      Hi blessed chef Lim, they grow naturally in South Africa so have evolved in a place where there are seasonal differences. Saying that they really don’t mind the heat so I’d say they would be fine, just may get a bit confused if you don’t get much seasonal differences where you are. I hope this helps Robbie 🌻

    Hi great info..
    I have an agapanthus in the border it’s quite large flowers fine but noticed this year that the centre of the plant is showing a large
    Crown off root and the leaves all grow around the outside. The plant in tough and very dense. Should I cut this root ball out, divide and re plant
    All the outside towards the centre where the root ball was?
    Many thanks....

    It is April in Ireland - can I split mine now, or best to wait until Autumn? Also, will they flower the first year after splitting?

    • @stinkyditchnursery750
      @stinkyditchnursery750  4 года назад +3

      Guy Richhill sorry for such a late reply, I always like to split plants whilst they are still in their growing season as the wound will heal more quickly, I’d do it now, but as to whether or not they will flower this year, who knows? Nature can be very unpredictable, maybe no flowers, maybe more than ever before! All the best and stay safe Robbie

      Doogarry House 2 people from Ireland with the same question about agapanthus! Sorry for such a late reply, the world of online plant sales just got very busy. I’m gonna be dividing some agapanthus myself next week, during the growing season it heals quicker. Whether they flower this year is anyone’s guess, maybe, maybe not. But in answer to your question, I’m my opinion, no it’s not too late, hope this helps Robbie

    Hi. I have some Agapanthus that have been in the garden. I want to move them into pots. Because they've been in the garden the roots have really spread out which means they are too big to go into my pot (I want to put three in a large pot). Can I just chop the roots down to a more manageable size, and then leave them for a week (as you suggest for splitting)? Thank you. I love watching your channel!

    • @stinkyditchnursery750
      @stinkyditchnursery750  3 года назад

      Hi Rose Ellen Cobb, agapanthus are such tough plants. Lifting them from the ground and planting in pots is fine. I’d wait for a few weeks until active growth can be seen happening. This means any wounds caused will heal quickly, preventing any infection getting in the plant. I hope this helps, best of luck Robbie 🌻

      @stinkyditchnursery750  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@elainecoley-evans6393 don’t be scared of doing anything wrong, growing stuff is supposed to be relaxing! Any pot will be fine. Aggies like a bit of root restriction to flower, they grow mainly in rocky environments. If your plant is pot bound and really filling the pot then slice it down the middle and pot them into pots the same size as the mother plant. You will need a sandy mix, but if it isn’t bursting out of the pot it’s probably going to be ok for another year. I hope this helps, Robbie 🌻
