The game has such a Cosmic Star Heroine vibe to be looks very good and a great homage to 16-bit rpgs but very light on overall difficulty or content outside the main story. I'll pick this up when it goes on sale in the future but seems to not have enough to do once you beat the game and quite linear overall.

Yo from the sn30 pro plus video is the snes ones dpad buttons better honestly overall which would you recommend i tried to look on Reddit but couldn't find a good response..
I just stumbled upon this game one mobile (Android), and it is amazing to say the least. I started watching reviews just to see what others thought of it (this being the first), and this review does not do this game justice; sorry Paige. Idk how much this game is on consoles or pc, but for $5 on mobile, I can say, it is definitely worth every penny and then some. The story is cliché, but well written, the characters are charming, the protagonist is likable, and the humor is cute and fits the game's overall style. It gets a 9/10 from me.
An interesting review, but Paige's view of the game seems a bit of an outlier. Would she have called the original Steam game a 5/10, or only the Switch port of said game? Steam reviews of the original game are "Overwhelmingly Positive" (95% of the reviews are positive), and the other reviews I find online all hover around the 8 out of 10 mark. The similarity from battle to battle is a hallmark of retro JRPGs. The one thing in her review that made me pause was the brief mention of a problem with fine movement using the Switch D-pad. I think she switched from joycons to NES or SNES controller; but since many of us play Switch on the go, I hope that movement is not a serious issue on a joycon's D-pad.
I prefer the Joycons D-buttons over a traditional D-pad, personally. There is no chance of me accidentally pressing in an undesired direction leading to unintentional actions in-game, unless I just screwed up an accidentally pressed the button to begin with. Anytime I play a 2D platformer that requires some intense accuracy on my inputs, I switch to the Joycons.
It probably sucks without a pad. I got excited to play sonic 3-D blast the other day. I downloaded it and everything. And then I came to realize you just really can’t play it without a D pad. That’s how some of the old games are
Been playing the game myself for Review purposes.....if you use the Buttons on the Joy-Con you gonna be fine. With the analog stick it's kinda awkward. But since you can use the directional buttons it's really not a problem.
I very much dislike the lack of proper text fonts. Why make reading painful with pixels? "Hey, lets make the text both small and low res, yeah that'll be good."
Don't mind this crummy review: As someone who has played it recently, this game is extremely good, and is viewed far more positively by non-reviewers who have played it than MR "Nothing Special 5/10" here. The game, with some noteable modern improvements, is genuinely faithful to old-school JRPG style. It's a combination of an open-exploration world with a very story-rich narrative driven experience. It's easy to get immersed in both the game world and the story the game offers. The characters feel reallywell developed, like actual people not just in your party, but around the world as well. There are many incredible moments in the game which draw you into the world and the story more. There is a decent amount of nuance to progressing your party characters, and you can even earn an 'upgraded class', choosing between two unique classes (as derivatives of their original class), per character, after you do their side-quest. The game doesn't even tell you where to go to get these character class quest, relying on player exploration itself to reward you with different quest that can seriously unleash a particular character. Even just exploring the game world is fun, and there are a lot of things that you would not find if you were just someone rushing through the main quest portion of the game in order to get a review down to 'create content'. Seriously, i highly recommend this game, it's a product of love and care by the developers over at stegosoftgames! It's regularly on sale on both GOG and Steam.
Story's got a nice little twist to it, but it'll play out a little cliche in other ways. Dialogue was surprisingly well-written for an RPGmaker game. Lita has a lot of charm.
I do not take the "Hour played for every dollar" ratio thing seriously. It really depends on the game in question. Replay value takes precedence, in my opinion. I love me some Enter the Gungeon. One successful run will take me a little over an hour, an hour and a half to two hours if I go for the extra Chambers. If I recall, the games costs $15 digitally, twice that physically. But, because it's a roguelite, you'll naturally be playing it over and over again, especially in the beginning when it's kicking your butt. I've spent over 300 hours on that game alone. Again, a single run takes less than 2 hours (I go through every single room and THEN go for the boss). I've definitely gotten my money's worth, lol. Alternatively, I could spend $5 on a game and get 15 hours out of it. That's great, but that doesn't mean a whole lot if I don't feel the need to touch it ever again. Replay value is key. 'Course, it's all subjective to begin with.
Of course buddy. The dollar per hour is just a general foundation for value. The quality always takes precedence. For example, even if a game offers 400 hours of gameplay for $1. We would still not recommend it as good value if the gameplay is utterly terrible. Here it's just "ok".
Doesn’t look bad, but there’s far more impressive games at that price or cheaper (FF, DQ, etc). This would be more enticing at the $5-$8 range, in my opinion.
"Great review". Calls the game a love letter to the 16-bit era, then shits on it the whole video for being that love letter. If that's a great review to you, IGN is looking for new memberships.
5 out of 10? FICE OUT OF TEEEEEEENNNN!!!??? Come one, the game is at least a seven. Even eight. The game is really good, not bad at all; but it's not perfect, although perfection is something I'm not interested when it comes to games, retro or modern.
Also, if you're only playing on second hardest difficulty, that's pretty pathetic. Admitting you played on the easiest difficulty and then hating on the game for being too easy make you sound like a fool. Not a fan of people who complain about it being easy and picking easiest difficulty.
@@СшаСша-ф5о No worse than her calling it a 'love letter' to the 16-bit era and then shitting all over it for the same reasons, lmao. Incompetent reviewer, wrong genre for them.
