@@johndiggle4229Earn the game rather than begging for it! People like you irritate the hell out of me. It's not even that much money, and the developer has to earn a living too!
Yo! I LOVE your game. I picked it up thanks to this review. Quick question - I am confused by the inventory system. It seems like some items can be dropped/swapped, and some can't, but it's unclear to me which and when. For example, when I swap a main gun from my inventory, it swaps the dead (out-of-ammo) one back into that slot, but sometimes when I attempt to switch a sidearm in, it "drops" it instead? For some reason, it's confusing me during gameplay. Am I an idiot? I have a two-year-old in the house (for the record I only play after she's in bed lol) so maybe my brain is just on low batteries...
@@montanaknox1066 Yeah you right, sidearm can't be switched from inventory, we figured you don't really need to do it, because it has unlimited ammo, while switching normal gun on the fly makes sense. We'll see if this can be improved somehow.
I don't think I'll ever tire of roguelites with permanent progression. They are my preferred pick up and play games, especially when I can put down the system mid run and pick it right back up hours later!
I share this sentiment 💯 Especially as an adult with responsibilities, I don’t usually have time to sit for a while and play games, I can get a huge rush of action, and still feel some sort of consistent progression. Very satisfying indeed.
Totally agree. First thing I check on when I am tempted with any roguelite. Feels like every run at least moves your forward in some fashion. aside from your own skills improving!
Been following this game since it was called “I, Dracula - Genesis”. This developer is super humble and knows this game doesn’t have a lot of coverage, which is BONKERS because HOLY CRACKERS, HARRIET, this game is GOOD. If you even SLIGHTLY enjoy roguelikes or twin stick shooters, BUY THIS, and then tell all your friends so the dev finally gets the recognition he deserves!!!
I kind of liked the title "I, Dracula - Genesis" better. I understand it's probably technically worse for sales because it sounds too weird and cryptic, but it fits the game better compared to the generic sounding "Doomsday Hunters". Oh well. I hope the rebrand helps get the game the attention it deserves.
This game looks like a great bit of fun and I would never have heard of it without your channel. Thank you guys for all of your work for the Switch community.
This is probably the best roguelite/like I've played since Risk of Rain 2 and is easily up in the S tier with the likes of Hades and Dead Cells. This game will definitely be compared to Enter the Gungeon but I find it WAY more fun and replayable, especially due to the metric ton of unlocks and emergent gameplay based on the myriad of different weapons and side perks you can get like leaving mines behind when jumping or summoning death circles when taking X amount of damage. The meta progression is super satisfying and there's so many cool little secrets and things to discover on each run. I really hope this game takes off because the devs clearly put a ton of care and love into it. Spread the word, people!
As someone with limited time to play during weekdays, I have grown very fond of these types of games. Thanks for the review, I will definitely get this one.
Y’all are killing me lol. Just got hooked on Ember Knights and now looks like I’m going to have to be addicted to yet another in the same vein as Hades roguelite this week. Dang it! Haha thanks for the video!
I’m so addicted to Roguelikes with permanent progression. Roguebook is my most played game and Monster Train, to my surprise was so fun and didn’t look appealing until I played it. Neoverse too. I picked this up but your video has gotten me to play it next. Thanks 😊
@@nicked_fenyx yes! So glad to see another Roguebook fan. It’s definitely underrated and overlooked. I was playing until 5am and had to force myself to sleep because I just wanted to keep playing more.
Great review, guys. This game and its developers deserve much more attention from the media. Its a great game, running almost flawlessly, in a fair price...and yet, nobody is talking about it. Cheers (and thanks) SwitchUp !
Yes! Auto comparing weapons instead of having to navigate multiple menus! Why is this not more common?! I shouldn't need a flowchart, post-notes and a PowerPoint presentation just to decide if I want the new pew-pew or the old pew-pew-pew!
This is right up there with Enter the Gungeon and Neon Abyss. Love it the enemy design is so cool and the Pixel Art is sublime. I wish the OST was a bit more punchy, it’s nice but a bit too relaxing. The guns are pretty amazing. Picked it up after watching this and Splattercat’s Indie Impressions.
So happy to see you guys covering this game, been following it for years hoping it’d finally make the jump to switch (back wen it was called i Dracula genesis.) well done!😊
anyone else really turned off by how most meta-progression systems are utilized? Often they're just used to tweak numbers that gradually make the game easier than actually adding anything of interest.
This is the best one sense Hades to me. Having an absolute blast. One thing I liked about Hades more was the story and lore, but as far as gameplay goes, this is right up there to me, it is a little more relaxed than hades.
Do you know what the modifiers do before a run? It says plus and minus % depending on whether they are hard or easy modifiers but it never tells you what you're gaining in losing. I'm thinking it's your xp during that run but it's hard to tell.
@brodylockwood14 I have been wanting to know the same , also, is there no way to tell what weapons you are purchasing over to the right? And where do the weapons go? Just in the pool of weapons you can get?
Great review! Doomsday Hunters sounds perfect for handheld. It's definitely going on the wishlist, even though I've no idea when I'll actually have the time to play it. This year is absolutely stacked 😅
Thanks for making sure to include the info on the visual filter toggle. I spent most of the video thinking "This looks fun but those scanlines are killing me".
Looks super neat, it does remind me of Enter the gungeon which at the time I bought it, was just a random game I had just heard about also. I ended up putting about 130 hours into it, haha.

This is really good. I don't know if it's a glitch though, but no music plays in any stage until I reach a shop, or a boss fight. And when I die, a sound effect plays on an infinite loop.
Oh god not an addictive rogue like similar to one of my favorite games and just when i was starting to clear my backlog!!! Damn you switchUp!!. JK thanks for the review guys!
It's seriously good fun. Played it on my flight back from Kos. There's a couple of bugs that need patching out but they don't detract from this being a great game.
