I dragged several of my friends into Overwatch months ago for competitive and I'd definitely say it's easier for all of us to win games with proper synergy and team comps! As a flanker/DPS main, it's definitely easier for my friends to know when to go in with me/ for me to know when my healer is attacked. It's generally much smoother and more fun to play :D Dat awkward Discord channel silence when you thought Hanzo didn't have ultimate and told the whole team to push forward tho :O
I know you said detestably, but Zen's ult is pretty much for shutting down other character's ults. It is its main use, and can be negated by communicating and trying to focus him down and either kill him, or make him pop his ult prematurely. Its counter is communication, and I feel it's necessary since ALL of the ults it counters are ones that could potentially wipe an entire team.
or McCree's or junkrat ult or a nano boosted ulting genji (believe it or not) then there are non-ulting examples widowmaker headshot ana presses E reinhardt dash enviromental kills
Conspiracyman I said every one it counters is one that could potentially wipe an entire team, not that every ult that can wipe teams is countered by it. The point of my post was to show that Zen's ult wasn't OP, if nothing else you've just further cemented that point.
This is my fav vid from this channel in a while. Commentating over gameplay like this rly helps me get these strats. I wouldn't be opposed to more like this.
Really useful breaking down an actual game with the game play in the background. It gives some context as to what you're talking about and therefore is easier to understand for someone like myself who is a visual and kinaesthetic learner Thanks for the vid guys!
In a video called "what is a dive comp" I was hoping for a bit more theoratical stuff. For example counters and response, (un)favourable maps or, if it exists, a variant which is more reliable in soloQ when there's less communication. Sure it nice is to see how a dive coml works in practice, but I think that deserves it's own video €0.02
I really like this style of video. Seeing all of the information I've read or watched about strategy, tactic, etc. is remarkably helpful. I hope to see some more videos like this!
This kind of video is sweet! Please continue to make such commentary on team and game dynamics with such well illustrated in-game examples. It raised my awareness.
you guys have helped me maximize my small pockets of playtime as well as have more fun playing as a team with randoms!!! Thanks for taking the time to break all of this down you guys rock!
Hey, please keep making videos about comps and about comp meta! This video was so great I manage to convince some friends that had stopped with Overwatch to come back and we are now practicing this comp! Thank you very much! You guys are great!
I love these kind of videos, this kind of coordination is essential to overwatch play and not enough people, including myself, know efficient pushing strategies and defences. These kind of videos let us see exactly how higher level players are thinking. More please!
"why hello there!" (mercy quote lol). im just here on randomness, since i found your video by accident. however, i really REALLY enjoyed you telling what is going on during the match. even though most of us watching have a general idea of what's up, it was much better having someone explain what is happening at all times. you explained it all clearly and im sure everyone understood too. but yea, im gonna start watching more of your stuff man, it's actually good. so, good luck out there in the overwatch world :D
I think this type of video is great. I don't play anymore since I'm out of a PS4, but I still like watching tournaments and this helps me appreciate what's going on in them.
very good video, please post more like these. I think its the thought process/strategy that people need to learn (myself included) from those who are more experienced. Mechanics can be self taught and will grow over time. thanks for taking the time to make these, keep up the great work
yeah, this is great, love the format, and i think it will help a lot of people get better at the game. please make some more like this, and thanks for making the videos in the first place.
I really like these types of videos. Specifically pointing out where you may have screwed up. When you play console watching your games is not very easy so I find it hard to critically analyze my mistakes.
I really like vids about advanced gameplay like this, as opposed to the usual videos that are a bit more towards teaching the basics. I definitely want to see more!
These types of strategy videos are fantastic. Being someone who plays mostly solo-queue, i've noticed this type of comp tends to be a bit more agreeable with other players on your team as well.
love your guys' channel. great information combined with great game play and variety with the three of you. also really enjoy the side notes you guys put at bottom of screen critiquing your own play to help us see when mistakes happen. I recommend you guys to my group of friends and they now watch all your videos. keep it up!
I'd love to see more videos like this with a play-by-play explanation of your strategy! I'd also love to see ones where you point out things that went wrong (which you did in this video), even though I'm sure that opens you up to a lot of hate. just seeing a really bad gameplay with some rundown on what you can do in that situation to fix it would be awesome, cuz I often find myself in the position of scrabbling to turn a game around as a support main in solo queue... and some real gameplay examples on how and when to switch would be cool too, although I know all of this requires getting the perfect footage... anyway, great video! keep up the good work
I like these types of vids because they aren't the same content spewed out by every OW channel on YT. Seems like every blue post prompts the same vid from 20 different channels. Thumbs up.
Really liked this video, I've been trying to teach my friends that just got the game but it's hard without good examples and breakdowns. Keep em coming!
I like this type of video which explains a lot of details valuable to better gameplay. I'd also appreciate more basic coverage like explaining what a 2/2/2 comp is and why it is preferred.
Damn thats some good knowledge I really enjoyed this video it definitely teaches a lot of people who solo queue to play as a team. Unfortunately there are far too many people without a mic making this difficult without at least a 5 man party. Great video though keep it up
On certain maps pro teams have done so on defense, it requires to allow the enemy team to push into an area and coordinating the dive into a certain part of map geography that is beneficial for the defense. It is risky, as you can't really afford to trade 1:1 on defense, but the mobility of such a comp is great for hunting down key targets, so yes, it can work sometimes. -F
This type of vid is great! Loved this one! :D Would be cool if you made one like this focusing on the different roles in teams/comps. For example, as a support what should you expect from the others in the team, and what should they expect from you. And showing with and example and narrating like this.. Keep it up! :D
this type of content is awesome!! I wouldn't mind you putting out more videos of the same concept (dive comp) but just seeing how it plays out in different maps with different heroes :)
Just throwing this out there, I really like this video format and would love to see more match by match examples of how to play well and utilize synergy between characters.
I wish I could find a group to run with cause you're right, it's close to impossible to find a good team comp when solo queing. Gotta love those Reaper players screaming at the groups because no one will play a healer haha
Excellent video, would love to see more of this! Watching gameplay and having each scenario explained is interesting, educational and efficient. Superb!
Very nice and informative video. Seems like we're seeing Winston more in competitive settings. Can you make a guide on Winston explaining what's his role, when to engage, when to disengage and heroes that works well with Winston in a competitive setting?
Every new Overwatch player should be required to spend at least an hour on your channel before they are allowed to queue. To answer your question, yes. Videos like this are extremely helpful, and make players who are playing correctly feel better about our efforts ;)
I really like gameplay situations because I'm really new and people that just don't know when/where/how to group. I'd also like to hear more break down on more comps or even just basics for comps. Thanks guys!
+ayyell bow down to me pleb dw, I was stuck there for most of season 1 and it's a Reaper/76/Hanzo cluster fuck with a bit of offence Bastion for good luck -_-
You should do a vid on how to counter a dive comp. And maybe even in every vid where you go into specifics like this one, you can talk about the pros and cons of a certain strat or character or whatever.
I love playing D.va in dive comps. I'm much more useful as her than as Winston. She's great for Zarya ult combos, blocking/absorbing tons of different ults, and chasing down low HP chars to secure the kill.
one of the most irritating team comps in the game is rein + bastion + mercy, and lately i've seen a significant increase in people utilizing it. do you have any tips on countering?
Tneal78 k but what if they're defending on anubis? i know bastion is a bad hero but that's not the point. i'm just saying sometimes it can be impossible to get in there without getting completely shredded. neither tracer nor reaper can flank without being spotted, and even if you manage to use pulse bomb reinhardt can block it easily, allowing him to protect whoever else wasn't stuck and basically just continue to suck the fun out of the game for another five minutes.
"I don't want to play it in the selfish, baity, everyone picks dps way." I agree. I tend to gravitate towards support or tanks coming from a background in MMOs; there is so much more to the game then just headshots and raw, mechanical aiming skill. Things like being aware of los to your healer would come naturally to me. There are elements of strategy in fps games, but I wonder how obvious all these sorts of abilities and strategies more commonly seen in MMOs and mobas would be to those coming from a purely fps background. After all, they would be far more likely to select the dps characters, since many are closer to characters from fps games. Since so many in the community come from an fps background, I think they need some sort of guide catered to their perspective that explains what might not be obvious (grouping, why you need tanks and support, importance of los to your healer, dps should protect the healers, dps should focus enemy healers, counter picking like in mobas, etc.) I think it would be helpful for newer players.
"This is actually what grouping up looks like..."
Cool, glad I got to see that once in my life.
ye p XD
Also, we're live on Twitch as this video goes live! www.twitch.tv/youroverwatch
what is your outro song?
awesome vid man thanks!!
im loving this type of vids
+TrueLegacyTV yeah me 2
I'd live some videos on how to punish bad team comps. if they don't have a tank or if they have no healer. too many tanks, too many flankers etc.
i would like more of this.
Agreed
same
yeah
+
Do you still like more of this ?
since you asked, this is good man, me and my friend are currently assembling a team and i'm the shot caller, this will help me a lot :)
Great to hear! -F
Need dps?
+Elias Malik it's a lonely world for dps
I dragged several of my friends into Overwatch months ago for competitive and I'd definitely say it's easier for all of us to win games with proper synergy and team comps! could you swap a pharah with a genji
5:44 mercy sticks the landing
that made me laugh so hard, thankyou
So good RUclips comments still exist after all.
this Is what a yt comment should be not "like or ya nan dies in 3secs"
flanker22 you're my favorite kind of person.
+ZFTherory fanboy like or your nan dies in 3 seconds
5:44 Acrobatic dead Mercy sticks the landing.
I can't stop laughing.
Really tight analysis. I like long, descriptive commentaries, but the edited gameplay showcased the subject perfectly and briefly. Thanks!
Should have used Roadhog's summer games belly flop spray for the thumbnail
missed opportunity :(
That shit is *disturbing*
I know you said detestably, but Zen's ult is pretty much for shutting down other character's ults. not d.va's tho
or McCree's
or junkrat ult
or a nano boosted ulting genji (believe it or not)
then there are non-ulting examples
widowmaker headshot
ana presses E
reinhardt dash
enviromental kills
Conspiracyman I said every one it counters is one that could potentially wipe an entire team, not that every ult that can wipe teams is countered by it. The point of my post was to show that Zen's ult wasn't OP, if nothing else you've just further cemented that point.
I was joking.
Conspiracyman It wasn't obvious m8
This is my fav vid from this channel in a while. Commentating over gameplay like this rly helps me get these strats. I wouldn't be opposed to more like this.
I love the little note of "never fight road as winston" while you fight a road as winston, gave me a good laugh :)
great video, please do more of these
You guys are great. Only group consistently making videos with real helpful tips. Everyone else has slowed
Really useful breaking down an actual game with the game play in the background. It gives some context as to what you're talking about and therefore is easier to understand for someone like myself who is a visual and kinaesthetic learner

Fair point, this is more of a practical explanation. If I have the footage for it, I'll do a follow up with more broad points like you've stated. -F
Sweet, looking forward to it. Still have a lot to learn ^^
Well said. I think you already know, but it is always good to hear someone else's opinion on the matter. So I agree.
Well its called "What is a dive comp" and it showed you what a dive comp is. Its not called "How to counter a dive comp" fucking idiot.
out of curiosity would you audibly say "just my two pence" as opposed to 'two cents'?
This type of video is perfect! It's one thing tired what a term means but to watch you implement it and have a play by play almost, it helps so much
I really like this style of video. Seeing all of the information I've read or watched about strategy, tactic, etc. is remarkably helpful. I hope to see some more videos like this!
I like the simple and practical aspect of this video, do more of these from different POV and different comps.
I main Zenyatta and Mercy. You're welcome.
😍
what happends when there is already a mercy and a Zen in your team then?????
i main genji, i'm sorry XD
Theres rarely 2 healers already in a team. If there is its because other people have already picked their roles , and they're forced to go healer.
You're
Please continue these types of videos
This kind of video is sweet! Please continue to make such commentary on team and game dynamics with such well illustrated in-game examples. It raised my awareness.
you guys have helped me maximize my small pockets of playtime as well as have more fun playing as a team with randoms!!! Thanks for taking the time to break all of this down you guys rock!
I loved how specific yet over-encompassing this video was. I would love to see more, because this is what really helps me become a better player.
Hey, please keep making videos about comps and about comp meta! This video was so great I manage to convince some friends that had stopped with Overwatch to come back and we are now practicing this comp! Thank you very much! You guys are great!

i know this is like a year late, but im really glad you made this video. It taught me what a dive comp was and how to do one properly. Thank you!
I really like these types of videos. Specifically pointing out where you may have screwed up. When you play console watching your games is not very easy so I find it hard to critically analyze my mistakes.

That was a really really good video. I would seriously love to see a COUNTER for such a DIVE COMP though.
PLEASE do more of these! I have trouble with team coordination, and these'll be great!
Yes, please do more videos like this. Love the details and the transparency of what you intended to do. Thumbs up
Really liked this video, I've been trying to teach my friends that just got the game but it's hard without good examples and breakdowns. Keep em coming!
"Bob's your uncle" Jesus that killed me. Great video!
Big fan of the gameplay scenarios. All we get are specific subjects covered. now we get some good real life games and comments. GOOD JOB!
I like this type of video which explains a lot of details valuable to better gameplay. I'd also appreciate more basic coverage like explaining what a 2/2/2 comp is and why it is preferred.
Your channel is amazing, I've been watching lots of videos to get an understanding of Overwatch's fundamentals
bloody good video man. Really enjoy these kinds of videos.
I just started watching your vids, I appreciate how you talk about team comps and specific gameplay moments.
Love these types of videos, please do more of them, they help out a lot
Damn thats some good knowledge I really enjoyed this video it definitely teaches a lot of people who solo queue to play as a team. Unfortunately there are far too many people without a mic making this difficult without at least a 5 man party. Great video though keep it up
Nah fam, can YOU specifically do more of these videos. your voice is pretty smooth for commentaries.
Good video, pls make more of it in the future.
One question though: do you think dive works on defense as well, especially on assault?
On certain maps pro teams have done so on defense, it requires to allow the enemy team to push into an area and coordinating the dive into a certain part of map geography that is beneficial for the defense. Great Vid, Freedo! Love this style of video where you go in-depth with your strategy. Thanks for teaching me something new
this type of content is awesome!!
I wouldn't mind you putting out more videos of the same concept (dive comp) but just seeing how it plays out in different maps with different heroes :)

Yup
Excellent video, would love to see more of this! Watching gameplay and having each scenario explained is interesting, educational and efficient. Superb!
definitely a good video format, informative for some of us that haven't been playing coordinated team games for 10 years
I love the type of video. I was able to apply what I saw in my next match. Keep up the great work bro!
5:46 That Mercy gracefully landing on her feet, even when dying. Classy girl.
This is great! Your videos are definitely a good resource to aid learning the game and thinking about it on a different level. Keep it up, guys!
The situational stuff is definitely super beneficial and greatly appreciated! Awesome vid
Thought about this but never had a name for it until I watched this. Really like the commentary, learned smth fo sho. Thx again
Appreciate these gameplay/coaching videos. Makes me more confident playing tank and making these types of calls.
This was great, and the tips/explanations in the bottom left corner are great
I super appreciate this kind of video. It's really helpful to get an idea of what team comps look like.
these types of vids help my mechanics out a ton
Man I love this new analysis of gameplay your doing.
This is definitely a good style of video, I found it quite helpful & informative. More, please.
Yes! Please do more of these, they help a lot.
Please do more of this style, it's perfect.
i like the videos explaining different strats and metas, over gameplay that u are explaining
I love thiese types of videos for OW in general. Watching things, learning from them, its the reason why I watch pro matches (other than the hype ofc)
Very nice and informative video. Seems like we're seeing Winston more in competitive settings. Can you make a guide on Winston explaining what's his role, when to engage, when to disengage and heroes that works well with Winston in a competitive setting?
I like these kinds of videos!
They're educational and you break down whats happening, more please :D
4:03 Couldn't you have ulted there and booped the ulting zen into the pit?
that feeling when your team is like "Team work? It's waaayyy too difficult for me. I'm going in solo"
Great video. I love the "This is what a Group Up looks like".. lol
I like the outline for this video, you should definitely do more of these Freedo
Every new Overwatch player should be required to spend at least an hour on your channel before they are allowed to queue. To answer your question, yes. Videos like this are extremely helpful, and make players who are playing correctly feel better about our efforts ;)
I miss this shit
I really like gameplay situations because I'm really new and people that just don't know when/where/how to group. I'd also like to hear more break down on more comps or even just basics for comps. Thanks guys!
Can you do demo reviews of teams themselves instead of just the individual? Focusing on team play, comp, calling etc.
Yeah my friend and I need this
+1
Lol they I'm not even sure if they have demo reviews yet
Great video, just wish I had friends to play Overwatch with as no one on console ever listens ;(
What u on and whats ur skill
+ayyell bow down to me pleb xb1 and about 45/55ish (lvl 59) still doing my placement matches for season 2
K cause I play on Xb1 but then I realized I play at mid 40s and I'm shit😂
+ayyell bow down to me pleb dw, I was stuck there for most of season 1 and it's a Reaper/76/Hanzo cluster fuck with a bit of offence Bastion for good luck -_-
Message me and I can help
GT: Pandagamerxx2
Yes, very good format. We need more videos and ideas like this.
Nice video! The dive comp explanation was well thought out and showcased.
You should do a vid on how to counter a dive comp. And maybe even in every vid where you go into specifics like this one, you can talk about the pros and cons of a certain strat or character or whatever.
If a dive comp is based on mobility, would D.Va also be reliable?
Could be. As long as the DVa player knows how to save the rocket boost to disengage and save herself.
I love playing D.va in dive comps. I'm much more useful as her than as Winston. She's great for Zarya ult combos, blocking/absorbing tons of different ults, and chasing down low HP chars to secure the kill.
yes D. Va is very good in dive comp
In Numbay only
we usually have a 5 stack dive comp with Winston/Lucio/genji/d.va/tracer and a rando
These videos are very helpful. Keep up the great work!
these videos are great and have definitely refined my gameplay and helped me as a team mate. sincerely appreciate the help guys.
one of the most irritating team comps in the game is rein + bastion + mercy, and lately i've seen a significant increase in people utilizing it. do you have any tips on countering?
That's funny considering bastion is terrible in high levels. I don't even see him in platinum. As for countering, reaper and tracer work well.
I'd be interested to see how you get a Reaper/Tracer in there with a bastion + rein + mercy.
if you can get in as tracer with a pulse bomb it's a free pick on one of the three which you can push off.
It's rather simple, actually. That kind of cheese never works at higher levels
Can you make a video on when and how to ult?
Great video! I would love to see more of this type of content.
Can you keep doing this style of video? I have been putting together a school team and it might help a lot.
Hey I love this style going over a game is great! Great channel keep it up

Brand new to Overwatch and I found this video super helpful. Thanks for making it!
I was specifically looking for videos about team play strats rather than character specifics. this seems more fundamental
