Hiya, I dont normally read other comments & I am not sure why I scrolled down. If you negative people dont like what you see just leave it as Westy blanking, this wonderful hobby or pastime or sport whatever you want to call it is called fishing not catching. The football analogy is spot on. Westy this is a top video of you fishing. Well done mate & thank you for trying & teaching me.
It's funny because him catching that barbel will give you the confidence and determination to get one. I am thinking of getting down but with the lure rod . So many shoal fish got to be some big perch in the area. Weedless ned rig or something I feel I could have them .
Great video as always. Your enthusiasm for fishing is infectious. I got back into fishing after 18 years because of people like you. Can't wait to try river fishing.
Loved this video and can't wait for the next installment mate. It shows it's not only me that blanks 😁 I think you could do with fitting a pair of cheap ice cleats on your waders to save you from your next unplanned swim on muddy banks 😆Mine have saved me from a 'dunking' more times than I care to remember👍
Hiya westy that stretch of the ribble is more known for its pike fishing to be honest. The best place for barbel is near the bridge at the start of the footpath. If not the tickled trout and some halibut pellets is your best bet
Nice video , I've done well with long hook lengths down there were its more pressured in the day , and having a good bow in the line to pin it to the bed ! Tho you need a clean area . Like you say most come out in the dark tho.
@WestysAngling , probably the big loop of line which pins it to the deck stops them spooking, you get drop back bites , also a second rod on straight lead cast a good few meters down from feeder if they are backing off ! Trial n error I suppose, it' can be a pressured place so little things can bring fish.
hi mate ive always struggled catching during autumn (apart from pike) no matter what bait i try worms maggots sweetcorn nothing works and im only fishing for f1s bream roach rudd chub perch but i always seem to struggle
You’ll get your rewards eventually matey and it’ll be great! Can’t beat a day on the river even with a blank! Top video as always! 🎣🎣🎣
Great video Westy. It's not always about catching, just being out with nature and the fresh air is good for the soul. Good luck!
I truly couldn't agree with you more. Catching is the bonus.

Legend ! Thanks you your support as always Barry 🎣
Keep going Westy , keep the faith mate and it will happen for you. I love the slip at the start of the video 🤣
Fair play to you mate, others would be scared of looking like they don’t know what they are doing. We all know you do 💪🏻
keep at it mat...buddy it will all come together ...and that slip was a classic!.....🤣..tight lines.....
😂😂

It definitely did ! I love to see that they are coming out, local knowledge is everything with river fishing, that and a good dose of luck 😂🎣

Great video Westy !! Sending you loads of luck !! I know you'll get a barbel eventually mate!! 👍🏻
I don’t give up easily 😂 not had much luck timing the conditions this year !
at least you know there is definitely Barbel in the river, looking forward to the next one
100% mate ! It’s not packed with them but they are definitely in there 💪🏻🎣
better than thinking they don’t exist in it 🤣
Another cracking video and pleased that you show that it's ok to blank. And next time don't forget ya westys towel!!!!! Keeeeep fishin
Cracking video Westy, I'm pleased it happens to best as well! lol
At least your out there giving it a go. Nice barble from the other angler 👍

Lovely video pal was a bit worried for you on the bank there 🥺
2 or 3 rods might up your chances
Nice video been trying to catch a my first barble on the stour this year but blanked every time😅

Keep going westy 💪🏻🎣
I fish up at Samelsbury, use the Korum running rig, Korum river hook lengths and 14mm Severn Valley Ambush pellets..
Tight lines😊
Invest in a pair of crampons, invaluable bit of kit for dodgy riverbanks 🖖
Ive jad barbel from tickled trout and woodcutter stretch.

People are telling me 2ft hook lengths are best on the Ribble, hard to know which is optimal. I suppose if you are on them you would catch both ways.

What was the point in the 1ft of braid? Just fish the straight 3ft mono to ye hook, braids not needed mate👍
The finial section is supple giving the bait more natural movement
Try it without, you will thank me it’s definitely not needed had them up to 17lb on the Trent 👍
@jamieheron9751 it’s probably not mate I’m just playing around with things 👌🏻
4:50 It's okay nobody saw you!
We're you on today ? (29th) if you were so was i and I caught nothing ... I was also going for barbel
The videos are filmed weeks in advance 👌🏻
Is that day ticket?
It’s free
@WestysAngling many thanks. I'll further research exact location etc .
Why not put the bait directly on the hook?
You can with soft naturals like meat and worms as you can strike through them. But either way hard hookbaits you need the point clear 👌🏻
I like to dredge Meat in "Chinese 5 spice powder".
That hook length needs scaling down mate
hellou Westy my old frriend...
A Short Session using a Spicy Sausage Sinker to catch a Big Bibble Barbel
It’s called fishing not catching
Why post if you don’t catch. Waste of time
It’s called fishing mate, can’t bag up every day especially not on the Ribble
I understand it may not be for everyone, but think of it as learning with me, trial and error 👌🏻
@@WestysAngling spot on... still watch a footy match if it's 0-0
Because that’s a part of fishing mate I personally think it’s good as it shows you’re not always guaranteed to catch.
I think it’s just be honest mate 🎣
Awful body cam footage and no barbel apart from what Father Xmas caught!
Hahaha he has pinned your negative comment 😂 I bet you have loads of mates … not
