We've been there every time of year and our favorite time is the first whole week in January! You've got the whole place to yourself, no traffic, no crowds, no lines, CHRISTMAS LIGHTS STILL UP, and the lowest motel rates of the year! We stay at Howard Johnson's downtown for 5 nights (Sun-Fri) for $40/night and $200/5 nights TOTAL !!!!! You can walk to everything in Gatlinburg and pay for no parking!! (BTW, eat at Seasons 101- for the chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries, Azul for the Tomahawk pork chop, LeConte Tapas-for everything, and Olga's Yodel for fabulous cinnamon rolls & the Donut Friar for donuts.) Fabulous vacation!

This is awesome advice! Thanks for sharing!!! I've never been to Olga's Yodel before - That's super high on my list of things to do this week now. LOL!

Hi, came across your channel a couple days ago and just want to say thank you. It is exactly what me and my wife needed.
We are from the UK and slowly planning our future trip to the smoky mountain region to have our family type dream cabin holidays.
Couple years away yet type holiday.
Anyway once again, thank you for the videos. Making it easier for us tourists who have yet to experience the region.

Let me know if there's any questions you have about the area you would like to see a video on & I'll try to get it done for you. Hope you can visit sooner than later!

Planning my first October trip. I was there in mid-December and it was quite empty. This was helpful.

If you want a break from Carnival attractions, visit on of the largest Arts and Crafts locations in North America. The Arts and Craft community off Glades Rd is really nice and makes many wish Gatlinburg had more of that than all the Mountain Coasters, Chair Lifts and Carnival Attractions over taking the area.

Thanks so much for sharing! It’s definitely a hidden gem of Gatlinburg! My aunt love the arts and crafts community! I’m hoping to do a video for the channel there soon!

For years we parked at Christ in the Smokies for $5 all day. Perfect central location next to the chair lift. Sadly the Sky Lift bought them out and demolished the Christ in the Smokies museum to create the larger parking lot you see today and increased the price to I believe $20 now.

For families with toddlers (i have 3,4,6,8yo) what do you find to be worth the price/best to see. Definitely want to do Hillbilly golf thanks to your recommendation but struggling to find other places that would be worth it and fun for littles. Thank you!!

My kids (8, 4 and 3) love Anakeesta & the Aquarium. I think both of those are great for families & worth the price of admission. With the new additions at Anakeesta there’s even more to do - even for the little ones!

      Go to pigeon forge
Gatlinburg is expensive and not geared toward younger than teen kids

As a local to the Smoky Mountains area, for us locals the cons are tourists. Dealing with the traffic , rude drivers, and how inconsiderate they can be makes it very unpleasant during tourist season.

That makes total sense. How long have you lived in the area? Can’t imagine what it’s like for locals now compared to 20 years ago.

I moved down here 3 years ago and have heard from locals that the reason that it has become so commercialized, is because to rent a space for a tiny store is 10 grand a month, knocking small business out and opening the door for large corporate to take over such as Ripleys.
