose shunt looks so alien now after not seeing it for so many years. I agree about the railway pie, although that culture of grabbing a bite still exists with CJs Takeaway on Eddy Ave, that's where the cool gang hangs out now.😊 Any footage from the guards office that I may have would have to be highly censored now for language and political correctness ("laughing but secretly crying"). The nick names and stories that I remember would get me banned on YT lol. Thanks for sharing.

@@dieseldavetrains8988 and I wouldn't of changed it for anything. Some great old school Gaurds, one who was a great mentor to me was Patrick "Leo" Woods, learnt some great nick names and insults from that guy.
