    Hi you have had a lovely display of flowers on your Agapanthus, none of my large tender plants have flowered only my small hardy plants. Some of the large plants have got half the pot filled with roots. What would be the best time to repot them. Thanks in advance

      Hi Dave Colston, agapanthus can be a bit unpredictable when it comes to flowers. Well fed plants don’t seem to flower as readily as ones that are ‘starved’ a bit. Also if they have lots of space in the pot to grow they tend not to flower. This time of year is a good place to pot on, only once the plant is really quite pot bound and always into a pot only slightly larger. After flowering I always give mine a bit of slow release fertiliser and then again in spring when they start to grow again. I hope this answers your question. All the best Robbie 🌻

      @@benneb663 so sorry for the late reply, found a bit of clarity at last! I took on my nursery 7 years ago after a couple of nervous breakdowns in 2006 (6 months of work) and 2008 (2 f ing years signed off!) I was an electrician, had 6 staff and 4 vans but the stress made me really ill. Had shit loads of different pills over a year or so but didn’t really find anything that worked. When I first started doing something about my depression in 2006 I saw a therapist, for me this worked much better than the pills. Gotta find the right therapist for you though, it’s important that you have respect for them. I still see him now and again to keep me on track, for me it’s all about small different things, like seeing a therapist once a month, eating well (very important) and sleeping/being active, you know, it’s more of a holistic thing. It doesn’t stop the madness but, it keeps it under control. I’m a bit too far past thinking that I’m going to find some pill or walk out of a therapy session one day and it’s all going to be ok, it’s , for me, all about managing it. Soo, the nursery seemed like the best idea, I love growing stuff, it’s good for my mental health, but, oh my lord!!! It’s the hardest thing I’ve done in my life, mentally, emotionally, financially, it’s really fucking tough my friend, but, I think, worth it🌸🌹still haven’t done a post mental health this year yet! Procrastinating! I know the signs! Actually did a vid a year ago about warning signs, I’ll repost it. Take the best of care and the best of luck with all you aspire to be, Robbie 🌻

    A question on Cyclamen. . . . . Now that I've potted up a couple thousand cyclamen that I raised in seed flats (1 to 2 years old), I'm wondering whether it might have been beneficial to trim some of the longer roots to encourage branching of the root structure. Have you experimented with root pruning when transferring a cyclamen to a new pot? Thanks in advance for your reply. I still have several hundred more to pot up.

      Hi Kenneth, I’ve not root trimmed with cyclamen before, i do with a lot of other plants. I’ll give it a go with a few but, I’m afraid to say, I’m a bit more on the side of nature knowing best. I hope this was of some help, thanks for the idea, I feel an experiment coming on!! All the best Robbie 🌻

    Is there a best time to split an agapanthus?

    With the seeds, can I take them off those stems you cut off and leave to dry out?

    • @kathrynr6660
      @kathrynr6660 Год назад

      Yes. I did. Put them in a paper bag, not plastic, so they can breathe but dry out completely. When dry they will crack or burst open. Rub them around in your hand to get the seeds out and voila, ready to plant.
