You sir are a legend. I love how all your videos are across a broad range of miniatures companies and also genres. Also that your results are achievable by painters of all skill levels. I could be biased as I am a huge fan of Star Trek Attack Wing. Keep up the great work good sir.
This really looks fantastic. The paint really improves the look of the model and makes it look more like the actual ship from the show. Thanks for sharing this.
It's still a bit of a fight to get the whole miniature into focus while it's whizzing around on the thing, unfortunately... but eh, it's better than not! 😂
Great job! The shame of it is that the models could have been amazing out of the box. Wizkids just went cheap and gave them some of the strangest paint jobs ever. You’ve proven that they could have been glorious.
Making miniatures perfectly to scale with one another would have been extremely difficult given the size of ships across multiple eras in Star Trek, but they could at least have given us something that felt a little more reasonable out of the box. Defiant shouldn't be as broad across as Enterprise, that just ain't right. 🤣
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio yeah, that’s why I used some Klingon Bird of Prey ornaments to replace the ginormous versions that they released. There’s definitely alternatives out there - even the Eaglemoss minis, models/toys and plenty of 3D-printed goodies.
Awesome! I played loads of Attack Wing at my FLGS when it first came out and I’ve got myself a fairly healthy collection of ships I haven’t touched in about five years. Might be time to dig them out and give them a refit, then buy the Alliance box (which I didn’t know existed) to play through my favourite arc in all of Star Trek.
Alliance is itself a really neat little upgrade/update to the core game, and the enemy AI works far more like an actual opponent than I'd have believed by looking at the rules. Once it's on the table you find it's more like a strategy game on PC! There's also two (or three?) huge fan-made campaigns for the game as add-ons for Alliance, including AI cards and more campaign missions for almost all the factions. Really well supported by keen fans.
The puns are strong in this one - whoops wrong genre (blush) The wash had me really concerned but it worked very well. Used to be a big player of Star Fleet Battles (and expansions) - over 1000 pages of rules for a full set (2 binders) but the figures where way way expensive and a lot smaller to paint. Thank you for the extra 7 seconds on the end - debt settled :-)
Really like this format of you talking a bit about the game before going into the painting, it makes it a nice rounded experience. Also, your intro was so gloriously Trekkie I wanted to hug you. One question....you use a soft makeup brush to drybrush here, rather than something more akin to citadel's pretty stiff drybrushes. Is the soft brush better? Or just different?
I’d love to see one of your 1min vids, or a picture if you’ve already painted, of that defiant class! I’m planning on running Star Trek Adventures RPG sometime soon, so this has helped me out massively
If you want any of the decals for the ships, they also had a "Deep Cuts" type version of most of the ships that include transfers, and if you're repainting it anyway... Also, I friend of mine figured out where the top bump grid came from...it's from an electronic version of the Enterprise with a toy that had different sounds and effects tied into the different buttons they put on
Not bad. I would say the biggest issue is the nacelles. Enterprise had 2 red stripes, the starfleet symbol and a couple of black stripes behind the red ones, and the scoops were much much larger. But it's not a great sculpt to be working with.
What?!? Agrax Earth Shade did NOT boldly go where no Shade had gone?!? Who are you and what did you do with Sonic?!? 🤣🤣👍. Nice video! Thanks for Sharing! 👍
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio See that is why I am firmly in the Star Wars camp. Give me a crusty old freighter that I can soup up to do the Kessle Run any day!
Has anyone pointed out that 3d printing is just "a replicator in its infancy?" It's staring right at us. (I've played HeroClix since it was new, but I'd play the Borg in Attack Wing if I started that. Don't know if I can gin up excitement among my friends...)
"Wizkids supply, at the moment, is up in the air." - that is a very generous way of putting it! They have always struggled to make 'current' product available, let alone previous waves. I had such high hopes for Alliance given how slickly the AI had been implemented in HotAC.. but I fear Wizkids have really fudged up the release for this one.
I had no idea how desperately I needed these Star Trek puns in my life.
Omg yes thank you Sonic Sledgehammer!! Brilliant intro

Thank you , Troy .
🙂
i love you even more than before.... you play star trek too....omg....major fan of star trek of any game movie series....
Well, the intro alone earned a like immediately and I haven't even finished the rest of the video yet!
Just a top notch vid for something not normally covered, thanks man
hell yes, there NEEDS to be more painting videos for starships. Go Sonic Go

Well done, human!
Yay the spinny thing is back! And good Lord that looks a million times better than the original paint jobs.

i loved the intro!
Sounds like you had alot of fun painting this miniature and alittle bit of comedy thrown in for free too.....👍

SO excited to see a Starfleet ship. Looks terrific.
Fantastic tutorial. I mostly use Vallejo Acrylics, but that bluish base you used looks so good I might have to go ahead and shell out for Citadel.

I'm interested in how you painted those Cardassians. Any plans to feature other ships, like Romulans or Klingons?
I would like to see how you paint ships from other factions. I have all of the content and ships from this game, including the organized play prizes.

please do klingonen and remulaner too

I love it! Could you do a Romulan war bird!?
Pick up some of the deep cut models from wiz kids, they come with decals for stuff like the registry numbers.
I'd seen the Deep Cut miniatures, but didn't realise they came with decals. Now that's handy!
Good luck stearing that lol.
Only takes 4 turns to turn around 👍😂
Try getting your hands on the Transformer miniatures. I'll use the star trek starships for reference.
Dear SSS, Qapla' Best Wishes Johnny
I kind of wish you'd shown us what the model looked like before you painted it
Like the other two ships at the start of the video. ;D
Wellllllll shoot. Looks like I need to poke around Thingiverse for some ships!
What Ross Patrick said! :D

Is it just me? but those impulse engines are in the wrong place?
There's quite a few things on this little model that are in the wrong place. It's not the best sculpt, unfortunately.
Heresy.
