This is the TL;DW (too long; didn't watch) version where I compress the 6 video series down to 6 minutes! I know not everyone has the time to watch the full detailed videos, so here you go. If you do want to check out much more detailed videos with commentary I made a playlist of the full series here: ruclips.net/video/lXNw98zmL-Q/видео.html
It works, but I wouldn't recommend it as my battery knowledge since this build has increased a ton. It's better to just make a single pack with a single BMS 👍
Hey, I just watched the 6 part series and subscribed to your channel. I have a bmx bike and plan to build a ebike to commute to work. Is there anyway you could hook me up with a list of what to buy for my build? I don't need to go 40mph. 20mph will be fine. This will be my first ebike build, but I build heavy machinery by trade so I will be fine I am just having a hard time trying to figure out what to buy.
Thanks man!! Go here: hightech-lowlife.github.io/projects/019_bmx_ebike/019_bmx_ebike I would recommend a 1500W kit, it will take you to 34MPH and be about half the cost of a 3KW system. Then you only need a 48V battery which are cheaper and more readily available. This kit will give you everything you need, including the battery for a 1500W- (however, I personally wouldn't buy this kit because you can get things for cheaper by shopping around for different parts. For about this price I could make a 72V 3KW version, and if you're already paying that much you might as well do it): www.aliexpress.com/item/2251832668223754.html (obviously make sure you choose the 20" rim option) This is the 72V 3KW kit (you have to ask them for the 50A controller upgrade): www.aliexpress.com/item/3256802552844432.html and you'll also need a 72V battery. Because of the small form factor, you'll have to get creative with battery and controller mounting, but if you've seen my build you can at least get some ideas on where to put things. You will need to stretch the frame at the back to accommodate the hub motor axle just as I have shown in my videos. Other than that, it's pretty straightforward. 🍻
Where are you located? I’d like to know if a similar build can be managed? Depending on our respective locations, I’d like to reach out for a possible chat sometime, thanks in advance. Fantastic build, I have a 1100 zooz, but your style is more what I’m interested in. Hoping to keep it under 40lbs all in, with a smaller size battery configuration.
There's 2 modifications you're missing,, A 52 Tooth sprocket And lock outs for the rear end .Eventually the metal will spread on the back from the torque if you don't put lockouts on ,I just welded on washers and cut a groove in them And it works fine, Better than the cheap Chinese crap you're gonna find on Amazon👍
Thanks man, I think you mean torque arms? This frames dropouts are beefy enough to not need them, I've built a ton of ebikes, never broken a frame nor dropout before. If you forget to tighten your axle nuts they can help avoid a dropout failure, but most of the force is from axle compression through the nuts. I only really run torque arms if the frame is soft (aluminum) or I'm putting a really crazy amount of power. I will be making a new 5-6KW BMX soon, and for that I will weld more material to the dropouts 👍
Total was about $1200, but I got the frame for free, I could have gotten a much cheaper battery also. If you just go with a 1500W kit, you could probably make this for $7-800 👍
Thanks man. I usually sell my projects to fund new projects, not really about making money more just being able to continue the hobby. 🍻 @@Channel21Jaymz
Not sure what front hub your using . Plenty of great ones and sizes available for bmx. I'm always concerned with the front wheel on bikes that might see speeds over 25.mph. Just some extremely low quality bikes /and no grease in.front hub , often same hubs as used on children's bikes. Could spell disaster.. Please take front wheel seriously. Don't be afraid of good quality front wheel, through axle wheel should meet even the highest demands.
Thanks man! It's just the one that came with the bike, I've never had a problem with any of my bikes with front hubs or bearings, even at high speeds. I'm a conservative rider, it's just for fun - speed runs were only taken for documentation purposes, it's rare I would exceed 25mph for any reason on a bicycle. I appreciate the safety concerns, may all your endeavors be humanitarian.

Yes it is possible, you can message me on instagram (link in the description). 👍
@ thanks for the quick reply, what state are you located in?
@hightech-lowlife did you add pedal assist? If so, how?
@@DavidGarcia-sy9re I don't like PAS so I don't set up my bikes to use it, I like throttle only. Yes you can add pedal assist, it is easy to install 👍
Really nice setup I would definitely buy it. If u sell it
This one has already been sold, but I will be making another BMX build 👍
@@hightech-lowlife just curious how much did u sell it for?
How many
Miles range
Between 20-40 depending.
Total cost please bike and all?
About 1100

Just found bmx for this ......did you use pedal assist with this build ?
I set up my bikes for throttle only, I'm not a fan of PAS 👍You could implement it though if you want it.

It's totally worth it, they're a blast! You can save up for each component over time and when you've accumulated all the parts build it out. Thanks!
