Thanks everyone for watching! Are there any questions about the Dutch word order and the usage of "eindgroep"?

As a native English speaker I love a rigid sentence structure.
    Or shall I say
I love a rigid sentence structure as a native English speaker.

ex ludo alumnus Latinō sum. benedictio structura lexis est. Word order, no matter how stupid, is amazing for someone learning it if it's predictable and rigid

    Thank you, really well explained!
Nice to see that German isn't the only language putting an entire novel in between a verb ;)

Hi Nout. That kitchen utensil is called "tongs" and it's used in plural as in "these tongs." "Tonsils" are in the throat (amandelen).
Your videos are excellent. Thank you for helping us A1 students. Greetings from Montana, USA.

Very helpful, thank you Nout! Open questions would be interesting to know, indeed. I am actually also wondering where "niet" should be placed in a sentence.

You're welcome, I'm glad you found it helpful. Open vs. yes/no questions I'm considering for another video but the negation and the position of "niet" is next on the filming schedule. :-)

It usually placed at the end of what you are saying but I have struggled with the same thing because there have been times where it comes before then and it’s confusing.

The place of niet in the sentence can often vary. But then the meaning of the sentence differs, the place of niet determines the meaning

Btw, the sound started being a lot better starting with this video. Whatever changed made it so much easier to listen to. Closer microphone position? More directional microphone?
Less room reverb sound (even in that same room) and less sibillence (ssss sounds). Definitely better

Thank you! Your videos are very useful. I learned that a definite direct object (de/het/mijn/dit/dat, etc.) should come before the time in a Dutch sentence. Could your sentence be like this? Ik moet de vergadering over de economische problemen in het zuiden van Europa vanmiddag om twaalf uur organiseren. Thanks! :)

    • @DutchGo
      @DutchGo  4 года назад

Yes indeed, that rule is correct but it's more of an A2 rule. The sentence is grammatically correct too, but sounds a bit strange. Maybe I would say: Ik moet de vergadering over... om 12 uur vanmiddag vastleggen.

It seems that double infinitive structures are put the other way round than in German, right? Example: Ik heb het niet kunnen maken.

Biggest problem is that Dutch, unlike English, is not logical.
