Blocking out in Nomad Sculpt - a time lapse
A bit more progress on Roger Rabbit in Nomad Sculpt today. This time I take a look at blocking out.
Blocking out" in 3D modeling refers to the initial stage of creating a 3D model where the artist or modeler creates a rough and simplified version of the model to establish its overall shape and proportions.
The purpose of blocking out is to:
-Define the Scale and Proportions: It helps in setting up the correct sizes and relationships between different parts of the model. This is crucial for ensuring the model looks balanced and accurate to the concept or reference material.
-Establish the Composition: In scenes or more complex models, blocking out helps in arranging the elements in a way that is visually appealing or accurate to the project's requirements.
-Foundation for Detailing: Once the basic shape is approved, additional details are added on top of this block model. This layered approach allows for easier adjustments in the early stages without affecting detailed work.
-Efficiency: It saves time and resources by allowing modelers and directors to agree on the basic shape before any time-consuming detailing work is done. It's easier to make changes to simple shapes than to a fully detailed model.

Hi Glenn, can you discuss more about Voxel Remesh. Like at what amount is good to start and when do you really do Voxel Remesh with your sculpt. Great content by the way!

I am still trying to get the hang of merging and Voxel merging, but I lose their shapes a lot. A video where it shows when to merge and at what number ish would help a lot and still keep your detail. I keep getting pixelated or distorted while yours are still round and clean. I am trying to stop your draws until I can read what the numbers are, but the detail is too blurry. Great video!!
